Former NBA player identifies team he would want Bronny James to join

NBA analyst Channing Frye thinks one NBA team could really help Bronny James evolve.

Turner Sports NBA analyst Channing Frye joined the Dan Patrick Show before the NBA draft. He discussed why, if Bronny James was his son, he’d want him to be drafted by Gregg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs to play with Victor Wembanyama.

There is plenty of speculation surrounding Bronny James before the NBA draft, but the likely outcome is that he will go to the Los Angeles Lakers. It is probable that he will go to the Lakers at pick No. 55, but there is also a chance he could go undrafted and will then sign a two-way contract with the Lakers. If the Lakers do not take Bronny at No. 55, the Dallas Mavericks could take Bronny a few picks later at the very end of the draft. Do the Lakers want to bring Bronny into the fold so much that they will use their 55th pick on LeBron James’ son, or will the Lakers bank on Bronny being undrafted and therefore being able to sign a contract right after the draft ends? We’re all about to find out.

Here’s more from Channing Frye, below:

San Antonio Spurs host former USC guard Boogie Ellis before NBA draft

The Spurs would be an exciting destination for Boogie Ellis.

We are less than a week away from the 2024 NBA draft. Workouts are being held. Rumors of which teams have their eyes on specific prospects are heating up. Former USC senior guard Boogie Ellis was recently hosted by Gregg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs.

According to Hoops Hype’s 2024 Draft Workout Tracker, San Antonio also met with future lottery picks Zaccharie Risacher, Tidjane Salaun and Reed Sheppard.

USC’s captain averaged 16.5 points and three assists per game but battled through numerous injuries in the process. Reflecting on the end of his career with the Trojans, Ellis told the LA Times:

“A lot of things in life don’t go the way you planned. But at the end of the day, you just gotta keep moving forward, just gotta make the best out of every situation.”

The 6-foot-2 San Diego native would be a solid fit with the Spurs and would most likely be a projected two-way player at the next level. He could also be a high-end backup guard. He has six years of college experience between Memphis and USC.

Ellis is expected to be an early second-round pick in the 2024 NBA draft.

LA Clippers add Josh Primo to full-time active roster

Josh Primo’s two-way Clippers contracted converted to a standard NBA deal

Former Alabama shooting guard Josh Primo was one of the most promising prospects to come out of the program all-time as he was selected 12th overall by the San Antonio Spurs. At the time of the 2021 NBA draft when Primo was selected, he was only 18 years old and one of the youngest draft picks in the past couple of years. In 54 games with the Spurs, Primo averaged 5.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists on 37.2 percent shooting in 19.6 minutes per game.

Unfortunately, things did not work out with the Spurs and he was ultimately released by the team in Oct. of 2022. After spending nearly a year away from the game, the Los Angeles Clippers swooped in to sign Primo to a two-way contract on Sept. 29. On Monday, Primo’s two-way deal was converted into a standard NBA contract meaning he will be entirely with the active NBA roster and won’t spend time playing with their G-League affiliate.

Between Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, Russell Westbrook and Paul George the Clippers have a lot of really expensive players on their roster. Meaning, that they will need young and cheap players like Primo to give them reliable minutes when the stars are sitting out as they get older. The Clippers especially have been notorious for allowing players to indulge in load management so I think Primo will get good minutes in LA.
