Simeon Wilcher to play in UA Elite 24 in Chicago

UNC basketball commit Simeon Wilcher will showcase his talent at the UA Elite 24 event in Chicago this weekend.

UNC basketball commit [autotag]Simeon Wilcher[/autotag] has elevated his game this Summer on the AAU circuit. As the Tar Heels’ lone commit in the 2023 class, Wilcher is still proving why he should be rated higher than he is in prospect rankings.

And this weekend he will have the chance to prove it again.

Wilcher will participate in the Under Armour Elite 24 event in Chicago this weekend as one of 24 players named to the game. The event showcases some of the top talent in high school basketball and is another honor added to Wilcher’s resume, which continues to grow as he enters his final year of high school ball.

Below are the two teams that will play in the event:

The game will take place on August 12th at Chicago’s Northerly Island.

Wilcher will look to continue his hot play, coming off a big showing at the Peach Jam a few weeks ago.

UNC commit Simeon Wilcher named ‘Mr. Efficiency’ after Peach Jam

UNC basketball commit Simeon Wilcher was named ‘Mr. Efficiency’ from one national analyst after his play at Peach Jam.

The final live session of the summer has ended on the AAU circuit and for UNC basketball commit [autotag]Simeon Wilcher[/autotag], it ended with a terrific showing at Peach Jam.

Playing for City Rocks, Wilcher was named the Co-MVP of Pool Play last week after he led his team to an undefeated record. Despite losing in bracket play in the quarterfinals, he had a phenomenal week, one that turned heads after an up and down start to the summer.

Wilcher averaged 17.8 points per game on 50 percent shooting from the field. He also averaged 4.8 assists per game and 4.7 rebounds.

The guard had numerous standout performances, including a 30-point game on 10-of-12 from the field.

On Tuesday, he was named ‘Mr. Efficiency’ from Rivals national recruiting director Rob Cassidy.

“Wilcher averaged 19 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds during pool play and did so while shooting better than 50% from the floor. One game saw the point guard score 30 points on an almost unfathomable 83% shooting. Wilcher had a bit of an unstable start to the spring, but he has found his stride down the stretch and inserted himself back in the discussion for top point guard in the class during his run in Augusta. Wilcher is a true thee-level scorer that brings a rare brand of intensity to every possession.”

Wilcher is ranked No. 13 in the 247Sports Composite rankings and is a five-star combo guard.

As a junior, Wilcher averaged 16.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.0 steals per game.

Simeon Wilcher earns Co-MVP honors during Peach Jam pool play

2023 UNC basketball commit Simeon Wilcher earned Co-MVP honors of Peach Jam’s pool play, helping lead his team to an undefeated record.

UNC basketball commit [autotag]Simeon Wilcher[/autotag] has had a terrific week down at Peach Jam for the Nike EYBL live session and this recent honor shows exactly that.

On Friday, Peach Jam named Wilcher Co-MVP of pool play. Wilcher, who plays for City Rocks AAU, averaged 19.2 points, 5.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and shot 53.8 percent from the field in five games. City Rocks is undefeated thus far.

Wilcher flirted with a triple-double earlier in the week and also had a 30-point game while shooting 10-of-12 from the floor. On Thursday, the final day of pool play, Wilcher had 21 points on 10-of-17 from the field.

Wilcher is UNC’s lone commit in the 2023 class after G.G. Jackson announced his de-commitment from the program last week. However, Wilcher continues to improve his overall game and should climb the recruiting rankings when it’s all said and done.

Right now, Wilcher is a five-star point guard ranked No. 14 in the 247Sports composite rankings.

UNC Basketball commit Simeon Wilcher comes up clutch

UNC basketball commit Simeon Wilcher had the game-sealing basket as well as an awesome slam dunk in a win at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam.

[autotag]Simeon Wilcher[/autotag] is having himself a heck of a start to the annual Nike EYBL Peach Jam event.

After flirting with a triple-double in the opener and then dropping 30 points on Sunday, Wilcher was back at it again on Tuesday night and this time he helped his team rally to earn an overtime victory.

Wilcher had the key bucket late in City Rocks’ 79-76 win over Georgia Stars, draining a shot to give him 19 points on the game. The bucket sealed the deal for City Rocks and helped Wilcher keep his hot start going.

