OL Rusty Feth pens farewell note to Iowa

After one season in Iowa City, OL Rusty Feth is turning his attention to professional football. He penned a farewell note to Iowa.

After just the lone season at Iowa, offensive lineman Rusty Feth is moving onto the next stage of life and his football playing career. The 6-foot-3, 310 pound lineman will pursue a future in the NFL.

Feth arrived in Iowa City as a graduate transfer from Miami (Ohio) that had played in 39 career games and started 34. At Iowa, Feth played in all 14 games and started nine at left guard in 2023.

Feth helped the Hawkeyes win the Big Ten West and secure a 10-win regular season for just the seventh time in program history.

As he exits to his professional future, Feth took the time to pen a note to Hawkeye fans.

“Wow, what a ride it has been. This year has been one of the most challenging, exciting, and rewarding years of my life. Playing for this team and these coaches was truly an honor and I am extremely thankful for the opportunity that was given to me.

“I would like to thank my teammates, Coach Ferentz, and Coach Barnett for pushing me to be my best at all times. To the fans here at Iowa, thank you for supporting me on this journey. From the moment I stepped on campus, I knew this place was the right fit. I am forever grateful for this opportunity to play for the Hawkeyes.

“I walk around with great pride knowing that I will be a Hawkeyes for life. Iowa is a special place led by special people and I am so proud to be a part of the Black and Gold!” Feth wrote in his social media announcement on X.

Iowa figures to return four of its five starters from the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl versus Tennessee in left tackle Mason Richman, center Logan Jones, right guard Connor Colby and right tackle Gennings Dunker.

Rusty Feth ignites Iowa Twitter with first image in Hawkeyes uniform

The first look at transfer offensive lineman Rusty Feth in his Iowa uniform has Hawkeye fans convinced he’s destined for greatness.

Rusty Feth is here and that means help is on the way.

The 6-foot-5, 305 pound offensive lineman transferred in from Miami (Ohio) as a graduate transfer. There, Feth started 34 career games, including 25 straight at center over each of the past two seasons with the RedHawks. The Colerain, Ohio, native also made nine starts at guard during his Miami (Ohio) career.

That means positional versatility for the Hawkeyes. The expectation is that Feth will slide in at one of the guard spots. To begin the spring, Iowa listed Connor Colby as its starting left guard and Beau Stephens as its starting right guard.

247Sports’ Brad Crawford touched on the excitement that sources have for Iowa’s offensive line improvement. Some of that is rooted in the belief that Logan Jones will improve at center.

But, it’s also rooted in the belief that Saginaw Valley State transfer offensive tackle Daijon Parker and Feth will immediately upgrade Iowa’s situation.

After sharing one picture on social media, it’s safe to say that Feth has Hawkeye fans convinced that the days of a 124th-ranked rushing offense are long gone.

If the whole football thing doesn’t work out with the Hawkeyes, maybe Feth can just audition for a role in the live action God of War series coming to Amazon.

Complete with the beard, Feth really does look like and embody almost the perfect image of a Hawkeye offensive lineman. Desperate for marked improvement up front, Iowa fans weren’t letting the moment pass them by to celebrate the arrival of Feth.

Here’s the best reactions from Hawkeye fans to Feth’s arrival.
