The Tennessee Titans’ strength of schedule ranks near the middle of the league among NFL teams for the 2021 season.

According to the NFL on Twitter, Tennessee has the 13th-toughest schedule based on their 2021 opponents’ 2020 records. The Titans’ upcoming opponents went a combined 138-134 (.507) last season.

The Pittsburgh Steelers (155-115-2, .574), a team that is one of Tennessee’s 2021 road opponents, owns the toughest schedule based on this formula, while the Philadelphia Eagles (117-155, .430) have the easiest.

Of course, using this method isn’t a full-proof way of figuring out strength of schedule, as it doesn’t factor in teams making improvements or getting worse throughout the offseason via free agency, trades and the draft.

As far as the rest of the AFC South is concerned, the Titans have the toughest schedule of any team in the division.

The Houston Texans (137-135, .504) are tied for 15th, the Jacksonville Jaguars (133-138-1, .491) rank 18th, and the Indianapolis Colts (130-142, .478) are tied for the ninth-easiest strength of schedule in the NFL.

To compare to last season, the Titans entered the 2020 campaign ranked 19th in strength of schedule, so it would appear on the surface that their 2021 slate will be a bit more difficult.

Report: Titans will play Saints if 17th game is added

The Titans are reportedly set to face the Saints if a 17th game is added in 2021.

There has long been talk about the NFL adding a 17th game to the regular- season schedule, but it appears there’s a good chance that could actually happen in 2021.

According to Peter King in his “Football in America” column, not only is the addition of an extra game seemingly inevitable, it could happen as early as this coming season.

The 17-game schedule is highly likely in 2021. No surprise there. TV partners and NFL schedulers are working under the assumption that the 17-game schedule (the way was paved for it last March when players approved a new CBA) will debut in 2021.

The extra game would see teams playing an interconference opponent based on standings, with the formula being South vs. South, East vs. East, and so on and so forth.

For the Tennessee Titans, that would mean taking on the NFC South’s New Orleans Saints, as both teams finished first in their respective divisions in 2020. The Titans and Saints last met in Week 16 of 2019, with the latter emerging victorious, 38-28.

While the situation with the 17th game has yet to be finalized, we do know who the other 13 opponents are that the Titans will face in 2021. In case you forgot or missed, check out the full list below.
