Tennessee quarterback to enter NCAA transfer portal

Tennessee quarterback enters the NCAA transfer portal following the regular-season.

Tennessee’s regular season ended on Nov. 30 with a 36-23 win at Vanderbilt. The Vols (10-2, 6-2 SEC) await their College Football Playoff ranking and seeding.

Following the regular season, Tennessee redshirt freshman quarterback Ryan Damron announced he intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

“I will be entering my name into the transfer portal with three years left of eligibility,” Damron announced. “Thank you to the University of Tennessee for allowing me the opportunity to fulfill my childhood dreams!”

Damron appeared in one contest for the Vols during the 2024 regular season. He did not record any statistics against Kent State on Sept. 14 at Neyland Stadium.

The 6-foot, 205-pound quarterback did not appear in any games and earned a redshirt in 2023.

2023 quarterback Ryan Damron has committed to Tennessee as a preferred walk-on.

“First, I want to thank God for allowing me to play the game I love at the next level,” Damron said. “I want to thank my parents for always believing in me and helping guide me in the right direction. Next, I want to thank my coaches for putting their time into developing me into the man and player I am today. I want to thank the whole community of Henry County for their endless support during my time here. Lastly, I want to thank my teammates and friends for showing me what it was like to be a part of something bigger than myself.

“With all that being said, I will be committing to the University of Tennessee!”

The 5-foot-11, 179-pound Damron is from Henry County High School in Paris, Tennessee.
