WCC Tournament: San Francisco vs. Gonzaga odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s San Francisco vs. Gonzaga odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The San Francisco Dons (23-9) and the No. 18 Gonzaga Bulldogs (24-6) clash in a West Coast Conference semifinal Monday. Tip from Orleans Arena in Las Vegas is set for 11:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2/ESPN+). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the San Francisco vs. Gonzaga odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The Dons took care of Portland 72-51 in the opening round for the chance to face Gonzaga. They covered as 16-point favorites as F Marcus Williams went 4-for-6 from 3-point range to lead the squad with 16 points. Gonzaga beat the Dons in their own building, 86-68, Feb. 29.

Gonzaga, No. 18 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll (a new poll will be released Monday afternoon), has beaten San Francisco in each of the last 10 meetings, including both matchups this season. F Graham Ike had 26 points in the last one, and he has gone for 20+ in 7 straight games. He’s a big reason that the Zags have won 8 straight.

San Francisco vs. Gonzaga picks and predictions

Prediction

Gonzaga 81, San Francisco 69

Moneyline

The Zags are big-time favorites, and there’s no reason to expect a Cadbury egg to be laid here. That said, there is no play on the ML here. Instead, let’s go with RYAN NEMBHARD OVER 13.5 POINTS (-104).

He has 14+ in 5 of 6 games and had 15 against the Dons in the last meeting.

Against the spread

The Zags have covered this spread in 3 of the last 4 meetings and 9 of 10. The neutral site could create an imbalance, but this is right at my limit for a spread. If it swells to 9.5, I’d avoid it altogether.

Take GONZAGA -8.5 (-118).

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

The Zags score in bunches, ranking 6th in the country with 85.6 PPG. The Dons are no slouch, though tied for 70th with 77.9 PPG. The Over is just 4-6 in the last 10 meetings, but this number has cashed in the last 7.

Go easy here, because we’re projecting the Over to narrowly cash. But if you want action on the total, take the OVER 148.5 (-115).

WCC Tournament: San Francisco vs. Gonzaga odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s San Francisco vs. Gonzaga odds and lines, with expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The San Francisco Dons (20-13, 7-9 WCC) look to topple the No. 8 Gonzaga Bulldogs (26-5, 14-2) Monday in a WCC semifinal matchup. Tip from Orleans Arena in Las Vegas is at 11:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the San Francisco vs. Gonzaga odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Gonzaga boasts the nation’s top offense with 88.0 points per game and seeks its 3rd victory over San Francisco this season. The Bulldogs recorded a 77-75 victory as a 9.5-point road favorite on Jan. 5 and a 99-81 victory as a 15-point home favorite on Feb. 9.

A strong showing in the WCC Tournament could propel Gonzaga to a 2 seed in March and help them gain confidence behind star F Drew Timme as it hopes to finally win a National Championship.

San Francisco may need to win the WCC Tournament to have a shot at a postseason berth. However, that will be difficult to achieve with a defense that ranks 265th with 73.1 points allowed per game and an offense that pours in 76.3 points per game (71st).

Expect this to be a high-scoring affair for the right to play the winner of the BYU vs. St. Mary’s game.

San Francisco vs. Gonzaga picks and predictions

Prediction

Gonzaga 90, San Francisco 81

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no question that the Bulldogs’ offense is elite and it is very unlikely that the Dons (+675) will be able to hold them down and pull off a victory here — even with that pricetag. However, despite that Gonzaga (-1100) should win you should never wager 11 times your potential return.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

BET SAN FRANCISCO +14.5 (-115), although this could get squirrely coming toward the end.

Gonzaga put up 99 points against San Francisco in the last meeting, but that game was at home. This game is on a neutral court and could be much closer than the 18-point margin seen in that showdown.

San Francisco should be able to score enough against a Gonzaga defense that ranks 276th with 73.6 points allowed per game to keep within 14 points, although this should be a comfortable Gonzaga victory from start to finish. A winning margin of 9 or 10 points is more likely for the Bulldogs.

Over/Under

OVER 160.5 (-115)

The Under is usually the play when the number is this high, but points should be plentiful Monday with 2 offenses ranked in the top 80 going against 2 defenses ranked outside the top 250.

The first meeting between the teams finished at 152 points and the last meeting finished at 180 points, so 160.5 then seems like a respectable number.

With Gonzaga coming off 104 points against Chicago State Wednesday, 90 will not be hard to hit. San Francisco is coming off a 93-87 double overtime win against the higher-seeded Santa Clara Sunday. While it might start slow for the Dons, they will pick up the pace and get this game Over the total by the end.

