Marvel released a featurette on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and it was full of good information, looking ahead at the coming film while connecting back to previous movies. President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige explained how Shang-Chi is linked to the original Iron Man film.
“Going back to the very beginning of the MCU, we have a keystone event, and that event is, Tony Stark becoming Iron Man,” Feige said in the video, posted Friday. “He’s forced to build these weapons for an organization. And that organization was the Ten Rings.”
The connection is well known among comic book fans, but it may be less obvious to the average moviegoing Marvel fan. The studio loves weaving plot lines between one superhero and another, so it will be interesting to see if Marvel deepens the overlap between Iron Man and Shang-Chi.
That’s just one of many interesting plot points we learn during this video. Check it out.

It seems Shang-Chi’s relationship with his father will be at the center of what is likely to be an awesome installment in the MCU. Shang-Chi comes to theaters September 3.
