Is Michigan State the worst team in the Big Ten? A few weeks ago I couldn’t imagine asking myself this question but that’s where things have gotten to in just a three-week span.

The Spartans dropped their third straight game on Saturday — this time at the hands of Maryland, 27-13. It was yet another double-digit loss and now has many fans — including myself — wondering if Michigan State will win another game this year.

It was another rough week for the Big Ten (or at least many in the league) — including our Michigan State Spartans.

Michigan State dropped its first game of the season, with a blowout loss at Washington on Saturday night. The Spartans’ defense failed to pile up stops, creating a hole they simply couldn’t come back from.

See where Michigan State lands in our updated power rankings following a season-opening victory over Western Michigan in Week 1

Everyone in the Big Ten has officially kicked off the 2022 season, and there were a lot of positives for each team in the league.

Week one is in the books and each Big Ten team has lined up and all but one has picked up a victory — sorry Purdue. Michigan State picked up a season-opening victory over Western Michigan but it wasn’t always pretty for the Spartans. So with that, will we see Michigan State drop in our updated power rankings or hold their spot as one of the top three teams in the league?

The college football regular season and championship weekend is officially over.

It was the Michigan Wolverines who were the last ones standing this year in the Big Ten, with a convincing championship game win over Iowa. The Big Ten title was the first for Michigan since 2004, and the Wolverines will now move on to the College Football Playoff.

The Spartans were off this week, but will certainly be preparing for an upcoming big-time bowl game. Michigan State will next take the field against Pitt in the Peach Bowl on Dec. 30.

Michigan State ended the season 10-2, and by far exceeded preseason expectations. So where do the Spartans land in the final power rankings of the season? See where I rank Michigan State and the rest of the Big Ten teams in our latest batch of Big Ten power rankings:

Michigan State has had a great season, but the Spartans still have a long way to go to catch up to the Buckeyes. That is clear after Saturday’s 56-7 blowout in Columbus.

Michigan State took a beating from Ohio State on Saturday afternoon, and the Spartans are officially out of the Big Ten title race with the loss. The Spartans still have plenty to play for this week against Penn State, with an opportunity to reach 10 wins and potentially land in a New Year’s Six game.