San Francisco at Gonzaga odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s San Francisco at Gonzaga odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The San Francisco Dons (15-11, 4-7 WCC) battle the No. 16 Gonzaga Bulldogs (19-5, 8-2) Thursday. Tip from the McCarthey Athletic Center is set for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the San Francisco vs. Gonzaga odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

The Dons and Bulldogs have battled once already this season, a 77-75 Gonzaga win in San Francisco. The Bulldogs failed to cover as a 9.5-point favorite while the Under 157.5 hit.

Gonzaga is coming off a 78-70 road loss to Saint Mary’s, failing to cover as a 3-point underdog in overtime. The Bulldogs are 3-3 against the spread (ATS) in their last 6 games and 7-15-1 ATS on the season.

San Francisco lost to Santa Clara 83-70 at home Saturday, failing to cover as a 3-point favorite. The Dons are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games and 13-12 ATS on the season.

Against the spread

BET SAN FRANCISCO +13.5 (-105).

San Francisco has played well against top competition this season, having a 2-0 ATS record against ranked opponents. The Dons are also 5-3 ATS as the road team. San Fran is 6-5 ATS against WCC opponents while Gonzaga is just 4-6 ATS against conference foes.

The Dons hold opponents to just 43% shooting as well which is where Gonzaga is the best in the nation, shooting 52% from the field. The Dons should be able to limit the Bulldogs’ efficient offense and have proven to thrive in conference play.

Back SAN FRANCISCO +13.5 (-105).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 155.5 (-115).

Gonzaga’s electric offense has topped 80 in 3 of its last 5 games, but it has still gone Under the projected total in 6 of its last 9.

The Bulldogs are 4-6 O/U in conference games while San Fran is 5-6 O/U in conference games. San Fran is 10-15 O/U this season, so it has consistently rewarded Under bettors.

Considering the trends, back the UNDER 155.5 (-115).

San Francisco at Saint Mary’s odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s San Francisco at Saint Mary’s odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The San Francisco Dons (15-9, 4-5 WCC) visit the No. 18 Saint Mary’s Gaels (19-4, 8-0) for a West Coast Conference battle Thursday night. Tip-off  at University Credit Union Pavilion in Moraga is at 11 p.m. ET (ESPNU). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the San Francisco vs. Saint Mary’s odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

San Francisco is on a 3-game win streak straight up and against the spread (ATS). Its last loss was to these Gaels in a Jan. 14 home game, 78-61 as 7.5-point underdogs. The Dons are 0-7 ATS vs. Saint Mary’s in the last 7  meetings.

The Gaels play at a plodding pace and sport 1 of the most efficient defenses in the nation. The dual effect has Saint Mary’s yielding just 57.1 points per game, which ranks 4th in NCAA-I. Since Dec. 21, SMC is 10-0 SU and 6-2-1 ATS.

Saint Mary’s will win but it unplayable at -850.

Against the spread

The Dons are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games against teams playing .600 basketball.

A good shooting team like USF can give the Gaels problems. The Dons have shot 47.9% from distance over their last 3 games and launch triples at a top-5 rate nationally. In recent conference games against frequent 3-bombers Loyola-Marymount and BYU, the Gaels logged an ATS push and ATS loss, respectively. SMC also registered earlier ATS losses against Colorado State, Oral Roberts, and Southern. They are all similar in where their points are generated.

March Madness: San Francisco vs. Murray State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s San Francisco vs. Murray State odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 7 Murray State Racers (30-2) meet the No. 10 San Francisco Dons (24-9) Thursday in the first round of the East Region. Tip from Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis is scheduled for 9:40 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the San Francisco vs. Murray State odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Murray State solidifed its tournament credentials with a 71-67 win in the Ohio Valley Conference championship over Morehead State. The Racers have just 2 losses on the season, one to Auburn and the other to ETSU.

They haven’t lost since Dec. 22 (71-58 to Auburn). Murray State ranks 23rd in points per game (79.3) and allows the 21st-fewest per game (61.7). It’s led by F K.J. Williams and G Tevin Brown who average 18.2 and 16.4 points per game respectively.

The Dons enter thegame after losing 81-71 to No. 1 seed Gonzaga in the West Coast Tournament semifinal. San Francisco did cover as 14.5-point favorites, but are just 13-18-1 against the spread (ATS).

The Dons rank 39th in points per game (77.3) and rank top 45 in both offensive and defensive efficiency. Six-foot-2 G Jamaree Bouyea leads the team in scoring at 16.7 points per game.

San Francisco vs. Murray State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

San Francisco 72, Murray State 70

Money line

LEAN to SAN FRANCISCO +115.

With money coming on Murray State, this line has moved from its original open at -1 San Francisco which is allowing for some great value on the money line.

