The Iowa Hawkeyes‘ 2025 recruiting class shrunk by one just a week before the early signing period opens up.
Five-star specialist Scott Starzyk announced his decommitment from the Hawkeyes on Monday night.
“I want to thank the University of Iowa and especially Coach (LeVar) Woods and Coach (Kirk) Ferentz for the opportunity to play football for the Hawkeyes. However, I’m officially decommitting from the University of Iowa,” Starzyk said in his social media post.
Starzyk is the No. 1 ranked kicker and No. 6 ranked punter in the class, according to Kohl’s Kicking. He is regarded as a five-star in both categories by Kohl’s Kicking.

On Tuesday afternoon, Starzyk announced his commitment to the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Starzyk visited Iowa in June and committed to the Hawkeyes a month later. Initially, Starzyk chose the Hawkeyes over notable offers from Mississippi State, Syracuse, Texas A&M and Oklahoma.
Starzyk’s decommitment leaves Iowa looking for the replacement to standout junior kicker Drew Stevens. Stevens was just named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week after booting through a single-game record-tying five field goals in the Hawkeyes’ 29-13 win at Maryland.
Iowa’s 2025 class currently features 14 commits and is ranked 44th nationally according to 247Sports.
The early signing period begins on Wednesday, Dec. 4. and closes on Friday, Dec. 6.
