Jason Terry: For me, coaching was in me early. And then as I got later in my career, I served as the veteran in the locker room. Kevin McHale and J.B. Bickerstaff in Houston [Rockets] allowed me to be a part of the coaches’ meetings. And a year and two years later, Jason Kidd was my coach in Milwaukee [Bucks], he allowed me to start doing some scouting. He allowed me to do player development and allowed me to be a part of the coaches’ meetings as well. The fire was lit. My first year out I was the assistant GM with the [G League’s] Texas Legends, evaluating talent, trying to put a team together and learning the business of basketball. Then when I became an assistant at [University of] Arizona, I worked under Sean Miller, and I learned about recruiting, compliance, some strategy type things. But a lot of that was already in me because I was student of the game.

Xavier bringing back Sean Miller as the school’s head coach after 13 eventful years away

Sean Miller is reportedly heading back to Xavier as the men’s head basketball coach.

Xavier is hiring Sean Miller as its next head coach.

Of course, Miller and the Musketeers go way back. WAY BACK.

Miller served as the school’s basketball head coach during perhaps its most successful era. He led Xavier to three straight A10 first-place finishes and four NCAA Tournament appearances, resulting in an Elite Eight and Sweet Sixteen appearance.

But you probably better know Sean Miller for his time at the University of Arizona where he had similar success with the Wildcats over the course of 12 years.

Things eventually went south under in Miller’s time out West. Both he and his assistants were responsible for many NCAA infractions that included bribery and paying for false academic transcripts, among other violations. One assistant even served jail time as Miller held onto his job before being fired from the program following the 2020-21 season.

But it appears that Miller is getting thrown a life vest after just one season away from basketball. He’ll fill the void left by Travis Steele, and formerly Chris Mack, on the Musketeer sideline as the team—and Miller’s reputation—attempt a return to glory.

On Thursday, Arizona made the hiring of Jason Terry official. Sean Miller sat down with Brian Jeffries for a quick interview and started by describing what makes Terry so qualified to be a coach. “Jason Terry is somebody that I have gotten to know, like a lot of people here at the U of A, during my 11 years,” Miller said. “At first, I was just a huge fan of his. Anybody that is 6-foot-2, 180 pounds that can play in the NBA for 18 seasons. Right now he is seventh all time in the NBA in three-pointers made, he is a NBA world champion, a NBA Sixth Man of the Year.”

For Miller, the most impressive aspect of Terry may be just how passionate he is about the game of basketball. “I love his passion for the game,” Miller said. “When you think of Jason Terry, don’t you think of someone that loves the game of basketball? When you combine everything I have talked about, he has been there and done it 1,000 times over. Yet I know he would love to be in the gym with our players. Imagine him working out with our guards,”

Now Dawkins, who has started a new career representing artists in the music industry, is willing to say a few things. The film is told through his viewpoint — from his upbringing as the son of a high school coach in Saginaw, Michigan, to becoming in his early 20s a confidant and dealmaker between star players, shoe companies, college programs and agents. It also contains a number of never-before-heard audio recordings of FBI-intercepted phone calls between Dawkins and LSU coach Will Wade and Arizona’s Miller.

At the time, Dawkins says he was just …

At the time, Dawkins says he was just trying to help Miller figure out how to win the recruiting battle. “Sean wanted Nassir really badly,” Dawkins said in the film. “He knew I had a relationship with the grassroots coaches who at that time I think we were all under the impression had the juice with the situation. I basically told him that it basically was going to come down to Miami and Arizona. And what I think needed to happen for the kid to come out to Arizona.”

Sean Miller is still sweating completely through his shirts

How does a person sweat this much?

Sweating is a normal thing to do — especially in situations where you get nervous or stressed. It’s a reflex all humans have and a perfectly fine thing to do. That’s why we have deodorant. It helps.

But there is no antiperspirant in the world, apparently, that can help Arizona Wildcats head coach Sean Miller. He sweats through shirt after shirt after shirt like it’s nothing. It’s honestly incredible to see.

On Saturday, while coaching the Wildcats through a game at Baylor, he sweat all the way through a pretty nice looking lavender shirt. He’s literally just drenched in sweat. It’s wild.

We should probably give Miller a bit of credit. At least it’s not as bad as that one time he sweat through an entire shirt after just 10 minutes. Still pretty bad, though.

No clue how Miller is going to solve this problem, but it’s 2019. There has got to be some sort of super sweat wicking shirt he could wear or some sort of absorption undergarment that can help. This is a lot.

Even aside from it being a bit embarrassing to sweat out a shirt on national television, it has to get pretty expensive buying shirts after sweating them completely out.

What a shame. Hopefully for his own sake, he takes care of this problem soon.
