Are the San Antonio Spurs going to draft Rob Dillingham?

Are the San Antonio Spurs going to draft Rob Dillingham in the 2024 NBA Draft?

The San Antonio Spurs have a chance to add a top-tier talent to their young core in the 2024 NBA Draft. They will have a top pick, and bringing in another young star to pair with Victor Wembanyama should be a top priority. One guy who they have been connected to fairly heavily is Kentucky guard Rob Dillingham.

According to LJ Ellis of SpursTalk, Dillingham has made it clear to other teams that he wants to go to San Antonio. In addition, the Spurs are reportedly going to draft Dillingham with their top pick regardless of where their selection lands, as they are very high on him.

The CLAN the SPURS fan YouTube channel recently discussed this, going over whether or not San Antonio will draft Dillingham, as well as some thoughts on the matter.

In 32 games for the Wildcats this summer, Dillingham averaged 15.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.9 assists while shooting 47.5% from the field and 44.4% from behind the three-point line.

Report: Robert Dillingham telling teams he prefers to go to Spurs

According to a recent report, Kentuckuy gurad Rob Dillingham has made it clear that he wants to go to the San Antonio Spurs.

As the 2024 NBA Draft inches closer, the San Antonio Spurs are going to have to make some important decisions. However, it looks as though one potential prospect selection has distinguished himself from the rest. According to LJ Ellis of SpursTalk, Rob Dillingham has made it clear to other teams that he wants to go to San Antonio, and the Spurs are likely to select him with their pick if he’s available.

“Dillingham’s camp is telling anyone who will listen that his preferred landing spot is in San Antonio,” Ellis wrote. “Multiple scouts have told me it’d be surprising if the Spurs pass on Dillingham due his seamless fit next to Victor Wembanyama. ‘If [Dillingham] is on the board, I’m convinced the Spurs pick him — even with the first pick,” a scout for a Western Conference team told me.'”

Adding a guy like Dillingham to the roster would give the Spurs a huge boost in the shot-creation department, as well as a top-notch ball-handler.

The duo of Dillingham and Victor Wembanyama would immediately be one of the best young tandems in the NBA.

Should the Spurs consider drafting Kentucky guard Rob Dillingham?

Is Rob Dillingham a good potential draft fit for the San Antonio Spurs?

This summer will be an important one for the San Antonio Spurs. As they look to build out the roster around star big man Victor Wembanyama, they’ll have multiple chances to make changes. Free agency and the trade market will be crucial, but the Spurs will also have to nail their pick(s) in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Getting some more ball handling next to Wembanyama is undoubtedly going to be a top priority for the Spurs, and there’s a chance they could find someone in the draft to help in that area. One guy to keep an eye on will be Kentucky guard Rob Dillingham, who just wrapped up an impressive rookie season with the Wildcats.

Spurs select Nikola Topić, potential point guard of future, in recent mock draft

In a recent 2024 NBA Mock Draft, the San Antonio Spurs picked up a potential point guard of the future – Nikola Topic.

Roughly six months after the San Antonio Spurs selected Victor Wembanyama with the first pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, things haven’t gone too well. Following a promising 3-2 start to the season, the Spurs have now lost 17 games in a row. It’s been a rough year, but on the bright side, they’re in line for another top pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Pairing Wembanyama with another top pick could set the Spurs up beautifully moving forward, but they need to be sure to nail the selection. Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report recently wrote a mock draft, and in it, the Spurs landed the second-overall selection.

With the pick, Wasserman has the Spurs picking Nikola Topić of Mega MIS.
