A former Spartan has been promoted by the Philadelphia Phillies

Trent Farquhar was a stand out with Michigan State baseball, before latching on with the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Dearborn native, who started his career at Bowling Green, will be climbing up the ranks of professional baseball, as the Phillies have promoted the former Spartan to A+ ball with the Jersey Shore BlueClaws.

Former Spartan gets promoted within Miami Marlins organization

Brock Vradenburg is making his way up in the Miami Marlins organization:

Brock Vradenburg was a standout for Michigan State for three seasons before getting drafted in the third round of the 2023 MLB Draft by the Miami Marlins.

Now, within the Marlins organization, the former Spartan slugger is someone that has been swinging the stick well in the minor leagues, so well he has been promoted to Beloit, Wisconsin’s High-A team of the Marlins.

Detroit Tigers claim former Michigan State baseball P Anthony Misiewicz

The Detroit Tigers have acquired former MSU LHP Anthony Misiewicz

Former Michigan State pitcher Anthony Misiewicz has carved out a very nice MLB career for himself as a left handed relief pitcher. He has spent the past four seasons pitching for the Seattle Mariners, Kansas City Royals and Arizona Diamondbacks. He has pitched in 126 games over those seasons.

After battling some injury problems in Arizona this season, the Diamondbacks designated Misiewicz for assignment, and the Tigers jumped on the opportunity to get the lefty from Anchor Bay.

Misiewicz will start in Toledo, but look for him to make the move back up to the majors soon.

Cam Vieaux called up to major league roster by Pittsburgh Pirates

Another former Spartan has been called up to the big leagues and is poised to make his MLB debut

Another former Michigan State Spartan has made their way to the major leagues. Cam Vieaux has officially been called up to the major league roster by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Vieaux was a member of the Michigan State baseball program from 2014-2016 before being drafted by the Pirates in the sixth round of the 2016 MLB June Amateur Draft.

A native of Novi, Michigan, and an alumnus of Walled Lake Western High School, Vieaux is a great story of a hometown kid making it to the big leagues.

Brock Vradenburg was selected by the Miami Marlins with the 78th overall pick in the third round of this year’s MLB Draft. Vradenburg was an All-American for the Spartans in 2023 and is showing to be one of the best players to come through the MSU baseball program.

Now, Vradenburg is starting his professional career in the Marlins organization for the team’s Class-A affiliate Jupiter Hammerheads. He just reached his first milestone as well, hitting his first professional home run:

Philadelphia Phillies sign MSU baseball’s Trent Farquhar as a NDFA

Michigan State baseball infielder Trent Farquhar has inked a deal with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Trent Farquhar is the latest Spartan to get a contract from an MLB organization, joining three fellow teammates who were drafted in the 2023 MLB Entry Draft.

After going undrafted, the Phillies have inked a deal with the Spartan infielder as a non drafted free agent.

Farquhar had a career year with the Spartans, batting .343 and a .936 OPS. He will look to make an impact from day one when he starts with the Phillies minor league organization.

Spartan 1B Brock Vradenburg has been selected in the 3rd round of the MLB Draft

Brock Vradenburg had a masterful season with Michigan State in 2023, picking up a multitude of All-American honors after having one of the best hitting season in program history. Now, that historic season has been paid off by earning a selection in the 2023 MLB Draft.

After teammate Mitch Jebb was selected in the second round yesterday, Vradenburg has been selected in the third round today.

The Miami Marlins have selected the Spartan first basemen with the 78th overall selection in the third round of the draft.

A former Spartan will now be wearing the New York Yankees iconic pinstripes:

Former Michigan State pitcher Anthony Misiewicz has carved out a very nice MLB career for himself as a left handed relief pitcher. Michigan State baseball alum Brandon Hughes got the call to the big leagues to join the Chicago Cubs, the team that drafted him in the 16th round of the 2017 MLB Draft. Hughes has run the gamut through the Cubs minor league system, starting in rookie ball and making his way all the way to triple-A. It was a slight adjustment moving from being a primary outfielder and changing positions to be a relief pitcher, but he has caught on very quickly to be one of the best relievers in the Cubs system.

The same day Hughes was called up, he was brought in to make his debut in a relief effort against the Pittsburgh Pirates. You can watch highlights from his stellar performance in his debut below:

Chicago Cubs to call up Michigan State baseball alum Brandon Hughes

Former Spartan standout Brandon Hughes got the call to the big leagues from the Chicago Cubs

Brandon Hughes officially got the call that every minor league baseball player is striving to get, the call to the big leagues. The Chicago Cubs will be welcoming the Spartan baseball alumnus to Wrigley Field today to join the big league club for a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Hughes was a 16th-round draft choice by the Cubs in the 2017 MLB Draft after spending three seasons in East Lansing with Michigan State. Hughes was a standout outfielder for Michigan State and started his career in the Cubs organization as an outfielder before converting into a left-handed relief pitcher.
