U.S. Bank Stadium named host of WWE SummerSlam in 2026

The state of Minnesota loves its football, obviously, but it also loves its wrestling. In 2026, those two worlds will collide.

The state of Minnesota loves its football, obviously, but it also loves its wrestling. In 2026, those two worlds will collide.

It was announced on Thursday that the WWE will add U.S. Bank Stadium to its growing list of NFL stadiums to host an event. The Vikings’ home field will host the 2026 installment of SummerSlam as a two-day event. Each calendar year, the event is one of the company’s four major premium events. For a city and stadium to get one of them, specifically SummerSlam, it speaks to how special the stadium and city are viewed by the company.

This year, the WWE is set to have Cleveland Browns Stadium host the event, with the 2025 venue yet to be announced.

Hosting big events is not something Minneapolis and U.S. Bank Stadium are new to. They previously hosted Super Bowl LII which was a major success for the stadium and city overall. The weather will be a tad different outside for SummerSlam, however, as it will take place on Aug. 1 and 2 instead of February as the Super Bowl did.

Astonishing images from WWE’s SummerSlam 2022

WWE SummerSlam saw an incredible night and a mind-blowing finish to a fight between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns

One of WWE’s biggest events of the year took place in Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday. SummerSlam featured superstars, returns, and all sorts of high-flying action in and around the ring. Pat McAfee and Logan Paul were acrobatic in victories. Oh, and Brock Lesnar lifted the ring with a tractor.

Titans’ Derrick Henry to attend SummerSlam, but will he get involved?

Derrick Henry will attend SummerSlam on Saturday night, but will he get involved in the action?

With the WWE set to hold SummerSlam at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on Saturday, July 30, Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry is set to be in attendance.

Henry announced his plan to attend the event on Thursday via a video from the team. The King can be seen rocking the championship belt on his shoulder in the clip.

Now that we know Henry is going, it begs the question: will he get involved in the action?

Over the years we’ve seen countless celebrities — including athletes — take part in WWE events, so we can’t rule out Henry, who looks like he could pass for a professional wrestler himself with his monster frame, getting in the ring in some form or fashion.

While we don’t want to see Henry jumping off the top rope or anything like that, it would be cool to see him lay someone out. The King already has a possible finishing move, also, with his infamous stiff-arm.

SummerSlam isn’t the only wrestling event in town this week.

Wrestling legend Ric Flair, who attended Titans practice on Thursday, is set to have his final match at the “Jim Crockett Promotions Presents: Ric Flair’s Last Match” on July 31 at Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium.

Flair listed Henry as his favorite player and said he believes Titans head coach Mike Vrabel could make it as a professional wrestler, which we completely agree with.

Ric Flair attends Titans practice, calls Derrick Henry his favorite player

Flair also believes Titans head coach Mike Vrabel could make it in the WWE.

The Tennessee Titans had a rather uneventful practice on Thursday during the second day of training camp with players going half speed during the team period, but a special guest spiced things up a bit.

With the WWE’s SummerSlam set to take place at Nissan Stadium this week, wrestling legend Ric Flair, who will be taking part in his final match at the event, stopped by practice and addressed Titans players.

Following his talk with the players, Flair spoke with the media and admitted that Derrick Henry is his favorite player, which made coming to Titans practice even more exciting for the 73-year-old.

“I loved [Mike Vrabel] as a player in New England. He just reached out to me and said, ‘you want to come to talk to the Titans?’ I said, ‘hell yeah,'” Flair explained, per Ben Arthur of The Tennessean. “My favorite player in the NFL right now is Derrick Henry. Hated him at Alabama, I love him here.”

When asked what he likes most about Henry, “The Nature Boy” pointed to Henry’s speed.

“I didn’t realize he had that speed. When he gets in the open, he turns it up. I didn’t see that in college; I just saw a hell of a running back,” Flair said. “2,000 yards; think about it: that puts him in the same class as Adrian Peterson and people like that.”

Flair was then asked if he thought head coach Mike Vrabel could make it in the WWE. To nobody’s surprise, his answer was yes, and we couldn’t agree more.

“He’s big enough; I forgot how big he is,” Flair responded. “Remember, he was a linebacker so, probably at 260 right now. Absolutely, I can tell by talking to him he’s tough.”

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to hear what Flair said to the players, but in the two videos below you can hear the Titans playing his walk-up music as he approaches the players, and we also got a “woooo” at the end.

Watch: WWE’s Drew McIntyre trains with Titans ahead of SummerSlam

The WWE’s Drew McIntyre got a taste of the NFL when he trained with Titans OLB Ola Adeniyi recently.

With SummerSlam coming to Nissan Stadium in Nashville on July 30, the Tennessee Titans recently hosted wrestler Drew McIntyre to show him what it’s like to train in the NFL.

Also featured with McIntyre was Titans outside linebacker Ola Adeniyi, who took the professional wrestler through some football drills and workouts to show him the ropes.

“My first attempt at American Football and it was one of the hottest, hardest workouts of my life,” the Scotland-born wrestler wrote on Twitter. “I need this level of prep to get me where I need to be for SummerSlam. Thank you [Ola Adeniyi] and [the Titans] for putting me through my paces, I’ll be back July 30!”

Check out the video of Adeniyi and McIntyre training together below.

McIntyre, who lives in Nashville, is a two-time WWE Champion and could be facing a well-known Titans fan in Sheamus at SummerSlam, according to Bleacher Report’s Erik Beaston.
