The Raptors covered as 1.5-point underdogs Sunday in a 106-103 win at the Memphis Grizzlies. Seven Raptors players scored in double-digits as Toronto came back from a 15-point 2nd-half deficit. The Raptors are 0-6 against the spread (ATS) in their last 6 home games after a road trip of 7 or more days.

Spurs at Raptors picks and predictions

Prediction

Spurs 120, Raptors 119

Moneyline

Sprinkle on SPURS (+410).

San Antonio has lost 9 straight, but the Raptors are also in a bad spot. For the 1st time in franchise history, Toronto won a majority of its games on a road trip of 7 or more days and returns home to face a lot of speculation surrounding the trade deadline. The Raptors struggled for 3 quarters at Memphis and were somewhat lucky that the Grizzlies fell apart late. A Spurs win isn’t probable, but it is more likely than the line suggests.

Against the spread

BET SPURS +10.5 (-108).

The Raptors are laying too many points for a team that has consistently performed below expectation when returning from long road trips. In addition, Toronto may lack focus Wednesday playing a team that it beat by 43 points in the last meeting.

San Antonio showed signs of life at Chicago and even held a 4-point lead late in the 3rd quarter before collapsing. Look for the Spurs to come out extra motivated to end their losing streak and for former Raptors C Jakob Poeltl to have a big game.

Over/Under

BET OVER 232.5 (-108).

The Over is 10-2 in Toronto’s last 12 games after covering in its previous contest and 5-1 in the Raptors’ last 6 home games vs. teams with a road winning percentage under .400. The Over has hit in 4 of the last 5 meetings and Wednesday’s matchup should be another offensive showcase.

San Antonio Spurs at Toronto Raptors odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s San Antonio Spurs at Toronto Raptors and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The San Antonio Spurs (14-21) head to Jurassic Park Tuesday for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off with the Toronto Raptors (16-17) at Scotiabank Arena. Below, we look at the Spurs vs. Raptors odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

San Antonio has lost three straight to the Utah Jazz 110-104 Dec. 27, at the Memphis Grizzlies 118-105 Friday and at the Detroit Pistons 117-116 in overtime Saturday.

The Spurs are 2-3 straight-up (SU), 3-2 ATS and 3-2 O/U over the last two weeks with the seventh-best non-garbage time net rating at plus-7.3 points per 100 possessions, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Toronto has won back-to-back games over the Los Angeles Clippers 116-108 Friday and the New York Knicks 120-105 Sunday.

The Raptors are 2-2 SU, 3-1 ATS and 4-0 O/U over the last 14 days with the 22nd-ranked non-garbage time net rating at minus-3.3 points per 100 possessions (per CTG).

Spurs at Raptors odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 113, Spurs 102

Money line

PASS even though I’ll lay the points with Toronto because the Raptors (-280) are way out of my price range for an NBA regular-season money line favorite.

Against the spread

BET the RAPTORS -6.5 (-112) they have covered seven of their last eight games and I’d argue that oddsmakers are not accurately pricing in the health of these two teams.

The Spurs could be without their two best players by adjusted on/off net rating (per CTG), Bates-Diop (plus-9.8 net rating) and Murray (plus-6.9 net rating). It’s not a coincidence San Antonio is 1-3 SU and ATS with Murray out of the lineup.

On the other hand, this is the healthiest the Raptors have been all season and their recent numbers are skewed because Toronto got crushed 144-99 by the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, the Raptors were missing several players due to injury and COVID-19. Toronto has otherwise played well lately.

Toronto also has a strength-on-weakness edge in its favor on the glass. The Raptors have the second-best offensive rebounding rate and scores the second-most second-chance points per game. The Spurs are 21st in defensive rebounding rate and are 25th in second-chance points allowed per game.

BET the RAPTORS -6.5 (-112).

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the UNDER 225.5 (-112) for a one-third unit because the Spurs play much lower scoring games on the road and the Raptors play much lower scoring games at home.

San Antonio’s average road score is 108.1-107.5 and Toronto’s average home score is 105.9-104.3. Furthermore, the Spurs are 6-11-1 O/U on the road with a minus-4.4 total margin.

That said, Toronto has gone Over the total in seven consecutive games, San Antonio plays at the third-fastest pace and the Raptors plays the second-highest frequency transition offense.

San Antonio Spurs at Toronto Raptors odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s San Antonio Spurs at Toronto Raptors NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Toronto Raptors (21-34) come off yet another loss and will host the San Antonio Spurs (26-26) in the second half of a back-to-back Wednesday. Tip-off at Toronto’s 2020-21 home of Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla., will be at 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Spurs-Raptors odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Raptors fell 108-103 to the Atlanta Hawks on their home court Tuesday. It was their fourth loss in their last five games and their seventh defeat in 10 outings.

The Spurs have won back-to-back games with the most recent coming against the Orlando Magic by a commanding 120-97 score Monday. San Antonio is 2-2 over its last four games and will play the finale of a five-game road trip Wednesday.

San Antonio is ninth in the Western Conference and Toronto is 11th in the East. These teams met in Texas Dec. 26, with the Spurs winning 119-114 as 2.5-point underdogs.

Spurs at Raptors: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Spurs 122, Raptors 108

Money line (ML)

The SPURS (-175) are the clear choice as they continue fighting for positioning in the Western Conference play-in tournament while the Raptors have essentially seen their postseason hopes evaporate by going 4-15 since the All-Star break.

San Antonio takes excellent care of the basketball and has a sizable edge over Toronto in rebounding.

The Raptors should be closer to a full lineup Wednesday, but VanVleet is likely to remain out.

Spurs SG Demar DeRozan also loves playing his former team with 22.0 points per game, 7.4 rebounds per game and 7.6 assists per game over five reunions.

Against the spread (ATS)

This is a short line and the SPURS -4 (-110) must be backed to win by 5 or more points.

Personally, I don’t love betting trends as they often don’t consider context, but the Raptors are 3-9 ATS on the second half of a back-to-back for the season and lose those games by an average of 10.1 points while failing to cover by an average of 9.2 points. That’s a consistent problem this team has in regrouping for Game 2.

They are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games overall while three of the Spurs’ last four wins were by double-digit margins.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 222.5 (-110).

The Raptors are 7-5 O/U against the number in the second half of back-to-backs. While the Spurs are 2-9 against the O/U with a rest advantage, they’ll be able to handle the bulk of the score with DeRozan leading the way.
