Cowboys QB Dak Prescott eating turkey leg during the game was planned in advance

Remember when Dak Prescott was eating a turkey leg during the game? That was the plan. Tells you how little the Cowboys respected the Commanders.

The lasting image of the Washington Commanders’ 45-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day was quarterback Dak Prescott eating a turkey leg โ€” during the game.

Midway through the fourth quarter, once Dallas had opened up a 38-10 lead by that point, cameras showed Prescott on the sideline eating the turkey leg.

Eating a turkey leg after the Thanksgiving Day games has been a longtime NFL tradition the legendary John Madden started. But it was always after the game when the players spoke on the field in postgame interviews.

As it turns out, eating the turkey while the game was going on was always the plan, according to Prescott.

“Team effort, team idea,” Prescott said after the game. “We talked about as probably a two, three-day long process of whether it be a 15-yard penalty and whether coach would accept it. And I’ll tell you, I actually go talk to coach before every game, and sure enough, I caught him as he was talking to [Cowboys owner] Jerry [Jones], and so I mentioned it. Of course, Jerry liked it, so yeah. At that point, my direction was just make sure we’re up, and the game was in hand, and so the touchdown to CeeDee [Lamb] and the following two-point conversion, if you watch, I’m kinda like, is it time? Can we do it? I’m like, no, we’ll get another one. Sure enough, right after I threw that one to Turp [KaVontae Turpin], I was like, yeah, let’s go for it. And so, and it was good.”

It was clearly planned, as the Cowboys had turkey wrapped in to-go containers in the Salvation Army baskets around the field, per Ben Standig of The Athletic.

That tells you everything you need to know about how the Cowboys view the Commanders. Every Washington player should be outraged. Every player should be ticked off. Why? Because the Cowboys knew they’d be up big when they planned this stunt.

Yet another slap in the face of the 2023 Washington Commanders. Hey, if you don’t want it to happen, beat them. Easier said than done, for sure.

It would be entertaining to hear someone ask Ron Rivera what he thought about this. Would he say,” That’s interesting, but it’s not important.” Or, would he say, “The truth of the matter is……..”

Regardless, the image of Prescott eating a turkey leg during the game is one Washington fans will remember for a while. Do you believe the players who’ll return next year will remember that image and want some retribution?

Defensive backs Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes signed autographs for Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign on Monday

Alexander and Stokes took time out of their evening on Monday to sign autographs for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign

With the holiday season in full swing, Green Bay Packers defensive backs Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes took time out of their evening on Monday to sign autographs for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle campaign. The team documented the event with a flurry of pictures on their official website, and tweeted a picture of the defensive stars with Salvation Army representatives to commemorate the occasion,

Alexander has been an outstanding member of the Green Bay community since joining the Packers as a first-round selection in the 2018 draft. Stokes, who is in his second season with the franchise, was also a first-round pick by way of the University of Georgia and is sure to bring much-needed attention to the Salvation Army’s cause ahead of the end-of-month festivities.

Both players have made their presence felt on and off the field this season and are considered key pieces of the Packers’ roster. The experience of serving in the community together is sure to strengthen the bond between these two outstanding members of Green Bay’s secondary.

The Packers are set to face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday in Week 15 action and will look to earn their sixth win of the season in the highly anticipated matchup. Alexander will be on the field for the tilt, but Stokes, who is currently on injured reserve due to an ankle injury, will have to watch from the sideline.

For as much as fans and the media focus on the outcomes of games, the good deeds done by players in their communities during the season are an equally important part of the culture of any NFL team, but especially so for a close-knit squad like the one Green Bay hosts. Watch for more player involvement in the community moving forward, and stay tuned for Alexander’s performance against the Rams on Sunday.

Hornets rookie LaMelo Ball donates 500 blankets to Charlotte Salvation Army for homeless

On top of making an impact on the court with the Hornets, rookie LaMelo Ball is making an impact in the city of Charlotte as well.

LaMelo Ball’s impactful first year in Charlotte isn’t limited to the court. One day after being named the Rookie of the Month in the Eastern Conference, Ball shared a video on his Instagram Story showing the moves he’s making off the court.

In the video, the Charlotte Salvation Army, which helps over 600 homeless women and children nightly, revealed that Ball had donated 500 blankets to help the homeless. While not announced as such, the blankets feature a PUMA logo on the bottom right, likely meaning they worked in partnership with Ball on the donation.

During his season in the NBL with Illawarra, Ball had a similar act of goodwill. With Australia suffering through wide-spread wildfires, Ball donated a month’s salary to the victims of the fires. He also released a statement on his decision then.

โ€œItโ€™s sad to see what is happening on the South Coast of Australia. People have lost their homes and everything they own. My parents taught me to help out wherever I can, so this is my way of helping out.โ€

While it may seem like a simple act or, for the more cynical, a move that was started by his team or PUMA, that Ball has surrounded himself with people of that mindset is both wise and telling of his character as well.
