Ezekiel Elliott’s mom wasn’t happy to see Skip Bayless retrieve her son’s jersey from the trash

That didn’t take long.

Just last month, Fox Sports personality Skip Bayless had seen enough of Ezekiel Elliott. And he chose to voice that displeasure in the Cowboys running back with a blatantly staged stunt where he tossed Elliott’s No. 21 jersey in the trash.

From the moment Bayless posted that video, it was plainly obvious that Bayless was going to retrieve the jersey from the trash when the video stopped and jump right back on the Ezekiel Elliott bandwagon once Elliott had a big game. Even Ezekiel Elliott’s mother, Dawn Elliott, saw through the disingenuous stunt and told Bayless to never wear that No. 21 jersey again.

So, you won’t be surprised to see what happened after Elliott rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns in Dallas’ win over the Rams on Sunday. Bayless took the jersey out of the trash, and Elliott’s mother did not approve.

“Finally, Zeke convinced me today to retrieve his jersey,” Bayless wrote as a video showed him retrieve the Elliott jersey from a trashcan curiously placed in front of a microwave and missing a bag.

It took him just four weeks to completely walk back on the stunt.

Ezekiel Elliott’s mom called out Skip Bayless for throwing away her son’s jersey

It needed to be said.

Fox Sports personality Skip Bayless has built a career as a talking head on the basis of two things: his irrational LeBron James hatred and unabashed love for the Dallas Cowboys.

Just as Stephen A. Smith stages weekly meltdowns about the Knicks, Bayless needs to visibly show his disappointment whenever the Cowboys let him down. It’s all theatrics. But Ezekiel Elliott’s mother, Dawn Elliott, is calling Skip’s bluff.

Shortly after the Cowboys lost Sunday’s home game against the Vikings, Bayless posted a video of himself taking an Elliott No. 21 jersey and tossing it into a trashcan before walking into another room.

Of course, this entire reaction was staged. Bayless went through the effort to preemptively set up a camera in order to show himself “throwing away” the Elliott jersey. In all likelihood, Bayless took the jersey out of the trash once the video ended. Elliott had just 47 yards on 20 carries in the loss.

Once that video hit Twitter, Dawn had her own response to Bayless. She doesn’t want to see him wearing that No. 21 jersey again.

Thank you, Dawn. Someone had to say it.

It was so plainly obvious that Bayless was trying to make a disingenuous statement about Elliott’s off night. The next time the Cowboys running back has a big game, you can bet that Bayless will pretend his jersey toss never happened.

At least now the Elliott family will be watching for it.

Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless are …

Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless are poised to pull off a possible reunion at ESPN’s “First Take,” sources told Front Office Sports. Bayless’ current contract with Fox Sports expires in 2020, said sources. Smith refers to Bayless as his “brother from another mother.” The former “First Take” sparring partners could reunite on the “Embrace Debate” morning show that turned them both into national stars. “They both want to make it happen. I’m just not sure ESPN will hit Fox’s number,” said one source.
