A new world record was set in the mixed 4×400 meter relay at the Olympics and half of the history making team ran collegiately at Texas A&M.

A new world record was set in the mixed 4×400 meter relay on Friday at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris and half of the history making team ran collegiately at Texas A&M.

Former Aggies Bryce Deadmon and Shamier Little were joined by Vernon Norwood and Kaylyn Brown in finishing the race in 3:07.41.

“I always knew we were going to run fast,” Little said afterwards. “We talked about, you know it’s going to take a record to get a medal, but it took a record to win our prelim.”

The previous record was 3:08.80, set in 2023 by another group of Americans. Deadmon ran fastest among the bunch, doing so in a jaw-dropping 44.17 seconds.

“I guess we’ve got a lot left,” Deadmon said. “I didn’t think we were going to do that today, so I’m excited for tomorrow for sure.”

The quartet will go for the gold on Saturday at 1:55 p.m. CT.
