T.J. Finley enters his freshman season at LSU seeking a potential second-string role.

In high school, Finley was the top quarterback in the state of Louisiana, recording 72 total touchdowns during his career. 58 of those scores came via the passing game, while the remaining 14 were rushing touchdowns.

A three-star quarterback, Finley has the most rushing ability of the three potential signal-callers for LSU this season. He is listed as a pro-style prospect, but is dangerous on the ground with his rushing ability.

During his senior season at Ponchatoula High School, Finley completed a career-high 168 passes for 2,738 yards and 21 touchdowns.

His total yardage in high school was 7,357 in his three seasons at quarterback.

The decision to attend LSU was an easy one for Finley.

The campus is close to home, and it gives his family an easier opportunity to see him play more often.

Going into the 2020, Finley will battle it out with fellow freshman Max Johnson for the backup role to likely starter Myles Brennan.

The Tigers haven’t seen a dynamic dual-threat quarterback in a few seasons. Finley has an opportunity to change that and potentially take over next season or in 2022 when Brennan departs the program.

While his playing time will likely be limited, Finley has a chance to show the coaches just what he brings to the table for Ed Orgeron and the Tigers.
