For the first time this season, Michigan State will need to bounce back from a loss.

The Spartans dropped their first game of the 2021 season on Saturday, losing at Purdue, 40-29. With the loss, the Spartans will drop in our weekly power rankings, but how far will they slip?

We have made it to the final month of the season, with a noticeable separation between the top and bottom teams of the Big Ten. That includes the Spartans who are near the top of the conference.

Another week, another massive upset in the Big Ten.

This week it was Penn State who was knocked off as a double-digit favorite, with the Fighting Illini picking up the improbable win. That upset drops the Nittany Lions and boosts Illinois, but where do the rest of the league’s teams land?

Three of the league’s best teams were off this week, but that didn’t mean there wasn’t more shakeup near the top of our weekly power rankings.

Purdue did the unthinkable and knocked off previously unbeaten No. 2 Iowa on the road, which resulted in a steep drop in the rankings for the Hawkeyes. Michigan State found a way to remain unbeaten and avoid Indiana’s upset bid, and because of that moved up in the rankings. What about the rest of the league? There were only 10 teams in action this week across the Big Ten, but that didn’t mean there wasn’t plenty of movement in our weekly power rankings.

Michigan State, Iowa and Michigan each picked up big-time victories, and because of that they all joined Ohio State at the top of the league. Of those four teams, who should be at the top of the list? Check out where I rank each of the Big Ten teams to see who I believe are the best squads across the league:

We learned a lot this week when it comes to who’s for real and who’s not in the Big Ten.

There were numerous big-time matchups across the Big Ten this weekend, and in those, we were able to determine which teams we can truly buy into — such as Michigan, Iowa and maybe even Nebraska — and who appear to be frauds — looking at you Maryland, Rutgers and Wisconsin. With that being said, it’s safe to say there was a ton of movement in this week’s updated power rankings.

It was a great weekend for some teams, but also a miserable weekend for some too. That includes Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The two rivals that battle for Paul Bunyan’s Axe both had troubling losses this weekend and both dropped in this week’s power rankings. Most of the league stayed in the same spot otherwise.

The Big Ten is once again proving why it’s one of the best conferences in college football, with the league flexing their muscles on Saturday.

Michigan State, Penn State and Minnesota each picked up wins over non-conference power five foes, while Michigan, Ohio State and Iowa each took care of business in easier match-ups. However, it wasn’t all good for the league with Indiana and Nebraska losing to ranked opponents this past weekend.
