Auburn has reached out to No. 1 JUCO RB Waymond Jordan

Jordan rushed for 133 yards per game and 18 touchdowns for Hutchinson Community College this season.

Auburn football aims to enhance its offensive production next season by adding the nation’s top running back from the junior college level to its roster.

[autotag]Waymond Jordan Jr.[/autotag], a running back from Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kansas, tells On3’s Pete Nakos that several Power Four programs have contacted him, including Auburn. Jordan has heard from several Group of Five programs including Western Kentucky, Utah State, and North Texas. However, his recruitment has taken a turn as programs such as Auburn, Arizona State, UCF, and Duke have joined the mix.

The Pensacola, Florida native is gaining ground with major programs due to his season production at Hutchinson, a JUCO program known for developing its athletes to become key roster pieces at the next level. In 2024, Jordan rushed for 1,332 yards and 18 touchdowns while helping his squad earn a 9-1 record.

He elected to go the JUCO route out of high school after receiving little interest from Power programs during the 2022 recruiting cycle. According to 247Sports, Jordan earned offers from programs including UCF, USF, Jax State, and Missouri, but decided to refresh his recruitment by playing at the JUCO level for two seasons, a decision that has ultimately paid off.

This time, Jordan is the No. 21 overall JUCO recruit according to 247Sports and is considered the top running back from the class. He has scheduled official visits to UCF and USF and could add Auburn to his docket before he decides where the next step of his college journey will be.

Five-star DL Justus Terry set to take official visit to Auburn

Auburn will make one final push this weekend to land one of the nation’s top defensive linemen in the 2025 cycle.

Auburn football will host Texas A&M on Saturday for what will be a critical game for a postseason bid. It will also be a crucial weekend for recruiting as one of the nation’s top defensive linemen will be on campus to take his official visit.

[autotag]Justus Terry[/autotag], a five-star defensive lineman from Manchester, Georgia, will take his official visit to Auburn as the beginning of the early signing period inches closer.

Terry’s recruitment has been a whirlwind to this point. He committed to his home state program, Georgia, in January 2023 before backing off in favor of flipping to USC in March. However, his commitment to the Trojans lasted three months as he announced his de-commitment from Lincoln Riley’s program on June 19.

Since then, Terry has officially visited Texas and Alabama according to 247Sports, with Auburn next on his docket. Before de-committing from USC, Terry took official visits to Florida State and Georgia.

Auburn wants to add to its impressive defensive line haul for 2025. The Tigers have already landed the commitments of four-star linemen [autotag]Nathaniel Marshall[/autotag], [autotag]Malik Autry[/autotag], [autotag]Antonio Coleman[/autotag], and [autotag]Jourdin Crawford[/autotag], and landing Terry would be the icing on the cake.

However, Auburn coaches must put on a near-perfect performance to sway Terry to the Plains. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Georgia a 95.8% chance to win back Terry’s commitment, while five 247Sports writers have logged “crystal ball predictions” for Georgia to land Terry.

Terry is a 6-4 275-pound defensive lineman who has earned five-star status from every major recruiting outlet. He is the nation’s No. 2 defensive lineman and ranks as high as the No. 2 overall recruit from Georgia for the 2025 cycle according to Rivals and 247Sports.

The initial SEC Student-Athlete Availability Report for week 13’s action features several notable names from Auburn ahead of its game with No. 14 Texas A&M on Saturday night.

Auburn’s injury report includes four players who are nursing season-ending injuries: DBs [autotag]Tyler Scott[/autotag] and [autotag]Champ Anthony[/autotag], TE [autotag]Brandon Frazier[/autotag], and LB [autotag]Jamonta Waller[/autotag]. Three other players are included, two are ruled out while one is deemed “questionable.”

Alex McPherson injury update

McPherson has missed nearly every game this season due to complications from a gastrointestinal illness. He is listed as “out” again this week, which means that walk-on kicker Ian Vachon will remain the Tigers’ placekicker after connecting on 6-of-6 extra point attempts and going 2-for-2 on field goal opportunities.

