Fighting game fans are making their own Street Fighter 6 TMNT skins

Capcom and Nickelodeon announced a Street Fighter 6 and TMNT collaboration at EVO 2023, but fans weren’t pleased with the price

Capcom and Nickelodeon announced a Street Fighter 6 and TMNT collaboration at EVO 2023, but fans weren’t pleased with the price. Each skin in the fighting game costs $15, so getting the whole collection runs you as much as a copy of Street Fighter 6 – unless you make your own (thanks, Polygon).

Fans who didn’t feel like shelling out the price of a new game just for a skin set are using Street Fighter 6’s extensive character creation tools to just make their own.

Saved £15

“Saved £15,” one user wrote on Reddit as a caption to their picture, showing the homemade TMNT skin standing next to the real thing. The likeness is pretty darn good as well, with face paint taking the place of the amphibian’s signature mask and other color splotches rounding out their accessories, bands, and the like.

“At 750 coins apiece, I’ll take the one on the left, a commenter said under another post on the Street Fighter 6 Reddit.

You vs the guy she tells you not to worry about
by u/LosDanyos in StreetFighter

Capcom took a Diablo 4 approach to Street Fighter 6 by adding paid cosmetics to a premium game, and the currency’s pricing and cosmetics’ pricing don’t always match up. A TMNT skin costs 750 coins, which is about $15, but you can’t buy 750 coins outright. You can spend $12 on 610 coins and then another $5 for 210 or $23.99 for 1,250 coins. The problem with the higher denominations is that you’re never left with enough coins to spend on another high-priced item – such as a second TMNT skin.

Annoying as the scenario is, the right combination of popular cosmetics usually gets people to pay anyway. As other commenters pointed out, Dead by Daylight does the same thing, and the price of one skin in Overwatch 2 is about the cost of an indie game like Tunic.

Street Fighter 6 is already the most popular fighting game on Steam

Just hours after Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 launched, it’s already become the most popular fighting game on Steam

Just hours after Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 launched, it’s already become the most popular fighting game on Steam. Twitter user Benji_Sales first spotted the numbers on SteamDB, which reached significantly higher heights than other hits such as Mortal Kombat 11 and even the popular Dragon Ball FighterZ.

SteamDB shows that, at the time of publication, Street Fighter 6’s concurrent player count is hovering at roughly 62,000. That’s down slightly from the peak of 66, 317, which SteamDB also records as Street Fighter 6’s top 24-hour peak – except it hasn’t even been 24 hours since the game launched.

Mortal Kombat 11’s all-time peak is 35,000, while Dragon Ball FighterZ had 44,300 players at its height, and Guilty Gear Strive peaked at 31,000

Meanwhile, Street Fighter 5’s all-time peak was around 14,000, so this a significant achievement for Capcom’s series.

It’s also not entirely surprising. The fighting genre is notoriously unforgiving, and while Street Fighter is often less complex than its competitors, the barriers for entry were still high in earlier games. Capcom designed Street Fighter 6 as a newcomer-friendly entry, complete with simplified “modern” controls and a robust story mode that doesn’t require going online at all.

The publisher has also enjoyed a string of recent hits, with Resident Evil 4 remake surpassing all others in the horror game series on Steam and helping the company reach record profits during its previous fiscal year.

Capcom announces Street Fighter 6 release date at The Game Awards

A Street Fighter 6 release date is still a little ways off, though at least one more beta should tide us over until then

Capcom announced the Street Fighter 6 release date during The Game Awards 2022, ahead of the fighting game’s second beta. Street Fighter 6 will launch on June 2, 2023, which was pretty much a given already, after the date leaked on the Sony PlayStation Store before the award ceremony began.

The latest entry in the long-running Street Fighter series will launch on PS4 and PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

The release date announcement comes ahead of the second Street Fighter 6 beta, which is set to run from Dec. 16, 2022, through Dec. 19, 2022. Capcom didn’t announce what features the beta will cover, but presumably, they may include modes that were barred in the first beta, such as campaign and certain arcade modes. The detailed character creator and its accompanying abominations will also make its return.

Check out the latest trailer and new additions to the roster below!

Applications for the beta are open now on Capcom’s website.

Capcom is offering three editions of Street Fighter 6: a standard, a deluxe, and an ultimate edition. The standard edition includes the game and a smattering of cosmetics. The deluxe edition adds the Year 1 Character Pass to expand its roster, and the ultimate edition comes with what looks like exactly the same thing. What makes it special isn’t quite clear just yet.

Latest Street Fighter 6 trailer shows off Colonel Guile

The world warriors assemble, and a familiar face is joining them.

After an impressive showing last week, Street Fighter 6 is back with more asphalt brawling.

During Summer Game Fest on Thursday, Capcom released another dazzling trailer for Street Fighter 6. However, unlike last time, this one focuses on series returner Colonel Guile — the buff guy with a ridiculous haircut seen throughout. Talk about brilliant character design work.

We actually caught a glimpse of Guile when Street Fighter 6‘s entire roster leaked online very recently. It’s still a crying shame that happened, but if nothing else, at least the cast looks incredible this go-around.

Check out the new Street Fighter 6 trailer for yourself below. The blend of fantastic art direction with RE Engine’s technical muscle is mighty impressive.

Thankfully, we won’t be waiting long to see more of Street Fighter 6. Next week, the Capcom Showcase is going down, where the publisher is showing off multiple already-announced projects. The Resident Evil 4 remake will probably be there as well.

Street Fighter 6’s roster has apparently leaked

A fan favorite has pants for the first time in more than two decades.

Hot off of Street Fighter 6‘s stellar gameplay reveal the entire roster has allegedly leaked online.

There’s a heavy emphasis on ‘allegedly’ here since there’s no direct source for the leak. One of the first places it popped up was Resetera, so let’s go with that. The leak is probably real since filesharing sites are taking it down fast. Spoiler warning for the details below if that sort of thing matters to you.

Returning characters seemingly include Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Ed, Zangief, Rashid, Dee Jay, Juri, and Cammy. That last one is of particular note since she finally put on pants, end of an era. Check out the artwork for yourself below.

Some close-up shots as well.

According to Polygon, newcomers include:

  • Mimi, a fighter from France
  • Marisa, the buff grappler lady from Italy in gladiator attire
  • JP, the dapper fellow from Russia using a cane
  • A.K.I., the white haired-woman from China with claw weapons
  • Riri or Lily (translations vary), the young woman from Mexico wielding clubs
  • Kimberly, a girl from America that somehow has a walkman in 2023

All of this is based on speculation, so things could change once Capcom makes things official. Either way, the character designs are fantastic, much better than Street Fighter 5.

The latest Street Fighter 6 trailer is full of white-knuckle brawls

The world warriors are coming together again for an epic battle.

Everyone loves watching a good fight. You and I both know it, and Street Fighter has proven that for decades – all while ensuring nobody actually gets hurt! Outside of accidentally smashing a thumb on an arcade stick, maybe.

During State of Play on Thursday, Capcom unleashed an extensive gameplay trailer for Street Fighter 6. No pre-rendered business this time; it’s all in-engine tussles between the world warriors. The goofy-looking logo is gone too!

In the trailer, you can see familiar faces like Chun-Li and Ryu, along with some newbies we haven’t met yet. Check out the new Street Fighter 6 trailer for yourself below.

Street Fighter 6 will launch on PS4 and PS5 sometime in 2023.
