Two UNC commits named to USA Men’s U18 Training Camp roster

Two UNC basketball commits earned tryout invites to the Team USA U18 team for training camp in May.

Two UNC basketball commits will compete for a spot on the USA Men’s U18 roster in late May, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Both [autotag]G.G. Jackson[/autotag] and [autotag]Seth Trimble[/autotag] were named to the USA Men’s U18 Training Camp roster. They are two of 27 athletes named to the roster with 12 spots on the USA Basketball U18 National Team which will compete at the 2022 FIBA U18 Americas Championship in Tijuana, Mexico, from June 6-12.

Per USA Basketball, this is the full list of tryout players:

Representing the class of 2021 is Corey Floyd.

The class of 2022 will be represented by Mark Armstrong, Amari Bailey, Anthony Black, Eric Dailey Jr., Dior Johnson, Ty Rodgers, Nick Smith Jr., Seth Trimble, Jordan Walsh, Kel’el Ware and Cam Whitmore.

Expected to participate from the class of 2023 are Matt Bewley, Omaha Biliew, Xavier Booker, Kanaan Carlyle, Stephon Castle, Isaiah Collier, Caleb Foster, Brandon Gardner, Brandon Garrison, Gregory ‘GG’ Jackson, Carter Lang, Jared McCain, Ja’Kobe Walter and Bryson Warren.

Trimble is a four-star prospect that committed to UNC in 2021 and is the highest-rated prospect in their 2022 recruiting class.  Jackson committed to UNC recently as a five-star recruit in the 2023 class.

It’s nice to see some of Hubert Davis’ recruits earn some recognition like this in terms of camp invites. Now it’s time to go earn that roster spot.

Dick Vitale thinks highly of UNC going into 2022-23 season

ESPN analyst Dick Vitale has the UNC Basketball program as his number one team for the 2023 season in his early elite eight.

We are still months away from the start of the 2022-23 college basketball season but already the UNC basketball program is receiving praise by national analysts. The latest is ESPN’s Dick Vitale who put out his top teams for his “Elite Eight” going into next season.

And right there at the top stand the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Vitale listed Hubert Davis’ team No. 1 in the rankings beating out No. 2 Houston, No. 3 Kentucky, No. 4 Arkansas and No. 5 Gonzaga. Here is what Vitale had to say about the Tar Heels’ squad for next season with some decisions from players still pending:

Hubert Davis was 20 minutes away from the national title as his Tar Heels had a 15-point halftime lead on Kansas. Carolina will learn from that. Davis was thrilled when [autotag]Armando Bacot[/autotag] and [autotag]Leaky Black[/autotag] announced their plans to return to Chapel Hill. The success of the upcoming season will depend on the status of [autotag]Caleb Love[/autotag] and [autotag]R.J. Davis[/autotag], who are determining their futures. The Tar Heels also welcome 6-9 recruit [autotag]Jalen Washington[/autotag] and point guard [autotag]Seth Trimble[/autotag].

As it stands right now, UNC is set to return starters Armando Bacot and Leaky Black while guard R.J. Davis is also likely coming back. The biggest decision left is Caleb Love who should announce his decision any day now.

The Tar Heels will have to replace Brady Manek but do return key players like Puff Johnson who got good minutes down the stretch last season. Plus, they welcome in a very talented recruiting class headlined by Seth Trimble.

WATCH: Simeon Wilcher throws down big dunk in AAU game

North Carolina 2023 commit Simeon Wilcher threw down a huge dunk in the opening weekend of AAU action this weekend.

The future backcourt of North Carolina is in good hands thanks to some extremely talented players in the coming recruiting classes. [autotag]Seth Trimble[/autotag] is set for 2022 and in 2023, [autotag]Simeon Wilcher[/autotag] will enter the UNC program looking to be the next star Carolina point guard.

The Roselle Catholic (NJ) point guard is ranked No. 10 overall in the Rivals150 Class of 2023 rankings and No. 18 in the 247Sports rankings.

Wilcher helped Roselle Catholic to a New Jersey State Championship this season while averaging 16.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. He had 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the State Title game.

With AAU play beginning this past weekend, Wilcher took no time to make an impact, throwing down a huge dunk for New York Renaissance Hoops.

Wilcher committed to North Carolina on October 15 over programs such as Arkansas, Auburn, UConn, Illinois, Kansas, Memphis and many others.

“I really just felt like it was a second home,” Wilcher told Rivals of his commitment. “I was extremely comfortable from the moment I stepped on campus. That usually doesn’t happen. Immediately, I was like ‘Oh yeah. This is right. This is the place. Then you add in the lineage, and the legacy and the guards that come out of there. I knew it was right.”

The 6-foot-5 guard has the ability to play both on and off of the ball and will surely be a large part to UNC’s future success.

UNC basketball recruit Seth Trimble named AP Player of Year in Wisconsin

UNC Basketball guard Seth Trimble earned AP Player of the Year honors in the state of Wisconsin to wrap up his career at Menomonee Falls.

As the UNC basketball program heads to New Orleans for the Final Four, recruits are wrapping up their senior seasons before they arrive on campus in a few months.

[autotag]Hubert Davis[/autotag] and his staff have an impressive 2022 class that features four recruits with one of those recruits, Will Shaver, already with the team. But joining Shaver will be four-star guard [autotag]Seth Trimble[/autotag], four-star center Jalen Washington and three-star forward Tyler Nickel. The new recruiting class will look to come in and make an impact right away and help find more success next season.

For Trimble, he’s wrapping up his senior year at Menomonee Falls with a big season. And he’s being rewarded for it.

Trimble was named the AP Player of the Year for the state of Wisconsin on Monday, capping off a stellar season:

He adds this accolade to others including being named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Wisconsin as well.

The 6-foot-3, 184-pound Trimble committed to UNC over 14 other offers including Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, and Wisconsin among others.
