USC fans will be watching the state of Kentucky in 2025

Sam Greene is at Kentucky. Miller Moss is at Louisville. USC fans will be watching the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the 2025 season.

Less than two weeks after entering the transfer portal, former USC defensive lineman Sam Greene has a new home. Greene recently announced his commitment to Kentucky. He will have three seasons of eligibility remaining with the Wildcats.

Greene originally signed with USC as a highly-touted recruit in the class of 2023. After redshirting his first season on campus, he earned a reserve role this season, recording 15 tackles and one sack. Now, he will look for a fresh start in Lexington.

In a weird twist, Greene was essentially part of a “trade” between the Trojans and the Wildcats. On Thursday, USC landed a commitment from former Kentucky defensive lineman Keeshawn Silver. Hence, the two teams essentially swapped defensive linemen.

While Silver is a veteran player with proven production at the college level, Greene is younger and has more eligibility left. Hence, both teams can feel reasonably good about how the “deal” turned out.

Greene’s transfer to Kentucky has been accompanied by Miller Moss transferring to Louisville. USC football fans will be watching both Kentucky and Louisville to see how key 2024 players fare in the commonwealth in 2025. There will be a Bluegrass storyline for USC fans to follow next year.

The Wildcats had a solid defense last year, especially early in the season. They’ll look to establish a pass rush, and they hope Greene will be a part of that. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

Kentucky football is set to get a visit from a former top 500 defensive end.

After playing just three games as a Freshman, Greene played in all 12 games for the Trojans in 2024. He posted 15 tackles and a sack in that time. Greene has three years of eligibility remaining, and would be a solid addition for the Cats.

Kentucky is one of the schools who has contacted Greene, and with whom he has a visit scheduled. Per On3, he will visit Lexington on Thursday. There is no timetable for a decision.

USC adds a defensive tackle, lands 2023 target Sam Greene

#USC needs reinforcements on the defensive line. Enter Sam Greene, who gives the Trojans more of the depth they have to stockpile.

The USC Trojans badly need more bodies on their defensive line. Lincoln Riley and his staff just did something about it by landing 2023 defensive tackle Sam Greene.

The Baltimore St. Frances defensive tackle committed to USC Thursday night to add to an already stellar 2023 recruiting class for Riley and Company.

The 6-foot-2, 260-pound three-star committed to the Trojans over Boston College, Penn State, and Texas A&M. Greene committed to the Pac-12 program without ever taking a visit to the campus in L.A.

He is the No. 696 overall prospect and No. 75 defensive lineman in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 rankings. Greene is also the No. 12 player in Maryland.

USC will get him on campus first when the Trojans host Arizona State on October 1. The three-star will be at Penn State for the White Out game against Minnesota on October 22. His visit to Texas A&M is reportedly October 29 for the Aggies’ game versus Ole Miss.
