Phoenix Suns at Sacramento Kings odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Phoenix Suns at Sacramento Kings odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Phoenix Suns (57-14) open a three-game road trip Sunday when they take on the Sacramento Kings (25-47). Tip-off for is 6 p.m. ET at Golden 1 Center. Below, we look at the Suns vs. Kings odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Suns own the league’s best record and they hold a nine-game lead in the Western Conference over the second-place Memphis Grizzlies. They have won their last four games and eight of their last 10. Phoenix has been on an offensive explosion during its win streak, having scored between 129-140 points in each of the four wins.

The Kings have only one win in their last seven games and three in their last 14. They have only one win at home since Feb. 12. They have split their two games this season against Phoenix. Sacramento is 13th place in the Western Conference, five games behind the 10th-place New Orleans Pelicans for the final spot for play-in games to determine the final two seeds of the conference for the playoffs.

Suns at Kings odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 131, Kings 119

Money line

PASS on the money line unless you want to bet the Suns to win as part of a parlay bet.

The Suns are playing far too well to bet against and the Kings are struggling too much to pick for the upset. They have sneaked in a few wins over playoff-bound teams like their victory over the Chicago Bulls Monday, but that is not the norm. The Suns have the best road record in the league at 27-6. The price just makes a single bet on the Suns not worth your time.

Against the spread

The Suns have covered the spread in all four games across their four-game win streak. They have won each game by 16 points or more and their last five victories have been by at least 11 points.

The Kings are 5-4-1 ATS in their last 10 games but have failed to cover the spread in their last two games, both losses. They lost by 29 at home to the Boston Celtics Friday.

Expect the Suns to continue to their offensive roll, as the Kings allow the second-most points in the league.

Take the SUNS -8.5 (-122).

Over/Under

The Suns are averaging 132.3 points per game in their four-game win streak.

The Kings, on the season, give up 115.7 points per game.

The Kings were held under 100 points in their last game, but in their previous seven games, they scored an average of 115.1 points.

Take OVER 233.5 (-110).

Suns at Kings: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Kings 115, Suns 110

Money line (ML)

Phoenix opened its season with an impressive 106-102 home win as a 1-point favorite against the Dallas Mavericks Wednesday. It was PG Chris Paul’s Suns debut, and CP3 only had 8 points and 5 assists, but SG Devin Booker picked up right where he left off last season, leading the Suns with 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting.

The Kings upset the host Denver Nuggets 124-122 in overtime on SG Buddy Hield’s tip-in as time expired Wednesday – Sacramento was a 7.5-point underdog. Three Kings starters scored 20-plus points, including Hield, PG De’Aaron Fox and SF Harrison Barnes.

They two teams split last season’s head-to-head series 2-2, including 2-2 ATS, with Booker scoring at least 30 points in three of those games. These sides are pretty evenly matched in their positional head-to-heads and I “lean” KINGS (+135) because the Suns haven’t proven anything yet and shouldn’t be a road favorite vs. a team with similar talent.

Against the spread (ATS)

As far as the spread is concerned, this is shaping up to be a Pros vs. Joes situation with the betting market. 53% of the money wagered is on the Kings, but 76% of the total bets placed are laying the points with the Suns, according to Pregame.com. This has caused the line to move from a pick ’em to Phoenix being favored.

Presumably, the sharp side is the money column and if it goes against the percentage of bets made, then it’s typically wise to follow the money. Also, it’s generally a good idea to get insurance when you can and the first Suns-Kings game last season was decided by just two points.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS. Like in the ATS section, there is split action on both the Over and the Under. I don’t have a good feel for the total, so I’d rather not waste anyone’s money making a complete guess.
