Watch: Jordan Spieth’s son, Sammy, is following closely in dad’s footsteps at the Par 3 Contest

Future Masters champion in the making? Only time will tell.

If Jordan Spieth’s son is anything like he is, he’s bound to be exciting on the golf course.

Well, Sammy Spieth sure provided the crowd some good highlights during the Par 3 Contest on Wednesday at the 2024 Masters. Paired with Rickie Fowler and Fred Couples, Jordan, his wife Annie and kids Sammy and Sophie were one of the first groups out during the annual competition.

And Sammy even had a couple of his own clubs. And took some swings.

Watch: Jordan Spieth mimics ‘Lion King’, raises son Sammy to Presidents Cup crowd

Sammy Spieth is our new leader.

If the scene that unfolded Sunday on the first tee at Quail Hollow Club is any indication, Sammy Spieth is the next heir to the throne.

Shortly before beginning his Sunday singles match in the 2022 Presidents Cup against Cam Davis, Jordan Spieth walked out to big cheers from the home crowd as he walked over to his wife, Annie Spieth, and their son, Sammy.

Jordan grabbed his son and then turned him around and hoisted him to the crowd engulfing the first tee, bringing a loud cheer from the fans. Many quickly made the comparison to the movie “Lion King”, when Rafiki took Simba to the top of Pride Rock and held him up for all to see.

Presidents Cup: Singles matches and predictions

It was an adorable moment for the Spieth family.

“It was fun to see him on the first tee,” Spieth told Golf Channel’s Steve Sands after his match. “That was super cool. He’s finally old enough to just be looking around and taking it all in and being interested in everything. He loves the ear muffs luckily because it has been loud out here.”

Spieth beat Cam Davis 4 and 3 in singles, becoming the first U.S. player to go 5-0-0 in Presidents Cup play since Jim Furyk in 2011.

Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth to bring their children to Wednesday’s Masters Par-3 Contest

A couple of new faces will make their Masters Par-3 Contest debut on Wednesday.

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Poppy and Sammy are going to have a day on Wednesday.

Both Rory McIlroy, papa of Poppy, and Jordan Spieth, daddy to Sammy, confirmed that they intend to bring their young children to the Masters Par-3 Contest on Wednesday.

“It’s funny. When you don’t have children, the Par-3 seems like a bit of an afterthought, and then once kids arrive, it sort of becomes the highlight of the week in a way,” McIlroy said of the tournament played on Augusta National’s nine-hole par-3 course with holes ranging from 70 to 140 yards. “So, yeah, I’m looking forward to it. It will be fun to get out there tomorrow and watch her run around.”

The Par-3 Contest, which dates to 1960, was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19. Poppy was born on Aug. 31, 2020, so this is her first opportunity to don a miniature white jumpsuit and serve as her dad’s caddie of sorts.

Samuel David Spieth was born on Nov. 14 and already has been traveling with the family to various tournaments.

“He’ll make an appearance tomorrow, assuming the weather holds up,” Spieth said. “First Masters should be a pretty fun day … that will be a memory that obviously we’ll always have.”

Spieth added: “It will put things in perspective. I remember watching Webb (Simpson) with his five or 10 kids, however many kids he has, out on the Par-3, and obviously mine’s not walking or running around or hitting any putts, but I think that will be a really cool day tomorrow.”

A Masters tradition like none other returns this Wednesday beginning at 12 p.m. ET.

Jordan Spieth, wife Annie welcome baby boy Sammy Spieth to the world

“Mama and baby doing great! Feeling blessed!” wrote Spieth.

If little Sammy Spieth is anything like the old man, place your bets now for the 2043 Masters.

On Wednesday afternoon the three-time major champion took to Twitter and Instagram to announce his wife, Annie, had given birth to their son, Sammy.

“Sammy Spieth born 11/14  💙 Mama and baby doing great! Feeling blessed!” Spieth wrote online alongside a picture of the baby boy holding his hand.

The 28-year-old has gone through a resurgence this year. After starting 2021 No. 92 in the world the former world No. 1 climbed back into the top 10 at the beginning of this month for the first time in three years (he now sits 11th). Spieth won for the first time since the 2017 Open Championship in April at the Valero Texas Open, then finished T-3 at the Masters a month later. Spieth added runner-up finishes at the Charles Schwab Challenge and Open Championship for his best season on Tour since 2017.
