Pete Carroll tests positive for COVID-19, working from home

Today, the team announced that head coach Pete Carroll has tested positive and is currently working from home.

Much as we all might like to pretend that the pandemic is over, the numbers say otherwise. While the Seattle Seahawks have been diligent and relatively fortunate in this department, no NFL team has escaped being affected by COVID-19 over the last couple of years.

Today, the team announced that head coach Pete Carroll has tested positive and is currently working from home. He will remain in contact with assistant coaches and participate virtually in team meetings. The team’s statement says that Carroll is fully vaccinated and experiencing mild symptoms.

It will be interesting to see who takes the lead at practice in Carroll’s absense. Associate head coach Sean Desai and defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt are next up in the line of succession, so to speak. The team is set to begin its fourth training camp practice of 2022 in a little over half an hour. We should learn more afterwards.

Seahawks activate one player from COVID-19 list, place another one on

One step forward, one step back seems to be about the best Seahawks fans can hope for in 2021.

One step forward, one step back seems to be about the best Seahawks fans can hope for in 2021. The team came into this week with 10 players on its reserve/COVID-19 list, seven on the active roster and three more on the practice squad.

Seattle just announced that running back Alex Collins has been activated from the list. However, tight end Will Dissly has been placed on it.

Collins leads the team with 411 rushing yards this season – he was thrust into a more prominent role thanks to injuries for Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny. He has been playing hurt ever since the Week 6 loss to the Steelers.

As for Dissly, it’s been a relatively quiet year as he’s been supplanted on the depth chart by Gerald Everett. In 11 games he’s been targeted 25 times. Dissly has caught 20 of them, totaling 233 yards and one touchdown. He’s earned an average 62.6 grade from Pro Football Focus.

Seahawks add another defender to their reserve/COVID-19 list

While the Rams’ COVID-19 situation is steadily getting better, the Seahawks’ is getting worse.

While the Rams’ COVID-19 situation is steadily getting better, the Seahawks’ is getting worse. The team just announced that defensive tackle Bryan Mone has been added to their reserve/COVID-19 list. That brings their total to nine players.

Mone has played 12 games this season, totaling 1.5 sacks, three quarterback hits and a career-high 31 tackles. He’s been on the field for 342 (38%) of the team’s defensive snaps this year.

He joins wide receiver Tyler Lockett, running back Alex Collins, cornerback D.J. Reed, right tackle Brandon Shell, running back Travis Homer, defensive end Kerry Hyder Jr. and practice squad players Pier-Olivier Lestage and Mike Jackson.

Seahawks CB D.J. Reed shares reaction to getting placed on COVID-19 list

If Reed can’t go against the Rams, it will be a massive blow for Seattle’s defense.

The Seahawks are getting the shaft. The COVID-19 outbreaks on the Rams, Browns and Washington put the NFL in a difficult position this week, but there’s no question that Seattle, Las Vegas and Philadelphia are suffering through no fault of their own.

Not only will the NFL not push back the Seahawks’ Week 16 game against the Bears. Now, Seattle is going through a COVID-19 outbreak of its own. Today, six players were placed on the reserve list, bringing the team’s total to eight. The most notable of the names was cornerback D.J. Reed, who shared this reaction to the news on Twitter.

The Seahawks secondary has done an excellent job so far of competing despite season-ending injuries to Tre Brown and Jamal Adams. Very few teams are four-deep at cornerback, though and Reed’s play on the right side has been outstanding since Week 5.

If Reed can’t go against the Rams, it will be a massive blow for Seattle’s defense. Heading into Week 15, Reed has allowed just an 83.8 passer rating in coverage. He also has the highest PFF run defense grade on the team.
