The San Antonio Spurs have posted the moment they selected Stephon Castle to YouTube for fans to re-watch the moment they added the UCONN guard.

The San Antonio Spurs selected Stephon Castle with the 4th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The 19-year-old guard is a one-and-done prospect out of UCONN, having thrived as part of Dan Hurley’s championship roster. He will now team up with Victor Wembanyama as part of the Spurs rebuilding efforts.

Mock draft sees Spurs take Tidjane Salaun with No. 8 pick

Could the San Antonio Spurs select Tidjane Salaun in the NBA Draft?

Heading into the offseason, the NBA Draft will provide the San Antonio Spurs with a solid opportunity to snag new young pieces. In ESPN’s latest NBA mock draft, the Spurs selected French forward Tidjane Salaun with the eighth pick in the draft.

“Salaun has arrived in the U.S. for workouts, but will head back overseas next week to the NBA’s pre-draft camp in Treviso, Italy, to complete his required medicals and testing,” wrote Jeremy Woo. “He has gained steam as a lottery candidate after finishing his season in strong form, showcasing his physical tools and potential versatility at either forward spot.

“Salaun, yet to turn 19, is still a ways away from contributing at a high level, but the room for long-term growth makes him an appealing development pick in the mid-to-late lottery. His familiarity with Victor Wembanyama likely doesn’t hurt his case as an option for San Antonio, but the Spurs are considering a handful of prospects at this spot, including Dillingham, Nikola Topic, Cody Williams and Dalton Knecht.”

Could the Spurs create a new French duo with Salaun and Victor Wembanyama?

Stephon Castle goes to Spurs at pick No. 4 in mock draft

In a recent NBA mock draft, the San Antonio Spurs picked up UConn guard Stephon Castle.

The San Antonio Spurs have two top-10 picks in this year’s draft. With them, they have an opportunity to add solid young talent next to Victor Wembanyama. In ESPN’s latest mock draft, they have the Spurs selecting UConn guard Stephon Castle with the fourth pick.

“The Spurs have been exploring all options with their two top-10 picks as they enter a critical offseason,” wrote Jeremy Woo. “With Victor Wembanyama on a superstar-level trajectory, San Antonio has an opportunity to accelerate its path toward the playoffs, whether that’s via the draft, trades or other means. The biggest roster need is at point guard, and rival teams have connected the Spurs to the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Darius Garland as they work to revamp the team.

“Keeping both these picks and taking multiple swings in the draft is also an attractive path, with the challenge being nailing the right pairing of players who will fit together with Wembanyama. San Antonio has demonstrated strong interest in Castle, who might well land here if the Spurs stay put. Castle’s two-way versatility, playmaking potential and size give him attractive upside, and also make him an easy player to pair with whomever the Spurs draft at No. 8.”

Castle’s upside at the point guard position makes him a very intriguing target for the Spurs.

Mock draft has Spurs taking Stephon Castle with No. 8 pick again

In this mock draft, the San Antonio Spurs picked up UConn guard Stephon Castle with the eighth pick.

With two top-10 picks in the 2024 NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs should be able to bring in some solid young prospects to help Victor Wembanyama move forward into the future with a chance to be great. Travis Branham of CBS Sports wrote a mock draft that has the Spurs taking Stephon Castle with the eighth pick. And it’s not the first time this has been mocked.

“The Spurs are building a roster around superstar Victor Wembanyama and want to add young talent at No. 8 to grow alongside their Frenchman,” Branham wrote. “While Castle isn’t the best available on the board, there’s a lot to like about his upside. He displayed versatility at UConn in 2023-24 and under the Spurs’ development program, has a chance to be San Antonio’s point guard of the future.”

Castle could be a solid point guard at the NBA level, and it would make sense for the Spurs to take a chance on him.

If they can also nail their fourth pick, snagging Castle at eight would be a good idea.

Mock draft sees Spurs take Reed Sheppard with No. 4 pick

In this mock draft, the San Antonio Spurs picked Reed Sheppard with the fourth pick.

The San Antonio Spurs have two top-10 picks in the 2024 NBA Draft. With them, they should be able to snag some great young talent to put next to Victor Wembanyama. In a recent mock draft written by Travis Branham of CBS Sports, the Spurs selected Kentucky guard Reed Sheppard with the fourth pick.

“As the Spurs look to build around its superstar and last year’s No. 1 pick, Victor Wembanyama, there’s not a more fitting player for the organization than Sheppard,” Branham wrote. “Sheppard is an analytical darling who complements all of those around him with his skill, feel and IQ. He’s a connector, playmaker and lethal shooter from deep.”

Sheppard’s shot creation and elite three-point shooting make him a great fit next to Wembanyama, especially considering how badly they need their offense to improve.

Snagging Sheppard would be a great pick for the Spurs if they could get him with either of their top picks.

Another NBA mock draft has Spurs taking Rob Dillingham with No. 8 pick

Yet another NBA mock draft has Rob Dillingham going to the San Antonio Spurs.

Rob Dillingham has been largely linked to the San Antonio Spurs, and the fit makes a ton of sense, given the team’s need for playmaking next to Victor Wembanyama. Brian Lewis of the New York Post recently mocked Dillingham to San Antonio at pick eight, and Matt Rooney of Bleacher Nation made the same choice.

