Pittsburgh Steelers at Atlanta Falcons odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Pittsburgh Steelers at Atlanta Falcons odds and lines, with expert NFL picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Atlanta Falcons welcome the Pittsburgh Steelers to Mercedes-Benz Stadium Sunday for the season-opening game for both teams. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Steelers vs. Falcons odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Steelers went 10-7 last season, losing to the Buffalo Bills 31-17 in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. Pittsburgh added Denver Broncos QB Russell Wilson and Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields to revamp its offense. It should have a tremendous defense again, holding 9 regular-season opponents to under 20 points a season ago. The Steelers lost all 3 preseason games leading up to this one.

The Falcons also have a signal-calling change as they added QB Kirk Cousins, who was with the Minnesota Vikings last season. Atlanta is the favorite to win the NFC South with their consistent passer under center. The Falcons also lost all 3 meaningless preseason games coming into this one. Atlanta was 5-12 against the spread (ATS) last season.

Steelers at Falcons picks and predictions

Prediction

Falcons 20, Steelers 17

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no great value here. The Falcons will be at home and have a better offense than Pittsburgh, so they should come out on top but aren’t worth a play. Similarly, the Steelers are far better played on the spread.

Against the spread

BET STEELERS +3.5 (-108).

The Pittsburgh Steelers haven’t had a losing season since 2003. Under head coach Mike Tomlin, the Steelers have been among the most consistent teams in the NFL, and with a veteran quarterback, they should be able to have much-better game management.

Pittsburgh has a stout defense, and it should be able to keep this game close. It lost by 3 twice a season ago and was 6-5 ATS as an underdog. The Falcons have Cousins under center, but in his first game in a new offense, there could be some rust. They struggled to cover last season and failed to cover in their last 4 home games.

Back STEELERS +3.5 (-108).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 41.5 (-105).

Both teams have a new starting quarterback, and both also have an elite secondary. The Falcons have a tremendous safety duo and have key cornerbacks as well to limit what Wilson can do, and the Steelers have a few of the best pass-rushing defenders.

The Falcons went Under in 6 of their last 7 regular season games, and the Steelers went Under in 7 of their last 8. Expect a similar style of play. Take UNDER 41.5 (-105).

First look: Pittsburgh Steelers at Atlanta Falcons odds and lines

Looking at Sunday’s Pittsburgh Steelers at Atlanta Falcons Week 1 NFL odds, lines and trends. Here’s what you need to know.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Atlanta Falcons open the NFL regular season Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we look at Steelers vs. Falcons odds from BetMGM Sportsbook before making our expert NFL picks and predictions later in the week.

The Steelers have a new look, as veteran Russell Wilson beat out Justin Fields for the starting QB job. After a 10-win season with a turnstile at quarterback last season, Pittsburgh is looking for a little more stability.

Against the NFC in 2023, the Steelers were 3-2 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) in 5 games. The Under had a 3-2 edge in 5 games against NFC foes.

For the Falcons, they were just 7-10 last season, so they made some big moves. Atlanta inked QB Kirk Cousins to a lucrative contract, while adding WR Darnell Mooney to help WR Drake London and TE Kyle Pitts in the pass game. The Falcons look like they could have an explosive offense in 2024.

The Falcons were 3-2 SU against AFC teams in 2023, while going 2-3 ATS. As far as the total is concerned, the Under went 4-1 in the 5 games vs. AFC.

Steelers vs. Falcons head-to-head

These teams have met 5 times since 2006. The most recent meeting was a 19-16 victory by the Steelers in Atlanta on Dec. 4, 2022. Pittsburgh has not only won the past 4 meetings, it has covered all 4 of those outings, too.

The Under has cashed in 3 of the past 4 meetings, including the previous 2 meetings in Atlanta.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Atlanta Falcons odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Pittsburgh Steelers at Atlanta Falcons odds and lines, with expert NFL picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0) and Atlanta Falcons (1-0-1) meet Thursday in Week 3 preseason action. Kickoff from Mercedes-Benz Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (NFL Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Steelers vs. Falcons odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

Pittsburgh cruised to a 27-15 win vs. the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. The Steelers’ big-play ability was on full display in that win, with RB Jaylen Warren opening the game with a 62-yard rushing TD. QB Kenny Pickett looked solid yet again and he connected with TE Pat Freiermuth on a 25-yard pass in the 1st quarter.

QB Mitch Trubisky played the majority of the game for Pittsburgh, going 10-for-13 for 78 yards and a TD. QB Mason Rudolph also made an appearance, going 5-for-7 for 52 yards. Coach Mike Tomlin will play the Steelers starters on offense vs. the Falcons.

Atlanta is coming off a 13-13 tie vs. the Cincinnati Bengals. QB Desmond Ridder completed 7 of 9 passes for 80 yards with an interception that many thought should’ve been called back due to penalty. Ridder led an impressive, but penalty-plagued, drive at the end of the game that led to the game-tying FG with 2 seconds left.

Steelers at Falcons picks and predictions

Prediction

Steelers 24, Falcons 17

Moneyline

PASS.

I like the Steelers to win but at (-190) the line is not worth the juice. Bet on the spread and/or Over/Under instead.

Against the spread

LEAN STEELERS -4.5 (-110).

Tomlin plans to play all of his younger starters on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, which gives the Steelers the advantage. I expect the Falcons to do some of the same, but the Steelers’ units have looked very good so far. Look for them to beat the Falcons by a good margin as they have won each of their 2 preseason games by double digits.

Over/Under

BET OVER 38.5 (-110).

This Steelers offense has shown they can put up points, scoring 27 in each of the 1st 2 preseason games. Last season the Steelers offense only scored 1 offensive TD of over 25 yards; this preseason they have 4. The Falcons have had a solid defense throughout the preseason and a questionable offense, but if Smith starts the offensive starters then expect this game to hit the Over with how solid those starters looked last week.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Atlanta Falcons odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Pittsburgh Steelers at Atlanta Falcons odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Pittsburgh Steelers (4-7) visit the Atlanta Falcons (5-7) Sunday at 1 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Steelers vs. Falcons odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

A 19-13 loss to Washington was not what the Falcons wanted last Sunday. The team had a chance to win, but a critical red-zone interception from Marcus Mariota cost Atlanta the game. With Tampa Bay’s loss, the Falcons  remain just 1 game back in the weak NFC South Division.

The Steelers feel good after a 24-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night. But despite the win, Pittsburgh is still 4th in the AFC North. While the team is struggling, QB Kenny Pickett had some moments on Monday and his progress means good things for the future in Pittsburgh. His connection with WR George Pickens is something the team can build on. If Najee Harris can get healthy, there is a solid young core for the Steelers to count on.

Steelers at Falcons picks and predictions

Prediction

Falcons 24, Steelers 21

Moneyline

BET FALCONS (-105).

If you are going to bet the ML, do not bet the spread at 1. Both odds are similar and choosing either is fine in this game. Same goes for the Steelers.

Against the spread

PASS.

If you bet the ML then skip the spread as the numbers are the same. If you decide to wager on the spread, then skip the ML. it is as simple as that in this game.

Over/Under

BET OVER 42.5 (-109).

This game will be close. With 2 not-so-good teams and a close spread, I like the Over to hit. When Watt is healthy, the Pittsburgh defense is entirely different. With injured ribs heading into this game, the defense will not be as good, and the Falcons will be able to use Mariota in the run game and Drake London in the pass game to move the ball. The Steelers will also be able to move the ball against a bad Atlanta defense. I do not think this game is a shootout, but it does get into the 40s. Give me OVER 42.5 (-109).
