Rising bantamweights [autotag]Said Nurmagomedov[/autotag] and [autotag]Saidyokub Kakhramonov[/autotag] will square off in December.

Kakhramonov (10-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) meets Nurmagomedov (16-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) at a UFC Fight Night event on Dec. 17, which takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Trevin Jones eager to rematch Saidyokub Kakhramonov: ‘Make the weight and beat me’

“As soon as Said drop a fight, I want Said again because the boy didn’t even make weight.”

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Trevin Jones[/autotag] wants to run things back with [autotag]Saidyokub Kakhramonov[/autotag] after UFC Fight Night 211.

Jones (13-8 MMA, 1-2 UFC) will look to snap a two-fight losing skid when he meets Raoni Barcelos (16-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) on Saturday’s main card at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

One of those losses came to Kakhramonov (10-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) at UFC on ESPN 29, in a bout where Kakhramonov stepped in on short notice and missed weight by 2.5 pounds. Kakhramonov submitted Jones late in Round 3, but Jones wants a fair crack at the matchup.

“For sure I’m gonna get Said back,” Jones told reporters at the UFC Fight Night 211 media day on Wednesday. “If I get this Raoni fight, that’s gonna put me in a very nice position, but I don’t want no top 15, I don’t want nothing. As soon as Said drops a fight, I want Said again because the boy didn’t even make weight.”

He continued, “That fight has to happen again, has to. That’s the only fight I want right now. Right now I have an opponent in front of me, I’m very focused on Raoni. If they don’t give me him, I’ll be focused on my next guy, but if I had a chance to call anyone out or get any say, of course, I want that Said fight again.”

For Jones, the way Kakhramonov handled the win is what rubbed him the wrong way.

“When he won that fight he was like, ‘Oh three days’ notice, three days’ notice.’ The guy messaged me on Instagram at least eight days’ out and he was like, ‘Trev take the fight vs. me, take the fight vs. me,’ and I was like bro, whoever they call me, I’m not in charge of that. Whoever they call me, I’m fighting, and then it ended up being him. He ended up not making weight and winning. The way he acted about it, ‘Three days’ notice, three days’ notice,’ like a dick. I don’t respect that.

“I respect he beat me, of course, it’s a sport. He’s not supposed to come out there and lose, but make the weight and beat me. I think if he made that weight, four pounds down, that’s four pounds of him working and four pounds of him rehydrating. That’s a big difference and the way I was controlling him in the fight, I think that would have been the difference. So, I don’t think that fight should be held against me because boy didn’t even come correct.”

UFC on ESPN 29 medical suspensions: Jared Cannonier, flyweight contenders face lengthy time off

Check out the list of medical suspensions from UFC on ESPN 29 in Las Vegas.

[autotag]Jared Cannonier[/autotag] and [autotag]Alexandre Pantoja[/autotag] exited UFC on ESPN 29 on a wave of momentum after their wins – but they didn’t do so unscathed.

Both Cannonier and Pantoja were handed 180-day suspensions by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC), according to a list MMA Junkie acquired Wednesday from MixedMartialArts.com, the ABC’s official database.

In his main event win over [autotag]Kelvin Gastelum[/autotag], Cannonier suffered a right foot injury. As for Pantoja, a win in a potential title eliminator battle with [autotag]Brandon Royval[/autotag] resulted in a left knee injury. Depending on the severity of the fighters’ injuries, they could be ineligible to compete until February.

Also receiving 180-day suspensions were the aforementioned Royval, [autotag]Luis Saldana[/autotag], [autotag]Domingo Pilarte[/autotag], and [autotag]Josiane Nunes[/autotag].

It’s important to note fighters’ suspensions may terminate sooner than the date listed if their injury is cleared by a medical doctor.

UFC on ESPN 29: Saidyokub Kakhramonov slumps Trevin Jones with nasty guillotine choke on 4 days’ notice

Trevin Jones slumped over backward after consciousness was choked out of him.

One week ago, [autotag]Saidyokub Kakhramonov[/autotag] wasn’t on the roster.

Saturday in Las Vegas, he picked up his first promotional win with a gruesome conscious-snatching technical submission on the UFC on ESPN 29 main card when he defeated [autotag]Trevin Jones[/autotag] via guillotine choke at 4:39 of Round 3.

UFC on ESPN 29 took place Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The main card aired on ESPN/ESPN+ after prelims on ESPN2/ESPN+.

Uzbekistan’s Kakhramonov (9-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) took the Jones (13-6 MMA, 1-1 UFC) fight on four days’ notice after Mana Martinez was forced to withdraw from the event due to COVID-19 protocols. While the first two rounds were closely contested, Kakhramonov displayed a little bit of everything.

In Round 3, Kakhramonov caught Jones in a guillotine choke – a position he almost pulled off earlier in the fight. This time, it was a standing position, and Kakhramonov mustered up the torque he needed to put Jones to sleep.

As referee Herb Dean pulled Kakhramonov off, Jones slumped back in an awkward, folding position. Luckily, Dean was able to pull Jones upright to avoid further damage.