San Fran is also an experienced group with its top scorers being upperclassmen. Its top 3 scorers are seniors.

Murray State’s leading scorer stands 6-foot-10, but aside from him, it doesn’t have a top-four scoring option that stands over 6-foot-5.

San Francisco starts 6-foot-10 F Yauhen Massalski, who will be able to counter that size, and have 3 players over 6-foot-7 who get consistent minutes off the bench.

The size advantage and experience advantage will both be in favor of San Francisco.

Against the spread

PASS.

This should be a hard-fought battle, and I would prefer the plus-money money line odds.

Over/Under

BET on the OVER 137.5 (-110).

While I like the money line value on San Francisco, betting the Over here is my favorite play.

Murray State isn’t as experienced, but it is far from inexperienced and is led in scoring by 2 juniors. Having experience should help both teams stick to their style of play.

Both teams rank in Kenpom’s top 45 in adjusted offensive efficiency. Both teams have topped 70 points in 4 straight games. It seems likely this battle should be played in that range.

West Coast Conference Tournament: San Francisco vs. Gonzaga odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s San Francisco vs. Gonzaga odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The fourth-seeded San Francisco Dons (24-8) and top-seed Gonzaga Bulldogs (24-3) meet Monday for a West Coast Conference Tournament semifinal in Las Vegas. Tip-off at Orleans Arena is slated  for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the San Francisco vs. Gonzaga odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

San Francisco went 10-6 in WCC play and finished fourth in the 10-team circuit. The Dons opened tournament play with a 75-63 win over BYU Saturday. In a league that plays up-tempo high-scoring basketball, USF ranks third in scoring at 77.3 points per game.

Gonzaga won the WCC regular-season title — and a bye into this semifinal slot — by going 13-1 in league play this winter. The Bulldogs’ lone loss came 67-57 versus St. Mary’s Feb. 26 in its regular-season finale. The 57 points marked a season season-low for Gonzaga.

The loss snapped a 17-game win streak that saw the fast-paced Bulldogs average 88.3 PPG. Gonzaga heads into Monday’s game ranked No. 1 in the nation.

San Francisco vs. Gonzaga odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Gonzaga 84, San Francisco 72

Money line

Respected analytic sites peg San Francisco — a team that played within two scores of Gonzaga for 25 minutes in their Jan. 20 meeting — as a top-25 unit. When the Dons can take create some turnovers and limit 3s, they can play with the big boys.

However, for San Francisco, the biggest of its big boys is a question mark. Six -foot-10 F Yauhen Massalski has a knee injury and is listed as questionable for Monday’s game. This veteran USF squad can be a near-1-in-5 upset possibility if Massalski plays. Especially with Gonzaga not having played since Feb. 26.

So, there’s a caveat, but SAN FRANCISCO (+750) is worth a look.

Against the spread

Above noted, Gonzaga -14.5 is still a fair price. Imagine a world where this game is played five times: the Bulldogs win twice by 15 and twice by 13. And USF wins once.

PASS.

Over/Under

The Over is 4-1 in San Francisco’s last five games and 7-3 across the last 10 games of this series.

With a healthy bit of 3-point accuracy on one side (GU) and 3-point frequency on the other (USF), look for this total to be 3-balled into the high 150s.

BACK THE OVER 153.5 (-107).

Gonzaga at San Francisco odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Gonzaga at San Francisco odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The top-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs (23-2, 12-0 WCC) visit the San Francisco Dons (22-7, 9-5) Thursday at the War Memorial at the Sobrato Center in San Francisco. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we look at the Gonzaga vs. San Francisco odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Bulldogs are in the midst of a 16-game win streak dating back to Dec. 4, a loss in Seattle against Alabama. Gonzaga won 81-69 against Santa Clara on Saturday, its narrowest margin of victory during the 16-game run.

The Dons are seeking revenge after losing in Spokane by a 78-62 count, Jan. 20, pushing against a 16-point number as the Under connected. The Under has hit in five straight for San Francisco, too.

Gonzaga at San Francisco odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Gonzaga 84, San Francisco 70

Money line

Gonzaga (-540) will cost you nearly five-and-a-half times your potential return, and that’s way too risky, even for the top-ranked team. Betting like that long term will mean you get bit and bit hard at some point.

PASS.

Against the spread

Take GONZAGA -9.5 (-115) laying the points as the Zags have won by 12 or more points in each of the 16 games during its win streak so far. Santa Clara put up a good fight last time out against Gonzaga, but you can expect that to serve as a wake-up call. The Bulldogs knocked off the Dons by 16 points in the first meeting, and you can expect this to be a double-digit win as well.

