Texas Baseball: Longhorns dominate Stephen F. Austin

The Texas Longhorns baseball team won for the the second consecutive night, beating the SFA Lumberjacks in a one-game series.

The Texas Longhorns (22-8) were riding a four-game win streak heading into Wednesday’s matchup with Stephen F. Austin. Texas would win the game by a score of 9-1.

The Longhorns scored early and often. Eight of the teams points were scored in the first four innings and Texas didn’t allow a run until the top of the eighth.

Ivan Melendez continued his hard-hitting ways hitting two of three at-bats, brining in four RBI’s including a three-run home run in the fourth.

Also in the fourth inning, Zach Zubia hit a one-run home run, his second hit of the game.

Pete Hansen (3-1) got the win for Texas, pitching 6.0 innings, allowing only two hits and no runs with three strikeouts. Sam Walbridge also got three strikeouts pitching in relief for only 1.0 innings.

With the game already out of reach, DJ Petrinsky came in for a one-run home run to put the finishing touch on another blowout victory for Texas.

The Longhorns will host Kansas State in a three-game series starting on Friday.
