Remember those front office changes that general manager Elton Brand signaled after the season ended? Well, they’re finally coming to light.

After letting Director of Scouting Phil Jabour leave for the Sacramento Kings, the Sixers are now parting ways with another member of the front office. They are parting ways with Vice President of Strategy Sergi Olivia who is going to stay in the NBA by accepting a coaching position with the Utah Jazz.

Olivia had been with the Sixers for six seasons starting in 2014 as a Basketball Operations Analyst before moving up the ranks in the organization and he was promoted to his final post this season.

Olivia is a guy from the Bryan Colangelo era so this could be Brand’s way of reimaging the front office to his liking. He did mention that he would like to bring in more “basketball minds” and the hire of Doc Rivers and Dave Joerger on the coaching staff is a good step toward that.