Over/Under

The UNDER 156.5 (-110) is worth a look, but play it lightly. We’ll see plenty of offense, especially from the Bulldogs.

The Under has cashed in five straight games overall for Gonzaga, while going 5-0 in the past five as a favorite for the Bulldogs. The Over cashed in eight of the past 11 at home for the Dons, but the Under hit in the first meeting. We won’t see a low-scoring game, but we shouldn’t see a track meet, either.

Gonzaga at San Francisco: Three things to know

  1. Gonzaga knocked off San Francisco 85-62 as a 19-point home favorite in early January. The Bulldogs led 47-37 at the half and held the Dons to 25% shooting in the second half. Senior F Corey Kispert led the Zags with 26 points on 9-for-11 shooting.
  2. Gonzaga last played Monday, leading wire-to-wire in an 82-71 victory at BYU. Freshman G Jalen Suggs scored a game-high 24 points as the Zag pushed on the spread as 11-point favorites. Gonzaga was to visit Santa Clara, Calif., Thursday, but the game was postponed due to COVID-19 issues within the Broncos program. Kispert and sophomore F Drew Timme lead the Bulldogs in scoring at 19.5 and 18.9 points per game.
  3. San Francisco enters on a 2-game skid and has lost four of its last six. The most recent setback was a 76-68 to Pepperdine as a 4-point favorite Wednesday. The Dons led 35-25 at the break but were outscored 51-33 in the second half. Senior G Jamaree Bouyea and junior G Khalil Shabazz are the Dons top scorers, averaging 16.7 and 16.2 PPG, respectively.

Against the spread (ATS)

Back GONZAGA -16.5 (-110). Neither team has been great ATS recently. The Zags are 3-5-2 ATS in their last 10 games, and the Dons are 3-7 ATS.

Gonzaga gets the nod because it’s a much better team, should be well-rested and is beating conference opponents by an average of 23.2 PPG.

ATS: Gonzaga 8-9-2 | San Francisco 8-11

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 155.5 (-110) is the STRONGEST PLAY – 1½ times your usual wager. The Zags might lead the country in scoring at 92.7 PPG and field-goal percentage at 54.8%, but they’re 2-8 O/U in their last 10 games.

The Dons are also 2-8 O/U in their last 10. The Zags will get their points, but the Dons will be fortunate to reach 65.

O/U records: Gonzaga 8-11 | San Francisco 8-11

San Francisco at Gonzaga odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s San Francisco Dons at Gonzaga Bulldogs sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

In Saturday action the San Francisco Dons (7-4, 1-0 WCC) and top-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs (9-0, 0-0) meet at the McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, Wash., at 10 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the San Francisco-Gonzaga college basketball betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Bulldogs are No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.

San Francisco at Gonzaga: Three things to know

  1. Gonzaga is coming off a 112-67 blasting of Dixie State last time out, a final tune-up before concentrating mostly upon West Coast Conference (WCC) play the rest of the way. The Bulldogs are 5-4 ATS so far, but haven’t covered in consecutive games since their first two outings Nov. 26 and 27.
  2. For the Bulldogs, freshman sensation G Jalen Suggs (leg) is listed as questionable. Whether he plays or not shouldn’t have much of an affect on the straight up result, but those looking at the ATS play will want to be very mindful of his status. Either way, fellow Wooden Award candidate F Corey Kispert is healthy, and that makes the Zags dangerous any day of the week.
  3. The Over is 5-1 in the past six road games for San Francisco and 6-1 in its past seven against teams with a winning overall mark. Gonzaga has hit the Over at a 75% clip across its past 52 games (39-13), and the Zags are 22-6 in their past 28 at McCarthey.

San Francisco at Gonzaga: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Gonzaga 96, San Francisco 74

Money line (ML)

There was no money line at the time of publishing due to the large spread. It wouldn’t be worth pursuing since Gonzaga is such a heavy favorite.

PASS.

Against the spread (ATS)

GONZAGA -19.5 (-105) is the play, whether Suggs is able to play or not. Generally, San Francisco has been a thorn in the side of the Zags over the years. Gonzaga had a pair of 4-point wins over USF last season, but it belted the Dons at McCarthey for a home cover. The Bulldogs will do it again, as this Zags team leads the nation in scoring offense with 96.2 points per game. The Dons are averaging a mere 75.5 PPG, and won’t be able to keep up.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 161.5 (-110) is the play in this conference battle, even though the Dons have struggled to put points on the board. The Bulldogs have routinely flirted with the century mark, and they’ll be able to solve a San Francisco defense which has been fairly effective in the early going.

USF yields just 67.5 PPG, but it hasn’t played an up-tempo offense anywhere near the caliber of the top-ranked Zags.
