Former LSU star Shaquille O’Neal bought an engagement ring — but it wasn’t for him. It was for a stranger who he spotted in an Atlanta Zales jewelry store.
Shaq was out shopping for a new pair of earrings for himself when he came across this man who he describes as a “young, hard-working guy” trying to pay off his ring on layaway.
“I saw the guy, he was just so shy,” O’Neal said. “He was saying, ‘Hey, how much do I owe to pay off the ring.’”
The good deed was caught on camera and O’Neal can be seen discreetly taking out his credit card and handing it over to the store clerk just as the young man was getting ready to purchase the ring.

At first, the young man was opposed to taking the gift. However, the LSU legend assured him that he does this sort of thing all the time and the man shouldn’t think twice about it.
“You know what, tell your girlfriend I got it,” O’Neal said. “Take care of her.”
The two shook hands and posed for a picture when all was said and done. It’s the little things like this that mean a lot to O’Neal.
“This is something I do every day,” O’Neal said. “I’m into making people happy. So, whenever I leave the house, I just try to do a good deed,” he said.

Not a day goes by where the ex-Lakers basketball player ceases to amaze in several different ways, going above and beyond to share his wealth and pay it forward.
Here’s to hoping we all run into Shaq in our local Zales.