Auburn Undercover reports that Burton was placed in concussion protocol earlier this month and has yet to return to the practice field. Burton has appeared in three games this season, recording two catches for 49 yards.

Auburn football drops in USA TODAY Sports re-rank following win over ULM

Auburn earned a key win last Saturday, but failed to gain ground in Paul Myerberg’s weekly rankings.

Auburn football may have won its fourth game last Saturday, but the triumph does not boost its stock in USA TODAY Sports’ weekly college football re-rank.

Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports released his weekly re-rank of all 134 FBS teams on Monday and has placed Auburn at No. 92, a one-spot decrease from last week’s rankings despite earning a 48-14 win over ULM. Last week, ULM held the No. 92 spot, trailing Auburn by one slot. The loss pushed the Warhawks down to No. 97.

Utah holds the crown for the biggest drop this week, falling 13 places to No. 61 following its blowout loss to Colorado last Saturday. The biggest riser is New Mexico, whose upset win over Washington State last Saturday pushed them up 16 spots to No. 93.

This week’s opponent, Texas A&M, rose one spot to No. 13 after blowing past New Mexico State last Saturday, 38-3. Auburn’s final two regular-season opponents, Texas A&M and Alabama, are ranked in the top 15 of Myerberg’s rankings, Texas A&M checks in at No. 13 while the Crimson Tide is No. 7.

‘South Carolina doesn’t help us get ready for Auburn,’ per Aggies football coach Mike Elko

“Showing them South Carolina doesn’t help us get ready for Auburn much, but this is a really talented rushing group,” Mike Elko said Monday.

The last time that the Texas A&M football team suited up in SEC competition, the Aggies suffered their first conference loss of the year, but that didn’t phase head coach Mike Elko.

Texas A&M was upset 44-20 at South Carolina on Nov. 2. Following their second bye and a 38-3 non-conference victory versus New Mexico State on Saturday night at Kyle Field, the No. 14 Aggies (8-2, 5-1 SEC) travel for the final time this campaign to face Auburn.

“Showing them South Carolina doesn’t help us get ready for Auburn much, but this is a really talented rushing group,” Elko said Monday. “How we control the line of scrimmage, set edges and keep the ball contained in the box is going to be really, really important for us and our success.”

Texas A&M plays the Tigers (4-6, 1-5) in its penultimate regular season contest at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup at Jordan-Hare Stadium will be broadcast on ESPN.

Two SEC football teams drop out of latest US LBM Coaches Poll

With just a few weeks remaining in the season, SEC football still has seven teams ranked in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

Last week, and in many of this season’s college football polls, the SEC had nine teams in the top 25. This week, after another wild set of games, they are down to seven ranked teams in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll.

The big game this weekend saw the Georgia Bulldogs beat the Tennessee Volunteers 31 – 17. South Carolina versus Missouri was also a matchup of two ranked teams, and the Gamecocks came out on top.

The Texas Longhorns still lead the way for the SEC. They are the only SEC team in the top five, coming in at number three. There’s a glut of two-loss teams now, and the Alabama Crimson Tide, Tennessee, Georgia, and Ole Miss all are ranked between seven and eleven.

Only a few weeks remain in the 2024 season, and the race to the college football playoffs is wide open for the SEC. Multiple teams still have a shot, and it will be an interesting final few games.

Cam Coleman made the most of his opportunities in win over ULM

Coleman set several personal records on Saturday, leading Auburn to a 48-14 win over ULM.

Freshman wide receiver [autotag]Cam Coleman[/autotag] signed with Auburn in hopes of becoming the top target for Tiger quarterbacks. However, he has been unable to produce top target-caliber numbers.

That changed Saturday in Auburn’s 48-14 win over ULM at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Coleman shattered his personal records in the game by hauling in eight catches for 100 yards and three scores. Before Saturday’s game, Coleman had not caught more than four passes for over 82 yards and had scored just twice.

