The Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-0, 1-0 Big Ten) visit the No. 2 Michigan Wolverines (3-0, 0-0) Saturday. Kickoff from Michigan Stadium is set for noon ET (Big Ten Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Rutgers vs. Michigan odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.
Rutgers continued its hot start to the season with a 35-16 win over Virginia Tech as a 6.5-point underdog last Saturday. The Scarlet Knights have been a very balanced offense to start the season. QB Gavin Wimsatt has completed 51.5% (34-of-66) of his passes for 407 yards and 3 TDs while RB Kyle Monangai has rushed for 357 yards and 5 TDs on 58 carries.
Michigan has also looked dominant again in Week 3 action, clobbering Blowing Green 31-6 but failing to cover as a 41-point favorite. The Wolverines have scored 30 or more points while allowing 7 or fewer points in 3 start games to start the year.
QB J.J. McCarthy looked a bit rough against Bowling Green, completing 8 of his 13 passes for 143 yards for 2 TDs against 3 INTs. However, Michigan’s run game and defense were stellar in the win as the RB duo of Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards combined for 151 rushing yards and 2 TDs on 21 carries.
Michigan is No. 2 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Rutgers at Michigan picks and predictions
Prediction
Michigan 35, Rutgers 7
Moneyline
PASS.
I like the Wolverines to cover here as they have won their last 8 straight vs. Rutgers, but -3000 favorites are not worth the risk. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.
Against the spread
LEAN MICHIGAN -24 (-110).
The Wolverines have dominated the Scarlet Knights lately, and I expect that to continue here. Coach Jim Harbaugh to the sidelines after serving a 3-game suspension so I expect the Wolverines to look even more dominant than they have in the previous 3 weeks. Michigan has won 5 of its last 8 vs. Rutgers by more than 24 points, and this year will likely be no different.
Over/Under
BET UNDER 44.5 (-115).
Michigan has been dominant defensively, only allowing 16 points through 3 games, and I don’t expect this contest to be any different. Rutgers has scored 24 points in all 3 games to start the year, but that should come to an end here. I could see the Wolverines’ offense carrying this game to the Over, but as they haven’t yet scored over 35 I don’t think it will happen Saturday.
