If there’s one person who could pull off a backflip and a superhero landing after throwing out a first pitch, it’s probably Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings star Simu Liu.
Sunday was Marvel Night for the San Francisco Giants, and who better to toss out the first pitch than Liu after the successful opening of the franchise’s newest superhero flick. Not only did Liu deliver a strike down the middle — and with great wind up and form too! — he also nailed an impromptu backflip on the mound and stuck the landing in true superhero style.
It’s absolutely one of our favorite first pitches we’ve seen in some time, so take a look!
How about that for a first pitch? đ± pic.twitter.com/Pe6aG2VBhh

Liu himself tweeted about his first pitch experience too, with some jokes of course.
That pitch was like 500% faster in my head đ GO GIANTS! @shangchi https://t.co/lhLXvVQzTD

Not only that, there’s a story to Liu’s backflip as well. In his audition for the titular role in Shang-Chi, Liu ended his tape with a backflip into the infamous Black Widow superhero pose, an acrobatic feat that helped him land the role.
I’m so here for Liu making the backflip and superhero landing pose his thing from now on. Just look at how cool that was!
