POLL: What record will Tennessee Titans finish with in 2020?

Cast your vote for what you think the Titans’ record will be in 2020.

Depending on who you ask, the Tennessee Titans have either an easy schedule or a middle-of-the-road one. To me, it’s middle-of-the-road at best and a lot harder than strength of schedule formulas are projecting.

In total, the Titans will have to play six games against five different playoff teams, and a handful of other contests will be against teams that barely missed out on the playoffs or on the rise after a strong finish to 2019.

However, when breaking down the schedule in full, you can see an avenue in which the Titans emerge from the 2020 season with ten wins, finally getting over that frustrating 9-7 hump.

But that’s just one man’s opinion; we want to hear yours.

Vote in the poll below (keep it realistic) for the record you think the Titans will finish with in 2020. If you need a reminder, we’ve posted the team’s schedule below the poll for you to look at.

POLL: Which non-divisional Titans game are you most excited to see?

Which out-of-division game are you most excited to see?

The Tennessee Titans’ 2020 schedule is filled with intriguing matchups to look forward to and includes three prime-time games after a 2019 season that saw just one.

The Titans will see a slew of old friends who recently departed along the way, teams they haven’t played in a few years and overall a bunch of tough matchups that will no doubt have fans biting their nails.

Of course, among those tough matchups are going to be games against hated rivals, both inside and outside of the division.

But for the purpose of this poll, we want to know which non-divisional matchup you are looking forward to the most as a Titans fan ahead of the 2020 season.

If you had to circle just one of these games on the old calendar or only had the option of watching one of them, which one would it be?

Let us know in the poll below.

5 biggest takeaways from Tennessee Titans’ 2020 schedule

There are both positives and negatives to the Titans’ 2020 schedule.

With the release of the Tennessee Titans’ 2020 schedule, there were a few things that caught our eye, some good and some bad.

Before we get to the biggest takeaways, here’s a remind of what the Titans’ upcoming slate look like.

  • Week 1: Titans at Broncos
  • Week 2: Titans vs. Jaguars
  • Week 3: Titans at Vikings
  • Week 4: Titans vs. Steelers
  • Week 5: Titans vs. Bills
  • Week 6: Titans vs. Texans
  • Week 7: BYE
  • Week 8: Titans at Bengals
  • Week 9: Titans vs. Bears
  • Week 10: Titans vs. Colts
  • Week 11: Titans at Ravens
  • Week 12: Titans at Colts
  • Week 13: Titans vs. Browns
  • Week 14: Titans at Jaguars
  • Week 15: Titans vs. Lions
  • Week 16: Titans at Packers
  • Week 17: Titans at Texans

Now, on to the takeaways.

Not a lot of travel

One of the more underrated aspects of a team’s schedule is travel, and the Titans don’t have to do a lot of it in 2020.

After having a West Coast game against the Raiders last season, the Titans won’t have to travel farther west than Denver this season, a trip that will come in Week 1.

After that, most of the traveling that needs to be done is relatively close. Granted, the Titans have a slew of road games to close out the season, but that’s offset by the fact that the Titans have five home games from Weeks 4 through 10.

Tennessee Titans’ epic schedule reveal video receives high praise

The Titans were unanimously praised for their schedule reveal video.

NFL teams each had their own way of revealing their 2020 NFL schedules, but the Tennessee Titans’ video was unanimously ranked as one of the best.

Tennessee used a video featuring “Titan Man” to reveal its schedule on Thursday night, which brought back those feel-good memories of the old Saturday morning cartoons of the 1980s and 90s.

Major props to the video team for this one.

Dan Gartland of Sports Illustrated ranked the Titans’ video as the sixth-best among all the teams who posted one.

It says a lot about the videos further down this list that the Titans only come in at No. 6.

This video may look like a late-80s/early-90s cartoon that the team repurposed for its schedule reveal, but it’s actually 100% original. The team enlisted 30 people from the animation department at Nashville’s Lipscomb University, under the direction of former Disney animator Tom Bancroft, to create the video.

Dave Green of NBC Sports Boston gave the Titans an “A-“.

Is it cheesy? Sure. But the concept of “Titan Man” scaling Mount Olympus while facing 16 challenges based on Tennessee’s opponents is entirely different from other teams. And it’s just plain fun.

James Dator of SB Nation ranked Tennessee’s presentation fourth.

This might have taken the most work in the entire league. Animating everything is a difficult enough task, but nailing the 80s Saturday morning cartoon aesthetic is tough to pull off, and the Titans aced it.

The Draft Network’s Trevor Sikkema placed the Titans at No. 8 on his list.

The Titans took their creativity to new heights — pun intended — with this one. They created their own cartoon of “Titan Man,” who ascends up a mountain and wards off cartoon versions of their 2020 opponents. The video features a stiff arm to the Jaguars — cue Derrick Henry flashbacks — and even used a Danganronpa look-a-like for the Bears.

This was well thought out and very well executed.

Jerry Thornton of Barstool Sports had the Titans at No. 2 in his rankings.

