Los Angeles Lakers rookie players Talen Horton-Tucker and Devontae Cacok combined for 51 points Wednesday night on assignment to lead the South Bay Lakers to a blowout win over the Texas Legends in the G League.
Horton-Tucker, the 46th overall pick, recorded 27 points and five rebounds in the 140-98 victory as he shot 11-of-18 from the field, including 5-of-8 from 3-point range. The performance marked the third straight game scoring at least 20 points with the Lakers.
The G League resumed play on Wednesday night following the All-Star break. Horton-Tucker was seen around Chicago for the festivities as he joined his fellow Klutch Sports Group teammates, including LeBron James and Anthony Davis, for various events around the city.
Cacok, the Lakers’ two-way rookie, scored 24 points and 11 rebounds as he finished by shooting 10-of-14 from the field in 23 minutes off of the bench. Cacok registered his 19th double-double of the season with the Lakers, which ranks second among all G League players.
Horton-Tucker and Cacok have spent the majority of the year in the G League in order to continue developing. The Lakers signed Cacok to a two-way contract in December after a strong start to the season with South Bay.
Next up for South Bay: A road matchup Thursday vs. the Austin Spurs.
