Patriots at Seahawks game notes
- The new-look Patriots eased past the visiting Miami Dolphins by a 21-11 score, as QB Cam Newton kicked off the post-Tom Brady era with 15-of-19 passing for 155 yards and he also rushed for a game-high 75 yards and two touchdowns on 15 attempts.
- The Seahawks did the difficult Week 1 trip from Pacific to Eastern Time Zone for a 1 pm kick, but they rolled up a 38-25 win despite the fact they were actually outgained 506 to 383 yards of total offense.
- Seahawks QB Russell Wilson was nearly perfect, completing 31 of 35 passes for 322 yards and four touchdowns, and he also ran for a team-high 29 yards.
- Perhaps the only thing Seattle didn’t do well in Week 1 was their third-down efficiency, as they were just 3-of-9 (.333) in that department.
- Seattle was a plus-2 in the turnover department in Week 1, and New England was also plus-2.

Patriots at Seahawks: Odds, betting lines, picks and prediction
Prediction
Seahawks 27, Patriots 20
Money line (?)
The Seahawks (-205) are a little too rich for my blood, as I would never risk more than two times my potential return, especially against a well-coached team like the Patriots (+170). That’s just not good gambling over the long term. If anything, the Pats are a strong value as moderate ‘dogs. AVOID.
Against the spread (?)
The SEAHAWKS (-4, -110) looked like one of the best teams in the NFC, but it would be nice to see them establish the run a little bit. Wilson cannot do it all himself. Still, even if they are a bit one dimensional in this game, they should be all right. Jamal Adams is going to make life tough for Cam Newton, and he won’t have nearly the same kind of success running the ball like he did in his team debut against Miami.
Over/Under (?)
OVER 44.5 (-110) is a “lean” in the SNF game, although last season we saw the Under go 1-7 in the first eight Sunday nighters, and the Under hit last weekend in the game between the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Rams. Still, this is a rather low number for two explosive playmaking quarterbacks.
