The Utah Jazz (0-4) welcome the San Antonio Spurs (1-3) to Delta Center Thursday. Tip is set for 9 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Spurs vs. Jazz odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.
Season series: First meeting; Spurs won 2-1 last season
The Spurs lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder 105-93 Wednesday, closing as a 12.5-point road underdog. They covered despite taking a 15-point deficit into the half. F Harrison Barnes led the way for the Spurs, scoring 18 points. San Antonio has lost 2 in a row and is 0-2 on the road as well. Both the Spurs road losses have come by at least double figures. They are 2-2 against the spread (ATS) in 4 games.
The Jazz are the only NBA team still without a win; they and the Spurs are the only teams in the Western Conference without 2 wins. Utah is coming off a 113-96 loss to the Sacramento Kings Tuesday, closing as a 6.5-point underdog. It has lost 3 straight games by at least 8 points each. The Jazz haven’t faired well at home either, losing by 41 to the Golden State Warriors and 17 to the Kings in their 2 home games. They are 2-2 ATS.

Spurs at Jazz picks and predictions
Prediction
Jazz 110, Spurs 105
Moneyline
BET JAZZ (-135).
The Jazz have several streaky scorers like G Jordan Clarkson and G Collin Sexton who have yet to find their rhythm, but both have proven they can score at an elite level. They should also be the more rested side with the Spurs having spent Wednesday night battling the Oklahoma City Thunder in the national spotlight. San Antonio has averaged 97 points per game over its last 2 and hasn’t found any rhythm offensively.
Despite most of its top talent shooting efficiently, Utah’s top-2 scoring options both are hitting 20% or under of their attempts from deep. The Jazz have an explosive offense, and at home, they should be able to come out on top. At this price, the moneyline is the better play, so back JAZZ (-135).
Against the spread
PASS.
There’s no great value on the spread here. The Spurs have had 2 of their 3 games finish with a 5-point margin or less. Similarly, the Jazz are a favorite, but have yet to win, so the confidence in them to cover isn’t worth the risk over playing them to win outright.
Over/Under
BET UNDER 223.5 (-110).
Neither offense has proven itself over the last few games. While the Jazz did start out the season hot, scoring 124 on the Memphis Grizzlies, they are 0-3 O/U since and have scored under 102 points in 2 of the last 3 games.
The Spurs are a similar story, having topped the total in their first game and having gone Under in 3 straight. They have both failed to score over 110 points in all 3 of those games and have allowed 106 or fewer points in all 3. Considering those trends, back UNDER 223.5 (-110).
