DeShon Elliott injury update

It’s a mystery when DeShon Elliott hurt his back, as Tomlin did not mention Elliott after a Jets victory in which he played 60 snaps or during his Giants preview press conference.

The Steelers inked the former Raven, Lion, Dolphin during free agency and he’s been a defensive asset ever since, logging an interception, three defended passes, forced fumble, fumble recovery and 51 tackles in seven starts.

The good news is Elliott practiced in a limited capacity after not participating on Thursday, and there’s an extra day this week with the Monday Night Football matchup.

Roman Wilson injury update

Rookie Roman Wilson, selected in the third round of the NFL draft, is in Mike Tomlin’s dog house. Hampered by an ankle injury for the majority of training camp, Wilson’s appeared in just one game this season and injured his hamstring in practice leading up to the New York Jets matchup.

Tomlin sounded less than pleased about his first-year receiver in his presser this week, saying, “Roman needs to work for me to really consider him. His participation got compromised some last week and so really once it got compromised, I moved on.”

Nick Herbig injury update

The Steelers’ second-year outside linebacker sustained a hamstring injury in the loss to the Dallas Cowboys back in Week 5 and hasn’t played since. Herbig is not trending toward playing in Week 8, either, which is probably for the better. Pittsburgh’s Week 9 bye will provide banged-up players an opportunity to get right before their brutal second leg of the 2024 season.

Donte Jackson injury update

Another stupendous signing by the Steelers this offseason has been Donte Jackson. Jackson, who leads the team in interceptions (3), exited early from the Jets game with a shoulder injury.

Jackson’s second straight full practice is music to the Steelers’ secondary ears.

Raiders, Steelers Week 6 final injury report: Steelers without couple pass rushers

Steelers will ithout couple pass rushers and starting linebackers Sunday vs the Raiders

Both the Raiders and Steelers have their top pass rusher. That’s the good news. But both teams also are suffering from depth at the position.

This week the Steelers are officially without starting linebackers Nick Herbig and Alex Highsmith, along with DE DeMarvin Leal, making them pretty thin at linebacker and edge rusher.

Herbig in particular is second on the team in sacks (2.5) and tackles for loss (three) behind only TJ Watt. And Highsmith is a full time starting linebacker.

Overall, the Steelers are pretty banged up, with six players officially OUT, four of whom are defenders.

The Raiders injury list is long, but several of the players who had been missing from practice early in the week returned on Friday and are Questionable for the game including WR Jakobi Meyers (ankle), G Jackson Powers-Johnson (knee), and RB Zamir White (groin).

The only players officially OUT are Davante Adams (hamstring) and TE Michael Mayer (personal). And, of course, Christian Wilkins (foot) was placed on IR this week.

Raiders, Steelers Week 6 injury report: WR Jakobi Meyers misses another practice

WR Jakobi Meyers missed another practice Thursday along with several other Raiders starters

Thursday didn’t lead to many players returning to practice among the Raiders lengthy injury list.

Still missing from practice were WR Davante Adams (hamstrong), DE Maxx Crosby (ankle), TE Michael Mayer (personal), WR Jakobi Meyers (ankle), G Jackson Powers-Johnson (knee), and RB Zamir White (groin). And downgraded to DNP was LB Tommy Eichenberg.

https://twitter.com/LeviDamien/status/1844507358191616001

The only Raiders player returning to practice was LT Kolton Miller.

The Steelers had two players return to practice — LB Alex Highsmith and TE Pat Freiermuth.

Those still missing due to injury for the Steelers included S Domontae Kazee (ankle), LB Nick Herbig (hamstring), DE DeMarvin Leal (neck) and WR/KR Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle).

Steelers vs Raiders injury updates: Multiple players miss Wednesday practice

The Steelers had a mix of players on the Wednesday practice report.

On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers got a full workout in and got their first look at the roster heading into this week’s game with the Las Vegas Raiders. 10 players sat out on Wednesday but not everything was bad news.

Quarterback Russell Wilson went through a full workout which only muddies the waters more about who head coach Mike Tomlin will start this week against the Raiders. Running back Jaylen Warren was also on the field for a limited workout, opening the door for a potential return this week.

Raiders, Steelers Week 6 injury report: LB Divine Deablo FULL go, in line to start

LB Divine Deablo FULL go, in line to start Week 6 vs Steelers

A mixed bag for the Raiders on their Wednesday injury report. First and foremost, they placed start defensive tackle Christian Wilkins on injured reserve, which is why you won’t see him here. But they also had linebacker Divine Deablo as a full participant for the first time since Week two.

Among those missing from practice Wednesday were WR Davante Adams (hamstrong), DE Maxx Crosby (ankle), TE Michael Mayer (personal), WR Jakobi Meyers (ankle), T Kolton Miller (knee/shoulder), G Jackson Powers-Johnson (knee), and RB Zamir White (groin).

Those missing due to injury for the Steelers included S Domontae Kazee (ankle), LB Nick Herbig (hamstring), LB Alex Highsmith (groin), and WR/KR Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle).
