The Phoenix Suns and the Golden State Warriors open the 2023-24 NBA regular season at Chase Center in San Francisco on Tuesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Suns vs. Warriors odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Suns won 3-1 last season

The Suns added 3-time All-Star G Bradley Beal in the offseason, pairing him with G Devin Booker and F Kevin Durant for arguably one of the better ‘Big 3s’ in the NBA. Coach Monty Williams was replaced by NBA champion coach Frank Vogel, who secured a trophy with the Los Angeles Lakers in the bubble in 2020.

In addition to Beal and Vogel, Gs Grayson Allen, Eric Gordon, and Cs Drew Eubanks and Yusuf Nurkic are other new faces in the Valley of the Sun.

For the Warriors, they were also busy retooling or restocking the roster in the offseason. Veteran Chris Paul comes over from the Suns via the Washington Wizards, replacing G Jordan Poole, while F Dario Saric is also a new face.

Lastly, Golden State F Draymond Green (ankle) will miss Tuesday’s opener after suffering a sprained left ankle in an offseason workout.

Suns at Warriors picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 121, Warriors 117

Moneyline

The SUNS (-105) have had the number of the Warriors (-115) in recent seasons, winning 4 of the past 5 meetings straight up. In addition, Green is a big missing piece of the defense for Golden State, so Phoenix should be able to have its way inside.

Plus, this Suns team should be much more prolific on offense, getting a little younger with Beal, as opposed to CP3. The Warriors are still dangerous, and will win plenty of games this season, but Phoenix has a formidable Big 3, and a retooled lineup ready to make plenty of noise.

Against the spread

Playing the Suns +1.5 (-120) makes no sense, as that’s a lot of chalk to eat for basically just a single point. Unless you’re absolutely, positively convinced the Warriors -1.5 (+100) are going to win by just a single point, play Phoenix straight up instead.

PASS.

Over/Under

OVER 234.5 (-115) is worth playing lightly. The absence of Green should open up more access to the paint for the Warriors.

In addition to going high on the total, consider going DEVIN BOOKER – OVER 26.5 (-110), as he should be able to have him way without Green pestering the Suns players. Booker averaged 31.0 points per game in 3 games against Golden State last season, hitting 53.6% of his field-goal attempts.
