AEW Rampage results 04/05/24: Daniel Garcia’s time to shine

A look at the results of the April 5 episode of AEW Rampage.

While it’s WrestleMania weekend in the United States, AEW takes its action north of the border to London, Ontario, Canada for another edition of Rampage. It squares off with the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony.

A packed ROH Supercard of Honor preceded Rampage, and a chaotic episode of Dynamite earlier this week also saw Samoa Joe and Swerve Strickland sign the contract to make their AEW World Championship match official. So how will AEW’s Friday show continue the momentum?

Rampage has a stacked lineup with four matches on the card. Malakai Black of House of Block is in action, as well as Roderick Strong taking on a local talent. Additionally, Serena Deeb tries to show why she’s the “Professor” of AEW. And to close out the night, a Four-Way Elimination match pits some of the company’s best up-and-coming talent

AEW Rampage results from London, Ontario:

  • Roderick Strong introduces the first-ever Roderick Strong International Challenge; he interviews London Lightning, a hometown wrestler; Strong criticizes London’s name and asks him what his chances are in this match; London says his mother is cheering him on from the couch, and his odds of winning are better than Strong’s

AEW Collision results 03/02/24: Revolution Eve in Huntsville

AEW Collision filled in the final spot on the Revolution card and added a match to the pre-show as well.

We’re so, so close to AEW Revolution now. In fact, we’re so close that AEW Collision isn’t live tonight, having been taped earlier this week in Huntsville, Ala.

It’s a go home show for sure, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing important happening. For one, there’s a three-way match that will fill the final spot in the

AEW Collision results:

  • Buddy Matthews was supposed to wrestle an unknown opponent when he was attacked by Mark Briscoe; a wild brawl ensued that also drew in other members of the House of Black, but Briscoe was able to fight them all off and nearly managed to burn Matthews with the pyro and flame jests before the House retreated
  • Swerve Strickland admits that Hangman Adam Page tricked him good on Dynamite, but also says it won’t happen again and that he’ll take the AEW World Championship from Samoa Joe at Revolution
  • Dante Martin def. Bryan Keith and Penta El Zero Miedo by pinning Keith to win a spot in the All-Star 8-Man Scramble at Revolution
  • Page is shown angrily explaining that he isn’t proud of the deception he pulled off but insists “I had to do it”
  • Mariah May def. Angelica Risk by pinfall; afterward, “Timeless” Toni Storm blows by May right after the bell and calls for Deonna Purrazzo to join her in the ring, and the two friends turned rivals exchange one last set of threats, then some blows after Storm kisses Purrazzo on the cheek; May tries to help Storm but gets beaten up for her efforts
  • Bang Bang Scissor Gang (Anthony Bowens, Colten Gunn and Max Caster) def. Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, Evil Uno and John Silver) by pinfall

  • Lexy talks to Serena Deeb, who says she’s been putting on clinics week after week; she says anyone watching who thinks they’re the best should step up and prove it against her
  • Private Party def. Christopher Daniels and Matt Sydal by pinfall, thanks in large part to assistance from Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett, and the two groups teased a new alliance after the win
  • A video package hypes the Revolution match between Eddie Kingston and Bryan Danielson, with some additional words from both men
  • Thunder Rosa def. Cassandra Golden by submission
  • A video package shows Matthew and Nicholas Jackson trying to give Sting his “exit interview,” after which we get a rundown of the full Revolution card
  • Christian Cage, Brian Cage, Roderick Strong and Killswitch def. Orange Cassidy, Hook, Daniel Garcia and Trent Beretta by pinfall when Killswitch pins Beretta; after the bell, the two teams continue to fight, and Matt Menard ends up getting chokeslammed onto a steel chair by Killswitch before the show simply fades out with fighting still very much going on

AEW Collision results 02/03/24: FTGar? FTR, Garcia outduel The Patriarchy

FTR and Daniel Garcia grabbed another big victory on AEW Collision.

