Masyiah Brawner was offered last week by Rutger track and field

On June 20, the Scarlet Knights sent a scholarship off to Winslow High School star Masyiah Brawner

Recruiting is in full effect for Rutgers track and field, with a recent going out to one of the top athletes in New Jersey.

On June 20, the Scarlet Knights sent a scholarship off to Winslow High School star Masyiah Brawner. She is a special and unique talent.

During her high school career, Brawner has been a swiss army knife. She has participated in the 4×100 relay, 4×200 relay, long jump, high jump, and triple jump. Regardless of the event, she has been a very useful piece for the Eagles.

If Brawner were to pick Rutgers, she would be joining a program that’s certainly on the up.

Earlier this month, Chloe Timberg became the first athlete in Rutgers women’s track and field history to win an NCAA Championship. Many in Piscataway, including Head Cross Country Coach/Associate Head Coach Track and Field Matthew Jelley, hope she is the first of many.

While Brawner is not expected to make a decision anytime soon, she took to social media to thank Rutgers for the interest and acknowledge that she had received an offer.

On her personal X account, Brawner said she was ” blessed to receive an offer from Rutgers University.” As Rutgers continues to add to its 2026 class, Brawner will be an athlete to watch.

Rutgers Chloe Timberg wins first women’s NCAA Championship in program history

Rutgers’ Chloe Timberg is the program’s first national champion in track and field since 1983.

On Thursday night, Rutgers women’s track and field star pole vaulter Chloe Timberg made history in Eugene, Oregon. At Hayward Field, Timberg set a meet and school record while giving Rutgers its first national champion in track and field since 1983. It was also the first women’s NCAA Championship in program history.

Before rewriting the record books, Timberg matched her previous career best of 4.60m (15′ 1″), the only pole vaulter to reach that height. That set the stage for a moment she would never forget as shortly after, Timberg cleared a record height of 4.71m (15′ 5.5″). The height also tied Timberg for third-best in NCAA history.

As Timberg took in her historic performance, she reflected on her journey and thanked everyone who has helped her at Rutgers over the years.

” We knew this was not going to be an easy feat, there are many talented vaulters in the NCAA,” Timberg told Rutgers athletics. ” Coach and I took on the challenge of making big changes mid-season so to see that risk pay off was incredible. I am so proud to be a part of the Rutgers Athletics family because they have been a huge support at every turn.”

For Timberg, Thursday’s latest accomplishment comes as no surprise. Earlier this year she won silver at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships and was named the Big Ten Field Athlete of the Year. Her focus will now shift to the U.S. Olympic trials, which are just a few weeks away.

Talented Rutgers duo rewrites the record books at Tom Jones Memorial Invitational

It was a big weekend for Rutgers track and field at the Tom Jones Memorial.

At the Tom Jones Memorial Invitation this past weekend, Rutgers track and field standouts Alex Carlson and Chloe Timberg helped the Scarlet Knights earn a split. In the process, they rewrote the record books for the program.

The Scarlet Knights finished the weekend with six top-three finishes and ten total performances on the top-10 all-time list.

An unforgettable weekend started with Carlson, who improved upon the previous 5,000-meter record by more than 30 seconds. The New Jersey native won the event with a time of 15:53.14. It was not only a new personal best for Carlson but also shattered the nearly 22-year-old record set by All-American Julie Culley.

Congratulations to Alex Carlson for setting another Rutgers school record in the 5,000m with a time of 15:53.14 at the Larry Ellis Invitational @ Princeton University. Joining Carlson in making history was Chloe Timberg, who cleared the bar in the women’s pole vault at 4.56m (14′ 11.5″). This topped her previous mark, which was set at the Larry Ellis Invitational meet record. In the men’s 5,000-meter, Brian Pedretti also had a memorable performance, clocking a time of 14:31.19, which ranks fifth all-time.

With the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in the books, Rutgers focus now shifts to the UofSC Open in Columbia, South Carolina and the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on April 20. The Scarlet Knights will again look to add to the record books as the season winds down.

Rutgers women’s track and field makes history

Rutgers women’s track and field is nationally ranked.

With the first week of the women’s track and field season in the books, Rutgers is unfamiliar territory. In the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings, the Scarlet Knights were ranked No.22.

It marked the first time in program history that they were ranked in the top 25 in the indoor pool in program history.

Their success has partly been due to the talented trio of Chloe Timberg, Alicia Campbell and Alex Carlson. Over the weekend, Timberg set a school record in the pole vault for the third time this season. At the Collegiate Showdown in Boston, she recorded the No. 1 height in the country.

However, she was not the only one who made history. Campbell wrote herself into the record books by breaking a 25-year-old school record in the weight throw, recording a distance of 18.97m.

While Carlson did not set records like her teammates, she played a critical role. The New Jersey native put together a few nationally-ranked performances. She owns the fifth-fastest time in the 800-meter and ranks 12th in the 3,000-meter.

The Scarlet Knights will be back in action on January 26 for the Bob Pollock Invitational hosted by Boston University.

Rutgers track and field adds Madsion Stevens

Rutgers track and field adds another solid recruit.

For Rutgers field and track, the future got a little brighter on Thursday. Madison Stevens announced that she had committed to Rutger on social media. She will bring an impressive resume to Piscataway and provide a boost to the track and field program.

The New York native is one the best in the state as she took second place in the girl’s shot put at the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association’s track and field Meet. It marked the second straight year that she finished second in the event. Stevens also took sixth place in the championship finals of the girl’s shot put at the Nike Indoor Nationals in May.

As Stevens prepares for the next step of her career, excitement is building for what she will accomplish at Piscataway. During her high school career, the Columbia High School product regularly finished in the top ten of major events.

Additionally, she is joining a program with his expectations. However, it is a situation she is ready for, and she did not hide her excitement on social media.

In a post on her Twitter account, Stevens said, ” I am excited to announce that I have committed to Rutgers to further my academic Track & Field career. Thank you for the great opportunity, Coach Cocci and Coach Farrell. Thank you to my parents, coaches, family, and friends for being the best support system.”

Top New Jersey sprinter Bryce Tucker commits to Rutgers track-and-field

Rutgers track and field lands hurdler Bryce Tucker.

Bryce Tucker committed to Rutgers on Monday, giving the track-and-field program one of the top athletes in the area.

Not just one of the top sprinters it turns out, but the class of 2023 standout is also one of the most versatile runners in the area. In addition to track, Tucker also runs cross country.

Tucker is perhaps best known for last year capturing the Meet of Champions in the 400 hurdles. It was a time that, according to NJ Advanced Media, put him among the top five in the nation.

Following an offer from Rutgers in early October, Tucker committed to the program three weeks later. He posted the news of his commitment on social media:

In September, he took an official visit to Rutgers:

In August, Rutgers welcomed a solid 2022 recruiting class that includes St. Peter’s Prep standout [autotag]Fitzroy Ledgister[/autotag]. The freshman is also part of the Scarlet Knights football program.