The best use of nostalgia, using the style of a 90s Saturday morning cartoon, with perfect depictions of the rival cities on their schedule. Absolutely inspired.

To their credit, the Jacksonville Jaguars produced a hilarious video to reveal their schedule, and Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan agreed.

The 2020 season hasn’t even started yet and the Titans are already winning.

Tennessee Titans’ 2020 schedule: 5 hardest non-divisional games

Here’s a look at the five toughest non-divisional games the Titans will play in 2020.

Based on the 2019 records of their 2020 opponents, the Tennessee Titans own the 20th most difficult strength of schedule.

While that doesn’t seem too bad, there are some matchups on the team’s 2020 schedule that will be a lot tougher than others.

Of course, divisional games are always tough no matter where they are played, so we’re going to exclude those from this list and focus on the five toughest non-divisional games on the Titans’ slate.

Week 1: at Denver Broncos

The Broncos are a team on the rise after finishing the 2019 season with four wins in their last five games, which coincided with the team making the switch to their new franchise quarterback, Drew Lock.

Denver has added several new weapons on offense for Lock to utilize, and their defense will be its normal stingy self despite the loss of cornerback Chris Harris, Jr.

What makes this matchup even tougher for Tennessee is that the Broncos are 22-2 when playing home games in the first two weeks of the season since 2000 — and this game will be on Monday Night Football.

Tennessee lost to Denver 16-0 in Week 6 last season, but that was also before the Titans named Ryan Tannehill as the starter. Tannehill did see his first action with the Titans in that game after being substituted in for Marcus Mariota in the second half.

Tennessee Titans’ 2020 schedule: 7 most intriguing games

The Titans have no shortage of intriguing matchups on their 2020 schedule.

Whether it’s because the Tennessee Titans will see some old friends or hated rivals, there is no shortage of intriguing games for the boys in two-tone blue over the course of the 2020 season.

Tennessee has three primetime games in total, but 12 of their contests will take place at noon. The only game time left to be determined is the Week 15 matchup against the Detroit Lions.

Here’s a look at the games that stand out the most based on interesting storylines.

Week 1: Titans at Broncos

Mandatory Credit: Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

It’s the start of the season for the Titans and it will take place on the road at the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football in what will be a rematch of the Week 6 contest from last season in which the Titans lost 16-0.

Those reasons alone are enough to get excited for this matchup.

But adding to the intrigue will be the Titans facing off with one of the franchises’s all-time great defenders and fan-favorites in Jurrell Casey, who was traded to the Broncos earlier this offseason for a seventh-round pick.

Casey will be super motivated to show the Titans they made a mistake and it will be an emotional evening for both he and the Titans’ fans.

Tennessee Titans tied for 3rd-most primetime games in 2020

The Titans last had three primetime games in 2018.

One season after playing in just one primetime game, the Tennessee Titans will play in a grand total of three during the 2020 season.

In Week 1, the Titans will hit the road to play on Monday Night Football against the Denver Broncos. In Week 10, the Titans will host the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday Night Football, and in Week 16 they’ll travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football.

Tennessee’s three primetime games are tied for the third-most in the NFL with the Broncos and New York Giants.

As far as the Titans’ other games are concerned, they’ll all be early starts. In 12 of the team’s 16 games, the contests will begin at noon. As it stands now, Tennessee doesn’t have one late afternoon start on the schedule.

There is still one game time left to be determined, though, as the Titans’ Week 15 matchup with the Detroit Lions could take place on either Saturday December 19 or Sunday December 20.

Tennessee Titans 2020 schedule: 6 biggest surprises from 16-game slate

Here are some of the biggest surprises from the Titans’ 2020 schedule.

The Tennessee Titans’ 2020 schedule was released on Thursday night, and with it came some surprises that caught our attention.

For reference, here’s a quick look at the team’s entire 16-game slate.

So, what are the six things that caught our eye? Let’s take a look at that now.

No TNF game vs. Jaguars

The Titans have had a Thursday Night Football game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in five of the past six seasons, so it comes as a bit of a surprise to not see one on the 2020 schedule.

Instead, the Titans will square off with the Jags in a pair of Noon games, one in Week 2 and the other in Week 14. The Titans’ Thursday night game will be against the Indianapolis Colts.

Ranking Titans’ 2020 opponents from easiest to toughest

Who are the toughest opponents for the Titans in 2020?

The official 2020 NFL schedule will be released on Thursday night, but we already know who the Tennessee Titans’ opponents will be this coming season.

On paper, the Titans have a pretty tough schedule filled with playoff teams from a season ago, as well as other teams who appear to be trending upward.

From easiest to toughest, we’re going to rank every Titans opponent for this coming season.

13. Jacksonville Jaguars

Even when the Jaguars are considered a good team the Titans tend to dominate them. That may continue no matter what the Jags do as long as Derrick Henry is still in a Titans uniform.

Tennessee dropped its first meeting with Jacksonville last season while the team was in total disarray offensively, but things went back to normal later in the season with Ryan Tannehill at the helm.

With the Jags rebuilding in 2020, the Titans should be able to grab a pair of wins from their division rival.