The news in the pro wrestling business continues to flow at such a furious pace that sometimes it’s nice that we actually get to watch some wrestling for a couple of hours. That makes this episode of AEW Collision from Edinburg, Texas almost a form of escapism, as it looks to have a very nice card.

The main event is an interesting matchup pitting Christian Cage and his henchmen in The Patriarchy against FTR and Daniel Garcia, a combo we wouldn’t have thought of a few months ago that’s turned out to make so much sense. There’s also a very intriguing bout between Bryan Danielson and Hechicero as CMLL’s semi-invasion continues.

Let’s sit back and enjoy.

AEW Collision results from Edinburg, Texas:

  • Eddie Kingston def. Bryan Keith by pinfall in a Proving Ground match, meaning Keith would have earned a title shot had he won … but he did not, so there we go
  • Tony Schiavone heads to the ring to announce that Keith is now All Elite, and the Bounty Hunter gets some props from Kingston, who looks irritated when Bryan Danielson also joins them and raises Keith’s arm

  • Jon Moxley cuts a promo about the CMLL wrestlers showing up and thinking this would be “like that show on the other channel” and feature “easy, lazy American wrestlers,” concluding by warning that they better hope the BCC never shows up in their backyard

  • Bryan Danielson def. Hechicero by pinfall; Claudio Castagnoli arrives in time to prevent a post-match sour grapes beatdown from the loser
  • Lexy Nair asks Daniel Garcia and FTR if they’re going to remain a trio, and even though they admit they didn’t expect it, they’re OK with sticking together, and Dax Harwood points out they’re in the trios rankings now to boot
  • Hook def. The Outrunners by submission
  • Mark Briscoe joins Schiavone in the ring and is psyched to be in there with him as he remembers watching Tony call wrestling as a kid; he has some words for House of Black too, who appear on the video screen to threaten to eradicate him from pro wrestling history
  • A hype video is shown to promote Adam Copeland working his way back to a shot at Christian Cage; he’ll be on the show next week

  • Serena Deeb def. Queen Aminata by submission
  • Schiavone is joined by Swerve Strickland, who shouts out other wrestlers he admires during Black History Month, including Ron Simmons, Kofi Kingston(!) and Athena; Swerve thinks he might make his own Black history by defeating Hangman Page on Dynamite and going on to win the AEW World Championship, but he also tells Prince Nana no interference as he wants no excuses when he wins

  • Toni Storm is occupied with her disdain for Deonna Purrazzo, so much so that she can’t be bothered to watch Mariah May’s matches, and she asks Luther to book her a public workout
  • Red Velvet def. Vertvixen by pinfall in a very quick match
  • Daniel Garcia and FTR def. Christian Cage and The Patriarchy by pinfall

AEW Battle of the Belts 9 results: Sammy takes a huge fall, champs retain

See how the title matches went on AEW Battle of the Belts IX, as well as Sammy Guevara’s ridiculous dive.

When it comes to truth in advertising, few events can hang with an AEW Battle of the Belts show. These quarterly cards offer nothing but championship matches, though to be fair, usually not the top titles.

Be that as it may, we would never complain about an hour of bonus wrestling on free TV where there are real stakes for each bout. As well, some of the title bouts on previous editions of this show have seemed kind of random, but the only one on this one that fits that description is Orange Cassidy’s title defense, and that’s kind of his whole thing.

So yeah, championships on the line is something we dig. Will any of them change hands? Let’s find out.

AEW Battle of the Belts IX results from Norfolk:

  • The show begins with the first match already underway, as the tag team title street fight got rolling during the closing moment of Collision
  • Big Bill and Ricky Starks def. Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara vs. by pinfall in a Street Fight to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship; the match starts outside the arena, literally in the street, and ranges all over the backstage area to include a number of weapons, including a fire extinguisher, a copier and various food items, but the end comes after some well-timed interference by the Don Callis Family, including Powerhouse Hobbs pulling Starks away from a very high dive by Guevara that sends him through part of the stage

