San Francisco at Gonzaga: Three things to know

  1. Gonzaga is coming off a 112-67 blasting of Dixie State last time out, a final tune-up before concentrating mostly upon West Coast Conference (WCC) play the rest of the way. The Bulldogs are 5-4 ATS so far, but haven’t covered in consecutive games since their first two outings Nov. 26 and 27.
  2. For the Bulldogs, freshman sensation G Jalen Suggs (leg) is listed as questionable. Whether he plays or not shouldn’t have much of an affect on the straight up result, but those looking at the ATS play will want to be very mindful of his status. Either way, fellow Wooden Award candidate F Corey Kispert is healthy, and that makes the Zags dangerous any day of the week.
  3. The Over is 5-1 in the past six road games for San Francisco and 6-1 in its past seven against teams with a winning overall mark. Gonzaga has hit the Over at a 75% clip across its past 52 games (39-13), and the Zags are 22-6 in their past 28 at McCarthey.

San Francisco at Gonzaga: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Gonzaga 96, San Francisco 74

Money line (ML)

There was no money line at the time of publishing due to the large spread. It wouldn’t be worth pursuing since Gonzaga is such a heavy favorite.

PASS.

Against the spread (ATS)

GONZAGA -19.5 (-105) is the play, whether Suggs is able to play or not. Generally, San Francisco has been a thorn in the side of the Zags over the years. Gonzaga had a pair of 4-point wins over USF last season, but it belted the Dons at McCarthey for a home cover. The Bulldogs will do it again, as this Zags team leads the nation in scoring offense with 96.2 points per game. The Dons are averaging a mere 75.5 PPG, and won’t be able to keep up.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 161.5 (-110) is the play in this conference battle, even though the Dons have struggled to put points on the board. The Bulldogs have routinely flirted with the century mark, and they’ll be able to solve a San Francisco defense which has been fairly effective in the early going.

USF yields just 67.5 PPG, but it hasn’t played an up-tempo offense anywhere near the caliber of the top-ranked Zags.