After the game, Coleman told the media that he was thankful to be in position to make several plays in the win.

“It felt good because every opportunity I get, I’m going to make the best of it,” Coleman said postgame. “So, every opportunity that came my way, I was just making the best of it because there’s no telling when the ball is going to come back to you. You’ve got to make the best of every opportunity.”

Coleman’s production impressed several of his teammates as well, including quarterback [autotag]Payton Thorne[/autotag]. Three of Thorne’s five touchdown passes went to Coleman, which has built confidence between the two. Thorne complemented Coleman’s big day, and expects even greater feats from him in the future.

He did a really good job today. He only needed one hand (to score his final touchdown), so that was sweet,” Thorne said. “He is a great athlete, and it’s fun playing with him. These young guys have a long career ahead of them. I’m sure he will keep working. That is all he does, so more and more of those plays will show up for him.”

After the performance, Coleman has now reeled in 23 passes for 392 yards and five scores. He is third on the team in yards behind [autotag]KeAndre Lambert-Smith[/autotag] (761) and [autotag]Malcolm Simmons[/autotag] (412), and trails just Lambert-Smith (8) in touchdown receptions.

Updated SEC football standings after Week 12’s action

Here is how the SEC standings look after Week 12.

Yet another week of SEC football action has come and gone, and the conference’s championship game picture has become cloudier as a result of Saturday’s results.

Yes, after the Georgia Bulldogs upset the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday night in Athens, there are only two one-loss SEC teams remaining. However, how does that game and others from this past Saturday affect the SEC standings?

Let’s answer that question by taking a look at the updated SEC conference standings coming out of Week 12.

Updated SEC Football Standings after Week 12

T-1. Texas, Texas A&M (5-1)

3. Georgia (6-2)

4. Tennessee (5-2)

T-5. Alabama, Ole Miss (4-2)

7. South Carolina (5-3)

T-8. Missouri, LSU, Vanderbilt (3-3)

T-11. Arkansas, Florida (3-4)

T-13. Oklahoma, Auburn (1-5)

15. Kentucky (1-6)

16. Mississippi State (0-6)

As mentioned, there are only two SEC teams with one conference loss: Texas and Texas A&M. However, the Longhorns and Aggies play each other in two weeks.

Alabama is 4-2 ahead of its Week 13 trip to Oklahoma, and rival Auburn is lurking right after. The Crimson Tide, should they win both of those games, could make it to Atlanta for the SEC championship game.

Major changes atop the SEC standings after Week 12

There’s a new top team in the SEC standings after Georgia’s 31-17 win over Tennessee in Week 12

The Texas Longhorns are back on top of the SEC standings after Week 12. Texas won 20-10 in a closer than expected game at Arkansas. The Longhorns’ defensive front disrupted Arkansas’ offense and forced a key fumble.

In the SEC’s top game of Week 12, Georgia earned a massive 31-17 home win over the Tennessee Volunteers, who were previously atop the SEC standings. Georgia is done with SEC play and will have to wait and see if it makes the SEC championship game.

Georgia quarterback Carson Beck looked like a first-round NFL draft pick again as Georgia played its first home game in a month. The Bulldogs are almost College Football Playoff locks.

Florida upset No. 22 LSU at home to keep its bowl hopes alive. Quarterback DJ Lagway returned for Florida, which crushed LSU’s remaining SEC championship and playoff hopes.

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers threw for 353 yards, five touchdowns and one interception as the No. 21 Gamecocks scored late to beat No. 23 Missouri.

Auburn beat Louisiana-Monroe, 48-14. Kentucky beat Murray State, 48-6. Alabama beat Mercer, 52-7, and Texas A&M beat New Mexico State, 38-3. A whopping five SEC teams played non-Power Four opponents in Week 12.

Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma and Mississippi State had bye weeks in Week 12.
