Seahawks have one of NFL’s worst rest day disadvantages in 2024

The good news is that the 49ers have it even worse.

Just because all 32 NFL teams play the same amount of games and get one week off at some point doesn’t mean that the schedule is far. In fact, according to this chart from Sharp Football Analysis, the schedule is actually getting more and more inequitable each year. As the NFL emphasizes big market teams and ratings draws like the Chiefs, the schedule gets more skewed and some teams suffer from an unnatural lack of rest compared to their opponents.

The Seahawks are one of the teams who have the most cause to complain. Seattle has a net disadvantage of -13 fewer days of rest compared to the teams they will be playing in 2024.

The good news is that the 49ers have it even worse. Their -21 day difference is the worst in the league this year by far. In between there are the Broncos and Colts, who both have 17 fewer days of rest.

At the other end of the list the team that’s benefitted the most is Baltimore, who are getting an incredible +16 more days of rest than their opponents. The Patriots, Vikings and Eagles are tied for second at +12.

The Chiefs (+5) are still the smart favorite to win the Super Bowl every year, but at some point we expect Lamar Jackson and the Ravens to steal a ring. This will help their chances.

Here’s how we rank all 17 games, beginning with the easiest and working our way down to the most difficult matchup.

The Seattle Seahawks released their schedule for the 2024 season last week and we’re breaking it down from every angle. Today we’ll be ranking every game on the schedule by difficulty. At the top, there are relatively easy contests early in the season, including home games against the lowly Broncos and Giants and a road trip against the Patriots.

At the bottom, the two matchups with the 49ers are naturally the hardest. However, there’s a big difference between those two matchups as far as rest time for Seattle goes. In the Week 6 Seattle game they will only be coming off a three-day rest after hosting the Giants, whereas in Week 11 in Santa Clara they will be fresh off their bye week. Let’s get to the list.

Let’s see if we can predict how the rest of the regular season will play out.

The Seattle Seahawks are now past the halfway point on their 2023 schedule. While there have been some bumps along the way, Seattle is roughly where we expected them to be at this point in the season. At 6-3 they are a tough but flawed team, on the bubble of true Super Bowl contenders but not quite there just yet.

Things are about to get a whole lot harder, though. After this week’s rematch on the road with the Los Angeles Ram the Seahawks will embark on the most-brutal part of their schedule – arguably the roughest four-game run any team in the NFL will face this year.

Let’s see if we can predict how the rest of the regular season will play out. Here’s how we rank the eight games remaining on the Seahawks’ schedule and our predictions for each of them.

Some analysts even think that this franchise is in for a sub-.500 season in 2023.

The Seahawks are one of the teams on the rise in the NFC. After putting together two strong draft classes and finding a surprise top-10 QB they had hiding in their pocket, this group should be on the cusp of contending with the other heavyweights within the conference. However, not everyone thinks they’re ready to make that leap just yet. Some analysts even think that this franchise is in for a sub-.500 season in 2023.

Adam Rank at NFL Network recently went through his predictions for every team in the 2023 season. Here’s what he thinks will happen each week for Seattle.

The Seattle Seahawks 2023 schedule was released last week.

The Seattle Seahawks 2023 schedule was released last week. This year’s slate includes four early kickoffs and absolutely brutal four-game stretch from November into December that may determine just how far this team goes.

Despite clearly being a team on the rise, Seattle will only be featured in three prime-time games this year. In Week 4, they will visit the Giants for a Monday Night Football matchup. On Thanksgiving, they host the 49ers and one week later they’ll visit the Cowboys for a regular TNF game.
