The Seahawks have reached the most-difficult portion of their 2022 schedule. After getting crushed by the top defense in the league last Thursday night, this week they’ll prepare to face the NFL’s No. 1 ranked offense.
On Saturday they visit the 11-3 Chiefs in Kansas City, where they will be heavy underdogs. According to USA TODAY Sports Data, the Chiefs are favored by 10 points.
It’s a fair line, as KC is once again a Super Bowl contender for the fifth straight season. They have won seven of their last eight games, beginning with a very-convincing win over the 49ers, who they managed to drop 44 points on. Their only loss in that stretch has been to Joe Burrow’s 10-4 Bengals by a field goal.
Meanwhile, the 7-7 Seahawks are going in the opposite direction. A four-game win streak in the middle of the season inspired hope, but they’ve since gone to pieces, losing four of their last five. Major factors include a reckless string of play by quarterback Geno Smith and the defense regressing back to being the worst run-stopping unit in the NFL.
These teams have only met once in the Patrick Mahomes era. The Seahawks won that game 38-31, but it was four years ago. Kansas City leads the all-times series 33-19.
