2021-22 Stanley Cup odds open with Seattle Kraken as mid-tier contenders

Analyzing the 2021-22 Stanley Cup odds for the Seattle Kraken heading into their inaugural NHL season.

The NHL expands to 32 teams for the 2021-22 season with the Seattle Kraken playing their inaugural campaign. The oddsmakers at BetMGM Sportsbook are looking at them rather favorably, even ahead of their expansion draft. Below, we analyze the opening Stanley Cup odds for the Seattle Kraken’s first season.

The Kraken don’t have a roster or a start date for their debut NHL season but expectations are high as they opened among the mid-tier contenders to win the 2021-22 Stanley Cup. Those expectations are raised in large part by the immediate success of the NHL’s latest expansion team, the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Golden Knights went 51-24-7 in their debut season. They won the Western Conference and lost in five games to the Washington Capitals in the Stanley Cup Final. They made the playoffs each of the last three seasons as well and went to the Stanley Cup Semifinal each of the last two campaigns.