“Dillingham can beat you in so many different ways offensively,” Rooney wrote. “He can get to the hoop, finish at the rim, find the open man, and get hot shooting the ball. He’s a versatile guard who showed special flashes at Kentucky but might need some development time in the NBA. He’s not an awful defender, but not particularly noteworthy on that end either. He has a very high ceiling but needs time to develop.

“The Spurs can afford him that time and allow him to learn on the job alongside a talented young core. They also need a future guard to pair with Wemby.”

At this point, Dillingham to the Spurs seems like a fairly likely conclusion.

Recent NBA mock draft has Spurs taking Matas Buzelis with pick No. 4

A recent NBA mock draft sees the San Antonio Spurs take Matas Buzelis with the fourth pick.

The San Antonio Spurs have two top-10 picks in this year’s draft, providing them with a great opportunity to add young talent to the roster. If they nail their selections, they could greatly improve Victor Wembanyama’s chances of winning. Matt Rooney of Bleacher Nation has the Spurs selecting Matas Buzelis with the fourth pick in his latest mock draft.

“If Risacher doesn’t fall to the Spurs, Buzelis would be a very nice option for them,” Rooney wrote. “He has a similar skillset and can do a little bit of everything. The length the Spurs would have on the floor between him and Wemby could create a lot of problems for opposing teams. He is versatile on offense, though his ball handling could be more consistent. Defensively, he’s capable of guarding multiple positions. He won’t be a top option offensively early in his career, but his catch-and-shoot ability gives him quite the upside.

“Plus, giving Gregg Popovich the chance to develop Buzelis seems like a great fit.”

Buzelis seems like a bit of a project, but as Rooney mentioned, that could make San Antonio a solid fit for him.

NBA mock draft projects Spurs to select Dalton Knecht with pick No. 8

A recent NBA mock draft sees the San Antonio Spurs take Dalton Knecht with the eighth pick.

The San Antonio Spurs should focus on improving their future at the NBA Draft, but another goal should be to help the team compete right now. Luckily, there are some prospects who can do both, and Tennessee wing Dalton Knecht is one of them. In No Ceilings’ latest mock draft, they have San Antonio picking up Knecht at eight.

“The Spurs still need point guard help, but there aren’t any point guards that make a ton of sense in this range,” wrote No Ceilings. “Devin Carter could be a nice fit, but it’d be a bit of a reach. Instead, doubling down with another electric off-ball scorer makes a lot of sense. Dalton Knecht was one of the most versatile and reliable scorers in the country as he routinely dropped 30 in the SEC. At Tennessee, Knecht had to do nearly everything on offense, which led to some inefficiencies and limitations.

“With the Spurs in more of an off-ball role, though, Knecht could quickly emerge as an immediate contributor. As defenses collapse and focus on Wembanyama, Knecht is the ideal outlet. He is a fantastic off-ball shooter who can also create his own look. The Spurs offense frequently struggled to find scoring, but Knecht could be a very quick fix to their shooting struggles.”

Adding Knecht’s shooting and shot creation next to Victor Wembanyama and Devin Vassell would create the backbone of a potentially-lethal offense.

Mock draft has Spurs taking Zaccharie Risacher with No. 4 pick

In a recent NBA mock draft, the San Antonio Spurs snagged Zaccharie Risacher with the fourth pick.

The San Antonio Spurs’ offseason has already begun, but the action doesn’t truly get underway until the NBA Draft. With two top-10 picks, the Spurs have a chance to truly shape their future. No Ceilings’ latest mock draft projects them to land Frenchman Zaccharie Risacher with the fourth pick.

“The biggest gripes with Zaccharie Risacher’s game have been his shooting versatility and lack of offensive creation,” they wrote. “With the San Antonio Spurs, though, those would quickly be masked over. From day one, Risacher could be put in a simplified role that perfectly elevates his strengths and allows him to contribute to winning basketball. Risacher has terrific physical tools that make him a menace on defense. Risacher can not only guard nearly anyone on the perimeter, but he is also an incredibly reliable team defender.

“Pairing his length, athleticism, and defensive prowess with Victor Wembanyama and Devin Vassell is very exciting. Offensively, Risacher’s game is very limited. He’s a terror in transition and proved all season to be a highly reliable spot up shooter. He has shown flashes of fun on-ball creation, but he’ll likely rarely be put in a position to do that anyway. Instead, he can maximize his off-ball movement and scoring by being a reliable cutter and spot-up shooter playing off Wembanyama’s gravity.”

Two Frenchmen leading the way in San Antonio? Maybe. Just maybe.

Mock draft has Spurs selecting Rob Dillingham with pick No. 8

In a recent NBA mock draft, the San Antonio Spurs picked up Rob Dillingham with the eighth overall pick.

The San Antonio Spurs like Rob Dillingham. That’s what all of the recent rumblings have indicated. And according to reports, the Kentucky guard likes the idea of playing for the Spurs, too. In a recent NBA mock draft written by Brian Lewis of the New York Post, the Spurs picked up Dillingham with the eighth overall pick.

“Measured as small as 6-1, he won’t bring size or wingspan,” Lewis wrote. “But Dillingham will definitely bring outside shooting. He’s a walking bucket and showed that in Lexington. If he can continue to develop his playmaking, he could be a nice asset for San Antonio and Wembanyama, who will need point guard help.”

Adding Dillingham’s ball handling and shot creation would help the Spurs’ offense, and if he can develop great chemistry with Victor Wembanyama, San Antonio would be in a great spot moving forward.

The only question is, will Dillingham be available at the eighth pick?