  • Another vignette shows Serena Deeb ready to return and seek her first AEW gold
  • Julia Hart def. Anna Jay by submission to retain the AEW TBS Championship
  • Sonjay Dutt and Karen Jarrett want Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett back on the same page, and Satnam Singh accidentally just kind of makes things worse
  • Orange Cassidy def. Preston Vance by pinfall to retain the AEW International Championship, with Roderick Strong and The Kingdom watching from the ramp
  • They don’t stay on the ramp, sliding in afterward and throwing Vance and Jose the Assistant out; the show ends with Strong telling Cassidy the clock is ticking

AEW Collision results 01/06/24: The House always wins, Sting does too

Sting said farewell to Charlotte and the House of Black got the last laugh on FTR on AEW Collision.

The sad thing about a legend saying goodbye over an extended period of time is that every time they compete, it’s the last time somewhere. That’s the glass half empty view. The glass half full version is that it allows fans in many different places to say goodbye when the show comes to them, which is the case for AEW Collision tonight in Charlotte.

It’s a city that has no lack of history with Sting, of course, but with Revolution and his retirement match coming up in just a few months, this will be the Icon’s last stop in the Queen City. He should get a heck of a reaction as a result, and it’s very cool that he’s in action alongside Darby Allin tonight.

There’s other fun stuff planned, including a title defense by Eddie Kingston and some words from Adam Copeland. Not a bad way to spend a snowy/rainy winter Saturday evening, so on to the action.

  • Ric Flair comes out ahead of this match, to the delight of the North Carolina crowd (and the dismay of many other, probably)

  • Eddie Kingston def. Trent Beretta by pinfall to retain the AEW Continental Crown Championship
  • Tony Schiavone asks Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale (and Boots) about Stokely Hathaway, but Willow quickly pivots to both of them getting off to a good start to 2024

  • Hook says it’s time to start looking for another championship, and he’s got his eyes on the biggest one of all: Samoa Joe, he’s coming for you

  • The Undisputed Kingdom (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett) def. Bryan Keith and Komander by pinfall in a Proving Ground match
  • Renee Paquette talks to Jay White and The Gunns, who quickly get a visit from The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass; Anthony Bowens plays mediator and suggests that big factions are the way to go, and Austin Gunn admits to Paquette that “it makes sense”

Before the world can end, there must be a Zero Hour.

Well, it’s true for the AEW Worlds End pay-per-view, at least. The inaugural event comes to us tonight from the venerable Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, set to send the year in AEW wrestling out with a bang.

The main card starts on PPV at 8 p.m. ET, but there’s wrestling to be had on the Zero Hour pre-show which begins at 6:30 p.m. More like a Zero Hour and a Half, if you will.

One title will be on the line when Hook defends his FTW Championship against the Blackpool Combat Club’s Wheeler Yuta. We’ll also see friends compete when Kris Statlander squares off with Willow Nightingale.

And in case your favorite AEW men’s wrestler isn’t on the Worlds End card, no worries: There’s a decent chance he’ll be in the Battle Royale on Zero Hour. The winner receives a TNT Championship shot somewhere down the road, so perhaps said winner will be a clue as to whether Christian Cage will retain that belt when he battles Adam Copeland on the PPV.

We have multiple team members in the building tonight and will be ready on the laptop as well, so let’s get into this pre-show.

Well this has been quite the week in AEW. A week unlike any other, one might even say. Happily, AEW Dynamite provided a nice reset of sorts, and since tonight’s AEW Rampage was filmed right after that, it should keep the good vibes going.

A high quality main event will certainly help with that, and this show has that covered in the form of a ROH World Championship Match with Claudio Castagnoli defending against Dax Harwood. There’s also a Grand Slam Tournament of Champions match in store, with young lions (not the NJPW kind, mind you) Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara doing battle.

Opening Bell: Lesnar gets Raw, Dynamite explodes into Fyter Fest

Welcome to the Opening Bell, where we round up what’s been announced for WWE (Raw and SmackDown) and AEW (Dynamite and Rampage) programming for the week we’ve just begun.