The UNC commit also had a nasty dunk as Trent Markwith caught on video with Wilcher going down the lane and throwing it down:

Wilcher is really elevating his game here during the AAU circuit and as UNC’s lone commit in 2023 now that G.G. Jackson is gone, Tar Heels fans have to feel good about what they are seeing so far.

If Wilcher keeps this up, there’s no doubt he will climb recruiting rankings and improve on that five-star grade.

UNC commit Simeon Wilcher drops 30 points in AAU game

Five-star UNC basketball commit Simeon Wilcher is an early standout at the annual Nike EYBL Peach Jam in South Carolina.

The annual Nike Peach Jam event is one of the biggest AAU events of the entire year as some of the top recruits descend on South Carolina for the event each July. And this year, a UNC basketball commit is making some noise early on.

Five-star guard Simeon Wilcher is off to a fast start for City Rocks in the event. On Saturday, Wilcher flirted with a triple-double as he scored 14 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and 7 assists. He followed that up with a big scoring performance, dropping 30 points on 83% shooting from the field during a game on Sunday in a win.

Wilcher is UNC’s lone commit here in the 2023 class after G.G. Jackson announced his de-commitment from the program a week ago. However, Wilcher continues to improve his overall game and should climb the recruiting rankings when it’s all said and done.

The New Jersey native has been on a tear of late and that’s great news for the future of UNC’s program.

Simeon Wilcher picked UNC to play on the big stage

Five-star guard Simeon Wilcher reveals why he picked the UNC Basketball program and how he wants to play on the biggest stage.

With the decommitment of G.G. Jackson last week, the UNC basketball program has just one commitment in their 2023 class. That commitment comes from five-star guard[autotag] Simeon Wilcher[/autotag] who has improved his stock over the past year, climbing into the Top 25 in recruiting rankings.

The New Jersey native is one of the better guards in this 2023 class and with Caleb Love likely gone after this year and potentially R.J. Davis as well, UNC will need to reload in the backcourt.

For Wilcher, he committed to UNC back in October of 2021 and his reasoning was simple: He wants to play on the biggest stage to make his dream come true.

Here is what Wilcher said about that in a recent article via Kevin Flaherty of CBS Sports:

“For me, it was really just putting myself on a stage where I feel like my dream would be able to come true. And at North Carolina, the stage doesn’t get bigger than that,” Wilcher said. “Even though I knew that Coach Hubert hadn’t coached a game yet, I knew he was a pro for a very long time, so he knows what it takes to win games and for you to become a professional. So I just trusted him in that. And then when I got on campus, it just felt right.”

Wilcher will have that chance to play on the biggest stage as UNC is still a national brand coming off an appearance in the national title game a year ago.

UNC will continue to play in big games throughout the year and land in primetime TV spots, allowing Wilcher to show off his skills and hopefully catch the attention of those at the next level.

UNC offers emerging 2023 four-star forward TJ Power

The UNC basketball program offered emerging 2023 four-star forward TJ Power as his recruitment is beginning to become a national one.

The UNC basketball program has extended an offer to one of the hottest prospects in the country, 2023 four-star wing [autotag]TJ Power[/autotag].

Power, who plays for Team BABC on the Nike EYBL circuit, had a huge weekend in Kansas City during the first live period in July. He averaged 23.7 points on 51.8 percent (43-of-83) from the floor, 45 percent (18-of-40) from three and 82.6 percent (38-of-46) from the free throw line. He also added 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 assist per game.

He had two monster performances, however. One was a 33-point and 10-rebound game on Friday night that was then followed up by a 41-point, 10-rebound and 5-assist game on Saturday.

247Sports national recruiting director Eric Bossi broke down his game and performance during the live session.

“Nobody seemed to generate more of a buzz from the assembled college coaches than TJ Power,Bossi said. “The forward from Worcester (Ma.) Academy was crushing it all weekend long for BABC and had coaches going particularly crazy after a 41 point outing on Saturday night. On Sunday, the 6-foot-8 Power looked a little bit gassed and understandably so. BABC was a little short handed for the weekend and he had to be his team’s best scorer, rebounder and passer through a grueling and competitive round of six games over the course of about three and a half days. Even so, he played with intensity and energy and showed flashes of what could turn out to be elite shot making ability on the next level and serious positional versatility.

