Report: Spurs sign Seth Millner to final two-way spot

The San Antonio Spurs have signed Seth Millner to a two-way contract.

The San Antonio Spurs have filled their final two-way spot. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Spurs have signed Seth Millner to a two-way deal, rounding out their three two-way spots alongside Dominick Barlow and Sir’Jabari Rice. Millner went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft after spending three years at Toledo.

Millner began his collegiate career at Cleveland State before taking a year off during the 2019-20 season. He played for the Spurs’ Summer League team this offseason, appearing in three games in Las Vegas and two in Sacramento. The 23-year-old is a 6-foot-6 wing who could potentially turn into a sharpshooter.

In his five accumulative Summer League games with the Spurs, Millner averaged 5.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 32.3% from the field and 29.4% from distance. However, his collegiate stats should give Spurs fans a bit more hope about the type of player he could be.

Millner’s senior season at Toledo was his best in college. In 35 appearances, he averaged 16.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 49.6% from the field and 42.0% from three-point range.

As the Spurs look to build a team around Victor Wembanyama, taking chances on players who could turn into specialists is a smart play.

Barlow showed a ton of potential in Summer League and could be a guy the Spurs could roll out next to Wembanyama in the frontcourt at times. Rice is a solid guard prospect who could help fill out San Antonio’s rotation there should he pan out.

In the case of Millner, the Spurs are getting a solid wing who has shown some serious shooting potential in the past. That type of player is valuable in the NBA.