WWE Raw preview – Monday, July 11, AT&T Center, San Antonio

It’s almost certainly not like this at WWE HQ, but it occasionally feels like someone says, “oh crap, SummerSlam is coming up fast, we better start promoting the main event!” Roman Reigns did his part on SmackDown this past Friday, making a now somewhat rare appearance.

Brock Lesnar will return the favor tonight, as WWE is telling the world that the Beast Incarnate will be on this week’s show. We’re not exactly sure what he’s going to do, but the official Raw preview poses the question, “what will Lesnar have to say about squaring off with Reigns one last time?”

Someone may get an F-5. If my name rhymed with Saul Layman, I’d probably just stay in the back when Lesnar is out in the ring.

AEW Dynamite preview – Fyter Fest Week 1 – Wednesday, July 13, Enmarket Arena, Savannah, Georgia

Of the themed episodes of AEW television, Fyter Fest might be right near the top. Not because there’s a special gimmick match or anything like that, but simply because its name is partially a reference to and parody of an infamous event that may otherwise have faded from the memory of everyone except those unlucky enough to attend it.

In any case, Fyter Fest Week 1 will be coming in hot with a three-way tag team championship match featuring the Young Bucks defending against both Swerve in Our Glory and Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks. The big question here is whether the challenging teams will be able to focus on the gold since they have long-running beef with each other.

Here’s what else to expect on Wednesday night:

WWE SmackDown preview – Friday, July 15, Amway Center, Orlando

WWE has fairly often not provided any clue as to what to expect on SmackDown recently until it is close to the show (as in sometimes the same day), but has helpfully given Orlando-area fans two matches to look forward to come Friday night.

The first is one of the trends we dislike, a Championship Contender’s Match where you have to beat the champ to get a shot at the champ for their title. In this case, the champ in question is Liv Morgan, and the wrestler gunning for another chance to face her with higher stakes is Natalya. Considering Liv already has a formidable foe lined up for SummerSlam in Ronda Rousey, she’ll hope to get past Nattie as quickly as possible.

And after saying last week he’d like to see if it’s possible to stuff the entire Money in the Briefcase inside the big mouth of Theory, Madcap Moss will get the chance to do just that. Smart money says he fails, even though plenty of people would love to see him succeed.

AEW Rampage preview – Friday, July 15, Enmarket Arena, Savannah, Georgia (taped on July 13)

This really is a red letter week as even Rampage has a few matches that have been revealed ahead of time. With the next ROH event less than two weeks away, it’s only right that the company’s world champion, Jonathan Gresham, is in action against Lee Moriarity, particularly since Gresham sold out Moriarity mid-match last week and aligned himself with Tully Blanchard. As one does.

Plus the Lucha Bros. take on Private Party in a tag team match that should give AEW fans who have down since day one pleasant memories of 2019. We mean that in a good way, too.

AEW Rampage quick results: Kingston, Takeshita collide; Cassidy tackles Nese

Rochester, New York is the site for this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, which is headlined by a wrestling purist’s dream as Eddie Kingston faces Konosuke Takeshita. Seriously, if you don’t enjoy the work these two gentlemen do in and around a wrestling ring, I don’t think we can be friends.

Also on the slate for tonight, ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham will grace an AEW ring in tag team action, and Orange Cassidy will battle Tony Nese in a main event with the highest … stakes … ever: If Cassidy loses, he has to sign a petition.

But we kid Rampage because we love it. Assuming you haven’t read spoilers ahead of time, in which case thanks for dropping by even though you already know what’s happening, here’s what went down in Rochester.

AEW Rampage quick results: Last stop before Forbidden Door

Get quick AEW Rampage results for the June 24 episode from Milwaukee, the last stop before Forbidden Door.

Milwaukee isn’t quite Chicago, but it’s sort of close. That’s relevant because it’s gotten very close to Forbidden Door, set to blow into the Windy City this Sunday. Tonight’s episode of AEW Rampage, taped last Wednesday, should put the final finishing touches on the card, maybe even adding a few last matches.
