Key four-star wide receiver target in 2024 taking second visit to Penn State

Penn State will host a key wide receiver recruiting target for a second visit in April.

Penn State will be hosting one of their top wide receiver targets in the class of 2024 on April 7th.

[autotag]Jaylan Hornsby[/autotag] is a four-star from Camden, NJ who is ranked fourth in the state. On3’s database has him listed as the 273rd best player in his class and 46th at his position nationally.

The 6’2″ 195 pound wide receiver has been offered a scholarship by 21 schools across the country. Other notable programs on the list include Georgia, Oregon, Notre Dame, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Illinois and Rutgers.

According to 247Sports, the 2023 class only had one designated wide receiver sign their letter of intent and the 2024 class currently has zero wide receivers committed.

Penn State has been able to develop NFL talent in their receiver room, so it’s important to keep the talent coming into the program.

Right now, On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Rutgers leading the way to land the four-star from New Jersey. The Scarlet Knights are given a 50.3% chance to sign Hornsby, while Penn State is sitting second with 18.1%.

Hornsby’s return to Penn State in April will be an unofficial visit. He visited Rutgers for a second time earlier in March and also took a visit to Illinois.

The recruiting process for anyone in the 2024 class will take a while to see all the way through. Official visits still need to take place and their senior season still needs to be played in the fall.

It’s clear that Penn State is prioritizing landing Hornsby as they look to add more talent in their wide receiver room.

Check out the best photos form Penn State’s Week 12 win at Rutgers

Penn State had to work to overcome a feisty effort from Rutgers on the road, and a sluggish start by the offense, but all was good by the time the clock hit triple zeroes on Saturday evening in New Jersey. Penn State’s 55-10 victory over Rutgers ensured Penn State’s goal of playing in a New Years Six bowl game will remain alive going into the final weekend of the college football regular season, and the team got contributions in the win in all areas.

Penn State scored a touchdown on special teams with [autotag]Nick Singleton[/autotag] returning a touchdown 100 yards for a score in the first quarter, and the defense scored a pair of touchdowns on fumble returns by [autotag]Ji’Ayir Brown[/autotag] and [autotag]Kalen King[/autotag]. A third defensive touchdown was wiped off the board by a blocking penalty on the return. Regardless, it was all smiles for the road team as Penn State left New Jersey with a 9-2 record with one final home game to play next weekend against Michigan State.

Here are some of the top photos from Penn State’s decisive victory at Rutgers.

Report: Massive COVID-19 outbreak hits Rutgers football team

Rutgers football is in the midst of a massive COVID-19 breakout, according to a report.

When you thought things could not get any lower for Rutgers football, it does.

NJ.com reports the Scarlet Knights are in the throes of a massive coronavirus outbreak, including players and staff.

There was an outbreak last week that NJ.com reported was the result of players taking part in a dorm party.

Now this:

The number of COVID-19 cases connected with the Rutgers University football team nearly has doubled from 15 to 28 players, plus multiple staff members, three people with knowledge of the situation told NJ Advance Media on Monday night.

There are multiple players with symptoms widely associated with the coronavirus, including fevers, headaches, and sore throats, two of the people said. There are also numerous players who are asymptomatic after testing positive last week, two of the people said.

Coach Greg Schiano heading into the first season of his second tenure in Piscataway is reportedly having videoconference calls with the parents of players. The message Schiano has delivered, the person said, is the school has the best testing program in the Big Ten and it is working with the health officials to follow the protocols the state has set to deal with the pandemic.

Rutgers plays in the Big Ten Conference and is a perennial doormat in football.
