Five-star center Flory Bidunga sets commitment date

One of the best centers in the country is set to make his commitment this weekend and Auburn is a finalist.

[autotag]Flory Bidunga[/autotag] is one of the best players in the country and he is ready to make his commitment.

The five-star prospect is set to commit during halftime of the Under Armour Boys Elite 24 game on Saturday, Aug. 12. The game is set to start at 8 p.m. CT and will be on ESPNU.

He will be picking between Auburn, Duke, Kansas and Michigan, and while he has enjoyed the recruiting process he told Brandon Jenkins of 247Sports that he is ready to finish it.

“It is exciting,” Bidunga said. “These schools have been recruiting me for a while and it has been fine. It has been great to see the facilities but now I am trying to get this done so I can enjoy my senior year.”

Bidunga is originally from the Republic of Congo but currently lives in Kokomo, Indiana. He is the No. 4 overall player and No. 1 center in the 247Sports Composite Ranking. The 6-foot-8, 215-pounder is also the No. 1 player from Indiana.

He broke down each of his finalists with Jenkins and it should be no surprise that Bruce and [autotag]Steven Pearl[/autotag] are the reasons Auburn is a finalist for him.

“I love [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] and his son Steven,” Bidunga told Jenkins. “They have been there from the beginning to now. They kept going with me. It has been good so far with then.”

If Auburn can land Bidunga he would be the second five-star of their 2024 class, joining point guard [autotag]Tahaad Pettifort[/autotag] who is the No. 18 player and No. 2 point guard in the country.

Four-star center Peyton Marshall decommits from Auburn

He was a member of Auburn’s 2024 recruiting class.

The Auburn Tigers have lost a major member of their 2024 recruiting class. Four-star center [autotag]Peyton Marshall[/autotag] has decommitted from the Tigers, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.

He gave a statement to Tipton on his decision:

“First and foremost I would like to thank Bruce Pearl and the Auburn coaching staff. After news of recent coaching staff changes within the program and recents talks with the ones closest to me, it is within my best interest to re-open my recruitment. I truly appreciate the support the fans and basketball community have given me. I will be decommitting from the Auburn University. Please respect my decision.”

The 7-foot, 300-pounder committed to Auburn on Dec. 9, 2022, and one of his primary recruiters was [autotag]Wes Flanigan[/autotag], who recently left Auburn’s coaching staff.

Marshall is the No. 82 overall player and No. 13 center in the 247Sports composite. He is the No. 8 player from Georgia.

Auburn still has commitments from five-star point guard [autotag]Tahaad Pettifort[/autotag] and four-star combo guard [autotag]Labaon Philon[/autotag].

Auburn basketball target Ace Bailey commits to Big Ten school

He included Auburn in his top 12 schools but picked Rutgers over the Tigers.

Auburn’s plans for their 2024 recruiting class took a hit Sunday when five-star target [autotag]Ace Bailey[/autotag] committed to Rutgers.

Bailey included the Tigers in his top 12 schools earlier this month and took a visit to the Plains. The Tigers seemed to be in a great place to land the Powder Springs, Georgia, product. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gave them a 94.2% chance of landing Bailey but it wasn’t meant to be.

He is the No. 6 overall player and No. 3 small forward in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 2 player from Georgia.

While he would have been a major piece of Auburn’s recruiting class, he is far from the only elite prospect the Tigers are involved with.

Five-star point guard [autotag]Tahaad Pettifort[/autotag] included Auburn in his top seven schools earlier this month. He is the No. 21 overall player and No. 2 point guard in the 2024 class.

He isn’t the only elite point guard Auburn is a finalist for, four-star target [autotag]Labaron Philon[/autotag] put the Tigers in his top six schools on Thursday. He is the No. 39 overall player and No. 6 point guard in the class.

The Tigers have already landed one target in four-star center [autotag]Peyton Marshall[/autotag]. The 6-foot-11, 310-pounder is the No. 89 overall player and No. 11 center in the 2024 recruiting cycle.
