Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we look at Marshall vs. Louisiana odds from BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds before making our expert college football picks and predictions later in the week.
The Thundering Herd needed 2 overtimes to edge James Madison as 3.5-point road underdogs in Harrisonburg, Virginia, Saturday. It was Marshall’s sixth consecutive win, while going 5-1 against the spread (ATS) in the span. The Herd ended up 10-1-1 ATS on the season and cashed the Over in 4 of their final 6 outings.
The Ragin’ Cajuns picked up a 37-23 road win against rival UL Monroe Saturday, covering as 9.5-point favorites as the Over (49.5) cashed. The 10-win Cajuns have won 8 of their past 9 games. The lone setback was a 24-22 home loss as 6.5-point favorites vs. South Alabama Nov. 16. ULL also went 5-1 ATS in its final 6 outings, while the Over is 3-1 in the past 4 outings.
Louisiana, which joined the Sun Belt Conference in 2001, will be making its fourth appearance in the title game since its inception in 2018. ULL is 1-2 in the previous 3 championships, winning the crown in 2021 by a 24-16 score at Cajun Field over Appalachian State. ULL would have made a fifth appearance in 2020 against Coastal Carolina, but the contest was wiped out by the COVID-19 global pandemic.
The Thundering Herd, who joined the Sun Belt in 2022 after 17 seasons in Conference-USA, won the East and will make their first appearance in the Sun Belt Championship Game.
The Ragin Cajuns, who won the West, get to host this title game thanks to a better overall record.