“Currently ranked just outside of the top 50 by 247Sports, Power has put himself in position to make a large jump after the summer because of his size and tools.”

Power has been hearing most from Indiana, Virginia, Notre Dame, Boston College, Providence and Iowa up to this point.

UCLA and Kansas also offered Power after his strong weekend.

The Worcester (Ma.) Academy forward averaged 13.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists helping lead them to a 23-7 record and Class AA state title last season.

The Tar Heels have a hold on the No. 2 overall recruiting class in 2023 behind arch-rival Duke. They have commitment from five-star prospects GG Jackson and Simeon Wilcher.

Simeon Wilcher has big game Nike EYBL session

UNC basketball commit Simeon Wilcher shines at the Nike EYBL event in Kansas City over the weekend, scoring 28 points.

North Carolina’s 2024 recruiting class is set up for the program to have success in the coming years. Hubert Davis and his staff have landed two five-star recruits already in [autotag]Simeon Wilcher[/autotag] and G.G. Jackson.

Both players have the potential to be stars at UNC and it should get fans excited for the future of the program.

While the rumors are swirling about Jackson and his recruitment, Wilcher remains firm on UNC. And he’s also showing why he should climb up the recruiting rankings as well.

Wilcher had a monster game on Saturday in Kansas City as part of the Nike EYBL session. He finished the game with 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists while shooting 58 percent from the field:

The recruit has had a good AAU circuit so far this Summer, despite seeing his ranking in the 247Sports rankings go down a few months ago. Playing at this level should give him even more confidence and with a full year before he’s on UNC’s campus, he can get even better.

2023 four-star guard says UNC basketball would be ‘dream offer’

Four-star wing Jamie Kaiser calls a potential offer from UNC basketball a ‘dream’, as he has some connections to the Tar Heels’ program.

Hubert Davis and UNC basketball continue to keep tabs on multiple 2023 prospects who have yet to receive offers from the Tar Heels.

One of those players is four-star guard [autotag]Jamie Kaiser[/autotag]. Kaiser has been one of the top performers on the Adidas 3SSB circuit over the last few weeks and continues to be monitored by UNC.

While no offer has been extended, Kaiser knows a lot about the Tar Heels and says it would be his ‘dream offer’, according to On3.com.

“I heard that UNC would come to a couple of my games. I’ve not talked to them directly yet, but my high school coach has talked with them. I went to Burke (VA) Lake Braddock High, and Hubert Davis went there. I’m friends with his nephew. That would be a dream offer, but I am very happy with what I have now and very appreciative of what I have.”

Kaiser has a main group of offers from Indiana, UCLA, Maryland, Virginia, Wisconsin, Harvard, and more. A UNC offer would put them right in the mix.

Originally the four-star prospect wanted to announce his commitment in June but after a few new programs jumped in, he decided to push that timeline back. He’s now looking for a decision this fall.

The Alexandria (Va.) Bishop Ireton wing is ranked No. 38 in the On3.com rankings. He is also No. 75 in the 247Sports rankings and No. 142 in the Rivals150 rankings.

UNC currently has the No. 3 overall class. They have commitments from No. 1 player in the class and five-star forward GG Jackson and then fellow five-star prospect in guard Simeon Wilcher.

Analyst predicts South Carolina will flip top UNC commit

South Carolina picks up a prediction for UNC basketball commit GG Jackson amid all of the potential decommitment rumors flying around.

Let the [autotag]GG Jackson[/autotag] rumor season continue. Over the last week it has been nonstop chatter about the potential that Jackson will decommit from UNC and either reclassify to 2022 and enroll at South Carolina, or go the pro route.

Despite shutting down rumors earlier this week, the chatter continues and now South Carolina has picked up a prediction to flip Jackson from North Carolina.

According to On3.com recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw, the Gamecocks have a good shot at making that happen.

Jackson remains the No. 1 overall prospect on the almost every major recruiting site and has even raised his play since his commitment to UNC.  The talented forward has been a standout at multiple events, most recently named the MVP of the NBPA Top 100 Camp last week.

This is one to keep a close eye throughout the reminder of the summer. UNC currently holds two commitments in the class of 2023, Jackson and five-star point guard Simeon Wilcher.

The Tar Heels still have a hold on the No. 2 overall recruiting class in 2023 behind arch-rival Duke.
